Third round and and still delicious!!! Finally tried the chicken schnitzel and 10/10. It is enough to share. All the flavors mended so extremely well together and the Spritz drink is a close second to Prairie Line for me. Service continues to be excellent and atmosphere divine. This last time we came for dinner and got to experience the dim lighting and relaxed mood. We even got the same two seater table together as last time (you can request on your reservation - not everyone is fans of sharing the booth/table connections sometimes )

An AMAZING place with very reasonable prices but still has that fine dining feel to it. The peppers for apps are a must and the burger is fantastic. For my side, the fried cauliflower was actually my favorite of the night. I WILL be coming back here.

Wooden city is a hidden gem. The establishment is stunning. The stuffed Hungarian peppers and jerk cauliflower were stand outs. Their surf and turf is phenomenal I just wish there were more lobster dumplings on the plate. Jacob was an amazing server. The drinks were delicious, the pina colada is a must try! I love the exposed brick and rustic vibes. Will definitely be back to try their burger.

I don't give a ton of 5 reviews but everything went great didn't have a reservation and they took 5 of us plus my service animal sat is quickly put us somewhere my dog had plenty of room to lay. The waitress was very good always asking us if we were good. The interior is a renovated old building great place nicely done. Would come back in a heart beat. The menu is a bit limited but when you do a few things great keep with what works.

Wooden City in Birmingham, AL, offers a unique dining experience that blends rustic charm with a modern twist. It's a Resy restaurant in the heart of downtown Birmingham. The layout is spacious, making it suitable for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings or even just a quick bar sit down. Wooden City specializes in wood-fired dishes, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. Renowned for its crispy crust and to die for toppings, this pizza is a must-try. The menu also caters to vegetarians with creative and flavorful dishes. The service was superb. The hosted even made great food recommendations. My party was told to request Caesar dressing to dip the pizza in and it was a game changer. Wooden City stands out not only for its delicious menu and now I know why it's a number 1 recommendation on Yelp.

OMG. It's 2026 and eating is off to an Amazing start! I have been wanting to try Wooden City seems like forever. So, here I am with my Galfriends! We are a party of 5. We got everything! Apps are Caribbean wings, stuffed peppers, bread and butter and Caesar salad! Double yum! Everything tastes good. Entrees front and center are Tavern Burger, fancy burger, chicken sandwich, chicken schnitzel and sausage and mushroom pizza. This stuff here good. The only complaint was not enough seasoning on the chicken schnitzel. We also got the Apple crisp. Just get dessert somewhere else. The standouts of the night are the service and those 2 margaritas. I don't know what yall put in there, but them girls kept singing, I NEED A REFILL!!! YALL already know, I'm grabbing my Boo and coming right on back to WC!

This is one of my favorite date night spots. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing with a great atmosphere, perfect for a night out. The food is consistently good, and I like that the menu changes from time to time, so there's always something new to try. I've been twice, and pictured are the spicy lamb rigatoni and the chicken schnitzel from one visit. I also had an amazing steak on a previous trip, although it's no longer on the menu. Overall, it's a great vibe with solid food and a welcoming setting.

Wooden City is a more upscale casual restaurant. I typically lean towards a reservation here for a birthday dinner or weeknight dinner. Although more casual than the Michelin recommended restaurants in Birmingham, the food is pretty tasty! I took one star off because I have ordered the Summer Salad with grilled shrimp previously and this time they said I could not add shrimp. Additionally, I requested the salad with the dressing on the side as I prefer not having a "wet" salad or unnecessary added calories. Unfortunately the salad came drenched in dressing.

I have mixed reviews about Wooden City. I love that it is located on historic Morris Avenue with its cobblestone street. I also loved the plants throughout the restaurant, the exposed brick, and the tiles that looked like black marble. But I hated how close the tables were in the back. It was hard for people to get into their seats and you felt like you were sitting in your neighbor's lap. Regarding the food and drinks, I liked The Fizz mocktail, and their pepperoni pizza was really good especially with the added honey. I was going to get the vegetarian pizza but that fact that artichoke hearts were on it changed my mind. Also The service was great, but the waiter had to stand behind me because the tables were so close together. I liked that he knew so much about the food and was able to recommend great choices. Also, it was helpful that he wrote, on my leftover box, what was inside and the date.

