We had been to a food market on Les Rambles and had enjoyed great oysters at a few stalls, but we were saving ourselves for something different but didn't know what. The food market was uncomfortably packed with tourists and we contributed to this, it also had a mild sewage 3rd world whiff and at 34c it wasn't pleasant. The last time I got a pong like this was in Bangkok. I've no doubt we've also contributed to the fact that the price for food here has gone up noticeably, but not as exponentially as it will over the next few months if politicians aren't brave enough to cap energy price hikes amid obscene oil company profit scouring. Please don't hold any collective breath waiting on politicians of integrity. So we pulled out of the pongy crowded market and ambled the Rambles. Then the smell hit, pinched our noses and we were pleased. Garlic & chilli hit. And we just knew it was right on. So we followed our noses. We could see the wok master at his pyromaniac work from outside this small narrow place. A not enough room to swing a cat space. Mind you I can't think why anyone would want to treat a cat so. It was full of 20 and 30 somethings both those dining and those cooking. Intense gas heat, high flame, thin steel = little oil, rapid stir fry cooking of thin cut meats, vegetables and proper spice balance. Perfection. So the price is structured. I opted for thin noodles rather than rice, chicken as protein, cashew nuts for delicious texture, oyster mushrooms and beansprouts for taste and, of course, chilli spice. They add white onions, carrots and greens at no extra charge but I did say to go heavy on the fresh coriander at the end and they did. From start to paper carton it was a few brief minutes. €14.20 (£12.) and the serving was enough for two. 3 green stars. Wooden forks, spoons and paper tissues on site with narrow uncomfortable seating but great fresh cooked, hot tasty food. The oyster mushrooms and cashews sure pushed up the price but it was worth every cent particularly the cashews and honestly we didn't need the chicken. I noted that we passed many places offering all manner of paella - meat, fish, vegetarian but no smell not a whiff of garlic, frying onion so I avoid as I'm cynical enough to think it's pre frozen and microwaved food. read more

We walked by here a few times and every time this place was very busy. Finally, I walked in to see what the big deal was. The smell of the food was intoxicating!! It smelled like an upscale Chinese restaurant. I had to eat here. My family did not want Chinese food so they did not eat here. I was surprised I ate Chinese food in Spain but I could not resist this place!! They have a sort of mix and match menu where you choose your base and meat and also your sauce. I chose lo mein, veggies, chicken and black bean/garlic sauce. I was mesmerized watching the cook make my creation. He put a lot of heart and attention into adding each of the ingredients. I love when cooks actually like to cook!! A fun part of ordering was when the cashier kept asking me my name. I finally starting singing..."Michelle my Bell" by the Beatles. Great concept for a fast-food place. I love how your dish is customizable to exactly how you want it. Food is made fresh and you can even watch them make it. I ordered the Udon Noodles with chicken and mixed vegetables. It was piping hot and tasty. Be sure to mix your food well cause the sauce can easily settle to the bottom since everything is so hot. Also be mindful, this restaurant is meant to be a place to grab and go, so you won't find tables here. Wok to Walk is a nice place to go to when you need an easy meal to fill you up for the remainder of your day in Barcelona. It is a place specifically catered to Asian stir fry, and it is easy to order what you want in your stir fry. All you need to do is list off what type of things you want from the type of noodles, to toppings, and sauce. It would benefit them to use more touch screens to make things easier for the customers, since this is located in a popular tourist area and therefore, not everyone will know enough Spanish to explain what they want to the cashier. One of my friends backed up the line because she was having trouble speaking Spanish, and with the already packed crowd inside the small area that can make the process of getting the orders out a lot more complicated. Additionally, one of my other friends had a peanut allergy and politely asked one of the chefs if they can make her food without peanut oil or peanut related products, to which the chef responded rudely and basically said that there's nothing she can do about it. Thankfully, the manager of the place stepped in and do what my friend wanted. The food itself was very delicious! I remember the noodles being so hefty, that I couldn't even finish half until hours later. This is definitely a meal for the end of the day or if you're trying to save money and want something to keep you full for a long time. This was pleasantly interesting. Its like Cava with the pick your own food items, meats, and sauces, but for asian food, especially stir fry ready foods. Can get expensive as each added ingredient will cost you. Just be mindful of that. Portion size is large enough to share if you're not very hungry. Take a look at the menu while you're in line. The order: egg noodles in curry sauce, with tofu, broccoli, bamboo shoots and peanuts- drowned in the spicy chilly sauce. I'll admit 2 things: 1) I didn't realize it was WOK to WALK, but instead thought it was WALK to WOK. Like you walk to get the noodles, not you walk with your noodles. 2) I accidentally started eating this on my way home. I walked with the wok. The peanuts are a delicious crunch and a must. My memory of having a Taiwanese roommate and learning that yu shiang is garlic came back to me when ordering. Got takeaway chicken in garlic sauce on wheat rice. 4 euro later, I was carrying the takeaway box home. I think that Wok to Walk would thrive in the States. It's good, busy, tasty, and has a cool atmosphere. They're good noodles, in my experience. Our egg noodles with chicken, peppers, broccoli, sesame seeds, teriyaki, and hot sauce were very tasty. The aroma of sweet and spicy noodles shove their way into your nostrils. It's all very intoxicating. For what it is, I like it. I think it could be cheaper, though. Over 9€ for a bowl of noodles is a bit much in my opinion. It really depends on what you want. My girlfriend and I shared this along with other choice items from La Boqueria, which made for quite a fine feast. Still, I'm not sure if I'd come back just for the noodles. Then again, I am always hungry. But there's so much food around, and certainly no lack of cheap, delicious food that will make you feel better after eating them than this would. So, unless you really need your fix of noodles (and I understand that,) I'd say you'd enjoy other places more. read more
