Lot's of play equipment to keep the kids entertained, I do have a problem with the slide set up though, to get to the top you have to climb up this weird green material that has been fashioned into steps, but you cant really see the steps, very tripsy indeed. I know this because I went down the slide numerous times and the climb up didn't get any easier. There is a kiosk available for drinks and ice-cream etc. you can bring your own picnic though and there are BBQ facilities available. one thing I did notice was a lack of rubbish bins, in fact I didn't see one, but there had to be one because there was no rubbish on the ground. The burnside pool is just across the green if you want to go for a swim, personally I don't like public pools because of how much chlorine they have to pack into them, ever had chlorine induced hazy eye syndrome? It's painful.

Its free! and the best things in life really are. 2. It's enclosed! with metal bar fencing that doesn't resemble a prison and yet still has the same effect. niiice. 3. There is an old steam engine which is the feature of the play equipment. I sure there's some sort of history lesson in that...yay! the park is educational as well!! 4. There is a bathroom with a change table and its clean enough that you can use it before you get absolutely desperate! 5. There are park benches available within the fencing and outside too, so if you have older kids with you too they can run around on the grassy area. 6. I was a kid once, and my folks used to take me to this play ground and I thought it was awesome. 7. There are BBQ facilities, so you can have a gathering there and keep the kids occupied while everyone else does adult things, like drinking beer! only kidding guys, this is a dry zone and that would be slightly irresponsible. 8. There's car parking so if you do have a picnic you don't have the lug the basket halfway to Antarctica. 5 gold stars for a free family day of fun.

It's an ideal place to take the kids if you're out shopping in Stirling because there's enough equipment and hills to occupy the small ones while you socialise or relax on the benches. You see family gatherings and events in the rotunda or at the bbq and benches of this park all the time. Parking's good and immediate as the park shares with the community theatre across the way, there's a drink fountain and public toilet on the same premises. I was particularly fond of climbing up on the steam roller and playing driver when I was a lad, but the rest of the play equipment is great too. Lots of variation and challenges for kids to tackle.

The playground is split up with small pieces of equipment on either side of the oval. There are swings and an old metal see-saw on one side and the play structure, more swings and another bouncy see-saw on the other side, near the tennis courts. The playground is designed for older children and toddlers won't find anything here that they can play on for a long time. It is nestled under some trees, so at least there is some dappled shade but I was really disappointed with the lack of equipment here. Large areas such as ovals and sports grounds can either be hit or miss when it comes to the playgrounds on their grounds. This reserve unfortunately, is a miss for me. There is a seating area with some BBQs but again, only tree shade. There is a tap but I couldn't see a drinking fountain. Toilets aren't far from the tennis courts. In full view. No words were needed. The pictures actually make this park look normal. I really don't think it is. And in a posh area such as Burnside, well I'll be darned. Meanwhile the kids were playing happily... Lol?

What does this have to do with Kensington Gradens Reserve? Well, The Don lived adjacent the reserve for much of his older life, and you can even check out the Bradman Trail, that tours around the area! The Don aside, Kensington Gardens Reserve is a really 'pretty' place, with numerous sporting ovals, Tennis courts and more trees than you would find lining the amazon! Also within the boundary of the reserve is a Kindergarton, Marching/Scottish Band headquarters and, of course, the Kensington Marryatville Bowling Club. You can really lose yourself for quite some time in the park, and it is well worthwhile doing so! There is also a playground and randomly scattered pockets of play equipment for the little tykes (of the biguns who may have indulged a bit too much at a picnic).

Even before high school, I used to come here as a kid and always found it to be a safe and comfortable environment. Bordered by Rivington Grove, Kennaway St and Stirling St, Tusmore Park has a number of great facilities. In the summer there is a wading pool for kids, there are two playgrounds plus a fenced area for extra security, public toilets, and a large grass area for sports. BBQ facilities are also available, as well as picnic areas. There is ample street parking, plus the park provides a lot of shade from surrounding trees. It is a beautiful park, complete with five (I think) free tennis courts as well. It does get busy, especially in summer and on weekends, so get there quick.

I used to come here a lot as a child and have many fond memories. Even in my older years I still frequent Tusmore Park for a spot of inner city landscape painting. There is a small wading pool for small children which is covered by a pergola for sun protection. The creek only really runs in the winter time and even then is quite shallow. There is a bunch of playground equipment as well as bbq facilities. The Hanson reserve provides a sizable patch of grass for ball games and the like. At the base of the reserve is a section reserved for the regrowth native vegetation, as well as a sort of little Forrest of older trees, which is great fun for kids to explore. The park gets quite busy on the weekends during summer, when lots of families have picknicks and bbqs. Probably best to get there early to ensure you get a spot.

Although I didn't see any signs, I can't imagine dogs would be allowed in the fenced playground but there's plenty of room for them to run around on the lawn area beside the playground. There's NO shade and there's no drinking fountain, neither of which Burnside Council seem too eager to put in to their playgrounds. Low and behold, there's also no tennis courts which is almost unheard of! I know I'm being sarcastic, but I would hazard a guess to say that about 85% of the Burnside playgrounds have tennis courts. La-de-da!

Fergusson Square is pretty great for a bunch of reasons, not least of all its ressemblance to the…read moreset of desperate housewives. Its perfectly tended and manicured symmetry, paired with the fact that it is often empty adds a slight suburban freakiness to the perfection. The square is set in the well to do suburb of Toorak Gardens, an inner eastern suburb of Adelaide, located 2 km east of the Adelaide city centre There is some lovely and well cared for childrens play equipment and walkways leading to the centre shaded by dense vines growing over a wooden structure. Some friends of mine got married in the square a couple of years ago, which is what I remembered today when I passed through the space. Despite being smack bang in the middle of private residences, the heart of suburbia, the setting was idyllic on the day and suited their purposes flawlessly. As teens they had spent time there after school, hanging around and being cheeky. A great location for a picnic if you're a local and can't be bothered truckin it (or facing the crowds) in the much larger nearby Tusmore park. Great for kids too.