Surf and turf.

What's great place. Loved the atmosphere and decor. We had reservation and arrived too early so we sat in the sofa until the officially opened. Oops Hostess and waitstaff were stellar. My spouse ordered the surf and turf and I ordered a burger and fry His was great. He ate every bit of it. I skipped the bun, but finished the burger. Was a little too much food for me. Would absolutely cone back again.

I had a great experience. The brussel sprouts are delicious! I had a pork chop with sweet potatoes and veggies. Prices are expensive but quality of food and service are amazing and the ambiance is nice. They do provide a seating limit if busy.

Wooden City on Morris Ave has such a cool vibe the space feels modern and laid-back at the same time, perfect for a dinner out or drinks with friends. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Caribbean spice wings, Caesar salad, and fries, and everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The wings especially stood out flavorful with just the right amount of heat. I also ordered an Old Fashioned, which was not only great but even better knowing that $1 from each one goes to a local organization. Love when restaurants find ways to give back! Between the atmosphere, food, drinks, and great service, Wooden City is easily one of my favorite spots on Morris Ave. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Chicken schnitzel

I was finally able to try Wooden City and I regrettably have to share that it was a bit disappointing. Let's start with the good. The heirloom tomato burrata appetizer was to die for. Truly incredible. The balsamic soaked toast at the bottom yum! The chicken schnitzel was tasty as well. I would eat both of these again. The servers were friendly and unpretentious. The bad. The burger. It is was the world's okayest burger. We would have been okay with it at a lower price point. But, alas... also, the fries were exceedingly basic. Not elevated in any sense of the word. Also. Re: ambiance. It's incredibly loud in there. I don't love having to shout across the table but I realize that's a matter of opinion. The ugly. Why on God's green earth are you seating people at high top tables? My back was aching by the end of the meal and I was so uncomfortable. Please get rid of them. No one wants to sit with their legs dangling and no back support while they eat a $100 plus meal.

The service is *excellent* with a capital "E." We ate at the bar, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about every single aspect of the restaurant. They have tried everything on the menu themselves. They can describe any one of the imported liquors up on the wall. These are real deal professionals who illustrate just how important the people in a restaurant's front truly are. The food? Delicious. It's a wild grab bag of East Asian fare - Chinese, Japanese, Thai - and it's all done extremely well. The portions are small, which is good, since you'll want to try half a dozen things on Current's very deliberately thought-out menu. The Peking Duck is some of the best I've had. The cocktails are also excellent, with my favorite being a delicious, earthy combination of coconut, lime, and pandan. It's like an extremely upscale tiki drink. I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely perfect. 5 stars.

We went for the "favorites" menu which a $65/person was an absolute steal. You get two starters, dumplings and cured red snapper is what was offered. Two entrees, the bo ssam and banana leaf wrapped redfish, and one dessert, the miso tart. Everything was quite good and more than enough food. The dessert was a real winner. I thought about it days after. Looking forward to going back.

That wasn't immediately obvious from many of the reviews I read beforehand, so don't let the hotel location deter you--this is a destination restaurant in its own right. I ordered the braised short rib (without the grits), and it was outstanding. The meat was incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. It easily ranks among the better short rib dishes I've had. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of being available without hovering. The dining room has an upscale yet comfortable atmosphere that makes it just as suitable for a business dinner as it is for a date night or special occasion. If you're visiting downtown Birmingham--or staying at the Redmont--don't overlook Harvest just because it's inside a hotel. It's proof that hotel restaurants can absolutely compete with the city's standalone dining scene. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Birmingham.

Parking is primarily street parking in the area, but there is also a public parking deck nearby. I'm unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it's worth knowing if you're visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.

The hot chicken sandwich itself wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, but it was finger-licking good -- juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying down to the last crumb. We truly enjoyed every bite. The ambience with its bright green, purple and white colors added to the experience. The restaurant was lively and full of people, which is always a good sign. I also caught glimpses of other patrons' dishes, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked just as delicious as what we ordered. Service was friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Staff members seemed genuinely happy to be there and kept things moving smoothly. The location is right in the heart of downtown Bhama, so parking is metered street parking, but the prices were reasonable and worth it for the quality and uniqueness of the food. But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!
