Overall good spot. Great service. In total we got fried mozzarella, two orders of baby back ribs, brisket, steak tips, fries, sweet potato fries, baby baked potatoes, mac and cheese, and cornbread. All of the meats were cooked amazingly, but for me personally I am just not super crazy about the sauce. It's a nice light tangy sauce which my partner enjoyed. I definitely prefer something more smokey and dark. All the sides were fantastic as well, no complaints! As well as service. Everyone was very friendly. My family and I have ordered from Woodchucks a few times in the last month. Our son said they have the best chicken fingers ever! From what we have had, everything is delicious! Their pulled pork is excellent and the staff are very friendly. The restaurant is very clean as well which says a lot. Definitely worth checking out! read more

For us, this wasn't what we know as BBQ. The service was fine. I ordered take-out which was packaged fine and the food was hot. That's the best i can offer.My bad, assuming BBQ included actually smoking meat. Came here on a whim as our intial intended destination had no parking available and we are bbq fans. It's a cute spot with a great menu, quick and friendly service, and lots of hometown pride. We really enjoyed the little trivia questions and jokes at the table, it was a nice touch. The "perfect" sauce is aptly named as it was fantastic. Been going here a few years now and last night's bill was excessive bc they charge $3.25 for delivery which you get taxed on, and if you use your credit card they charge you a fee. There is a reason I don't check in here. The frequency with which I stop by is embarrassing. To say I'm addicted to their steak tips is to say nothing. I experience withdrawals if I miss more than 2-3 days. Tried their ribs (I do dry rub or spicy), tried the pulled pork - all very, very good. Eventually will try the wings, but I rarely can tear myself away from the steak tips. Being the spoiled brat I am, I of course customize them to my very weird tastes, but everyone there were AMAZING about it and always get it just right. No grumpiness, no attitude, super understanding and helpful. Don't go just by what I say - all their stuff is fab, I'm just a steak tips/burnt ends fanatic. I'm pretty far - in Toms River - but there's no way I'm going by and not stop - hungry or not. And yes, I will travel there specifically if I have to. Frequent flyer tip: try ALL their sauces. Always stopped in for lunch when is the area over many years but yesterday was a disappointment. Ordered a rack of baby back ribs and plate of beef brisket and found it to be not up to their normal quality. The baby backs ribs were not in a rack but cut in two ribs sections and much thicker and shorted then the rack of varying length, the meat was tough and chewy...definitely not baby backs in my opinion. The beef brisket was also tough and had no taste. Very disappointed and now must find an alternative, maybe will give the old Hickory Hog another shot but since they moved into their new Gerards wine store location we find the atmosphere a turn off. read more

Oh my...where do I begin. We ordered from here on a Sunday evening with friends. EVERYONE was satisfied and raving about how good the food was...and we are all a picky bunch. I forgot what everyone else had, but my friend had the pulled pork sandwich and the fries with everything on them. They were incredible. Thank goodness she shared. My husband had the corn fritters. Thanks to a friend in FL, who sent me pics of her bbq lunch, I was left drooling and craving sticky saucy ribs. Then thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I found this place in Point. We chose the Mac n cheese as the chosen side. They were juicy and so tasty! 4 Star! The m&c reminded me of Stouffers brand which I was totally okay with. Next I went for the lunch ribs that comes with slaw and the choice of one side. I chose the baked beans which were decent. I didn't come for the sides- I came for the BBQ! I wasn't disappointed. They were fall off the bone, juicy and soooo savory. It's a small portion - could be considered a starter for some. Good enough for me who doesn't like to be stuffed. My lunch companion had the sweet brisket panini which was a good size and ended up only having room for half and heated the other half up later for dinner! The sweet potato fries side were sweet. Will definitely be back here. Server was very happy, attentive, and filled up our drinks, making sure we didn't need for anything. The place is nice and airy, bright and clean. This place was pretty good for a northern bbq joint. The dry rub on the ribs was good and the brisket tore apart for the most part. The Mac n cheese and beans didn't impress too much, but the cornbread was dessert like. Out of all the places I've eaten corn fritters, I've never seen or heard of powdered sugar on them. These were the driest ribs I've ever had and they weren't a "full rack" by any means as I ended up with multiple small end bones, I would say I should've had at least had 1/3 more meat. The sauce wasn't spicy or set and they were cold. I called to tell them how bad they were and when employee told me the owner cooked them I was taken back as he should be embarrassed to send out such garbage! I didn't call for refund or anything like that but just for feedback. Anyone that's cooked ribs knows it's pretty hard to overcook them. I ate half of the plate and what you see is what was left that's getting tossed in the garbage which I never do, I ordered a full rack for leftovers. When I review a BBQ joint I look at how busy they are. Not because if they are, the cue must be good, but to determine the process of serving cue after the cooking process is complete. Woodchucks BBQ has some opportunities here. Woodchucks BBQ has some solid points. Service was very friendly and attentive. Immediate greet at the table and plenty of answers to my questions. The restaurant looked busy with plenty of take out orders. Very comfortable and welcoming restaurant. Pulled pork was good, but average. Season well. Good flavor. Very little smoke. It was just not kick me in the butt pork. Nice sauce. Beef brisket was a chop coarse style with a lite coating of sauce. Very tasty, but over done. Lite smoke. The brisket was a nice option, but again not a kick me in the butt option. I finish the beef brisket the next day as a sandwich and was still tasty. Ribs had a well season bark, but a little dry. Had no bite as the meat just pulled off the bone. I could taste the smoke, but again an average rib. The rack across the board was a bit dry for my taste. As you can see the food was either over done or dry. While the ribs, pulled pork and brisket had a good taste, it seem that their holding of food just continue the cooking process. It made everything over done and dry. Overall, if your looking for cue, Woodchucks BBQ is an option. While it is not competition cue or amazing cue, it will curb your appetite for BBQ. The all around combination of service, welcoming environment and food makes Woodchucks BBQ a solid neighborhood destination. It is just not travel out of your way cue joint. read more

3.5 stars which is just ok in my book. The appetizers here have actually been better then the entrees I had. For appetizers I had the chicken skins and the corn fritters. The chicken skins are potatoes topped with pulled chicken, cheese, and bacon. I requested for mine without the bacon as I don't like bacon. They were really good! The corn fritters were also really good too! Definitely order one of them or both! For entrees I had the Mac Daddy Burger, the steak tips and the bbq chicken. The best out of all 3 was the Mac Daddy Burger. It's a burger topped with Mac and cheese, cheddar, and bacon bits. Again I ordered mine without the bacon. The burger was nice and juicy! The Mac and cheese on top needs work though. The bbq chicken and the steak tips were just ok. They needed a better bbq flavor and more of it. The sides I had here were the fries, cornbread, and the Mac and cheese. The fries are the crinkly kind and not that good. They had no seasoning on them either. I prefer hand cut fries instead. The Mac and cheese here was just average. The cornbread is ok/good. Overall it's just ok in my opinion, and doesn't live up to Shore Points BBQ which is also in Point Pleasant. read more
