I needed new glasses and had driven past this place a few times, so I decided to go in and check it out. I have an unusually small head (I'm only 5'2") so I often have problems finding glasses that fit me and sometimes have to buy kids sizes - so I figured a place that specialized in women might have a wider range of smaller sizes. Went in and made an appointment for a new eye check up at the same time, no problems, and then came back a week later to see the optometrist. She was super nice, very helpful and gave a lot of advice on whether to consider progressive lenses and what to look for. She also recommended some eyedrops, but unfortunately did not write the name down, so I emailed the place when I remembered later to ask what it was. They said it was probably one of two brands, which they named, but neither seemed familiar so I asked them to check when the optometrist was back in the office and confirm. It's been over a week now and they haven't replied, so unless the optometrist has gone on extended holiday, they've clearly forgotten about me - taking off a star for that :( I found the fitting helpful, it's great to have someone give dedicated 1-on-1 advice about frames and what suits, and they were happy to take a couple of photos with my top choices so I could see how they looked. I was told the glasses would take up to 10 work days to be ready, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear back after only 3 days that they were ready to pick up. I stopped by during my lunch hour to collect them however and this is where the other rating star gets lost - walked in and was completely and utterly ignored. The receptionist was nowhere to be seen, and the two ladies present were fitting other people with glasses and didn't even look at me. Even though one of them must have had to get up and buzz me in, they didn't even acknowledge my existence long enough to ask me to wait a moment. I ended up standing around for at least 5 minutes completely ignored until another customer wrapped up and then one was able to help me collect the new glasses. I returned the weekend after to ask if they could adjust the fit of one earpiece slightly, and exact same experience. No receptionist to be seen, two ladies busy fitting other clients and not a word, not even eye contact, ended up standing around completely ignored for 10 minutes without even being acknowledged or told how long the wait was. This is when I started wandering around to take a few photos of the place to add on Yelp, since apparently nobody even cared that I existed - the optometrist office side of the place was entirely deserted, I could have wandered into the examination offices and rifled through the supplies if I'd wanted to, there was nobody present and nobody paying any attention to me. Finally after a long wait another customer wrapped up and someone was free to help me - at which point she was perfectly polite and helpful to me, but again totally ignored the man who entered while she was talking to me. A few thoughts - first, the optometrist was great, I do like the fitting service, and their selection of smaller sized frames seemed fine. However, where is the receptionist? If the store is open, there should be a receptionist at the desk at all times, which means providing cover for her lunch and other breaks. If that's not possible, then ALL staff should be ready to promptly greet new customers and provide an idea of the wait time. Completely ignoring customers is a terrible experience and conveys a complete lack of interest in the customer and a lack of value for our time. The fact they've completely forgotten to answer my email emphasizes this. The customer service (or lack of) is definitely detracting from what would otherwise have been a good experience here, which is quite disappointing. read more

Great initial experience, poor customer retention / service after purchase. My mom and I purchased 3 pairs of glasses approximately 3 years ago. They messed up my prescription twice and thus, I had to pick them up after my mom's were finished. When I went to pay, they told me that everything had been cleared up by my mom a few weeks earlier. 3 years later now, I am receiving collections calls from an agency for an unpaid balance I had no idea existed. Don't get me wrong, I am all for paying for products and services. But this company has never contacted me once personally to explain the mixup and now, hearing about it through a collections agency 3 years later is insulting. I have tried calling Women With Vision and no-one returns my calls. I will definitely not be recommending them to anyone any time soon. They have a special way of helping customers choose frames to truly suit your look and personality. Eye exam tests are available on site, so you can take care of all your eye care needs in one stop. I was so impressed with the personable service. The shop is run by a husband-wife team, who needless to say wear the coolest specs. There's also a great selection of sunglasses here, if you want a good pair rather than your $20 gas-station shades. You are treated with 5 star service from the time you walk in the door till way after you have purchased and left with your glasses! I am 18, i've gone through 3 pairs of glasses in my life and HATE repeat HATE glasses shopping. I have no confidence in myself and hate all of them on me. But after complimenting 3 customers at my work and all 3 telling me they went to WOV I had to try it out! Going in I knew what style I wanted and figured they'd ask me. But the coolest thing was that they didn't! Carmen was my girl and basically she told me that she would look at how I was dressed and my face shape and bring out a few pairs she thought would suit me. OMG she read my mind. They were perfect. I finally narrowed it down to 3 pairs and could.not.choose! So she grabbed the store's iPad and we went to a well lit white all and took a picture from the front, side and with my hair up in each frames. THat helped me a lot because I usually don't see much in the mirror. AND this way if you have a strong prescription you can have your glasses on and still check out the new frames! I finally was able to make a decision because they were women talking to me about how to shop. "Which pair would you forget the easiest?" "Which pair feels most like you?" "Which ones do you have concerns about and what are they?" I just felt no stress, no hassle, no "sales" pitching at all! It was a breeze, in.out. This place seemed like the perfect fit for what I was looking for, including edgy frames. I was first turned off by how long it took me to make an appointment, these folks do not answer email or the phone! The receptionist on the phone was also super rude and rushed me all the way through. When I finally managed to make an appointment (on one of the two days they have an eye doctor), I was a little disappointed I couldn't just roam around and try whatever glasses I wanted. The manager/owner of the shop pulled out recommendations from drawers without ever letting me look at the frames. I managed to pick one and it was on sale, which was great because their frames are in the $700-$1500 range for most. My glasses were ordered, but they were delayed. It took about a month for me to get them. I also ordered contacts, and while they places the order I had lots of challenges booking a time to come and pick them up. Again, they weren't answering my communication attempts. All this to say that I would expect better service out of a store that claims to be so different from others... but really, the experience was just exhausting. read more

I wanted to buy a pair of glasses here but it would be the LAST place I would go back to. After spending a considerable amount of time with a salesperson (who was very helpful) I explained that I would like the product information on my top 3 choices and that I planned on returning with my husband to make a final decision. They explained that 'store policy' forbid them from providing me the product information that I requested but that they would be happy to start a file for me. That's great I explained except that I wanted to do my own research on the quality of the lenses, and the products before purchasing. They wouldn't even let me write down the names of the glasses or model numbers myself!!!!!! This is like a going to buy a car and the dealer letting you look at the car but not letting you take home the brochure! Would you buy a home appliance without comparing models????? Unbelievable! The very policy they have in place to prevent people from shopping elsewhere is the very reason why I will never shop at Vision Opticians in Edmonton....Big loss! I agree with Breanne great initial experience,poor customer service. I have sent them several customers and initially thought they were excellent (some better than others) at selecting glasses that suit you, however their service after purchase has been disappointing. I bought a pair of glasses that did not fit well and I had to literally convince them they did not work for me after attempting to wear them just to try and appease them.
