Why 5 stars? Because we're so happy to call this place home. --- --- --- This is Review #3,000 for me, so I guess that means I've punched my ticket to the Yelp Hall of Fame. In following the tradition of #1,000 and #2,000, it's a significant one: our home. If you had told me a couple of years ago, that I would be living in Montgomery, Texas, I never would have believed you. I grew up in Friendswood and had spent the last 15 years in Tampa. My wife grew up in Spring and moved to Tampa one year after I did. We met in Florida and both thought it was just the greatest place ever. Every time we'd come back to Houston to see family over the holidays, we both complained about it the entire time. When we'd like back at TPA, we'd breathe a sigh of relief. For years, we would try to convince our family and friends to join us, but no one ever did. And then we had a child. And then my wife joined me in the remote work force. Suddenly, we needed a larger house. And we wanted to live in a neighborhood with amenities for our son to enjoy. We looked in the Tampa Bay area for months, but just couldn't really find a good fit. So we, reluctantly, considered Houston. I took a trip to drive through every corner of the metro and look at various neighborhoods. We considered Sugar Land, Katy, Cypress, Kingwood and the Woodlands. My wife then took a trip of her own, and discovered Woodforest. It was hard to gauge from afar, because most of it is not available to see on Google Street View. And we weren't too keen on it because most of the neighborhood does not feed to schools with great ratings and it's wayyyy out in the suburbs. But after she checked it out, she knew it was the one. And from everything she told me + the photos/videos she sent, I agreed. We zero'd in on it and then I took a second trip to check out a couple of houses, one of which, we eventually came to call home. Other than the aforementioned location being so far away from humanity, living here is great. I think there are like 17 parks, most of which have playgrounds. We pretty much live at the pool all weekend in the summer. It's of a similar quality of a resort hotel pool with multiple water slides, volleyball, basketball, etc. There's also a lap pool next door and they are building a third pool to open in the summer of 2023. I walk the dog every day and the scenery is so pleasant with plenty of tree coverage. I do wish that all of the houses had sidewalks so we never had to walk in the street, but I'm sure our taxes would be higher if they had to put in sidewalks. But there are plenty of sidewalks all throughout the main sections of the neighborhood. The neighborhood events are pretty lackluster compared to what we envisioned when we moved here. But to be honest, we have enough things to do as it is. Overall, we love living here and would recommend it to anyone. We lived in WOFO from 2019-2021. It was our first home purchase, and I absolutely was more than pleased with the actual home. Unfortunately, the location of our home turned out to be a nightmare in the end. The neighbors are WAY too close, and I mean ALL of them on every side. I am very social and friendly when appropriate, but personally, I am more private when it comes to my home/family/personal space. The people are like animals and act entitled to your property and personal business. So much rude and intrusive questioning and someone is always trying to stir up some kind of drama via Facebook, gossiping, etc. very gang-mentality type of environment. When someone has a problem, for example (this is real), someone's dog barks too To many times or someone has to park on the street in front of their house because there's no driveway space. Normal everyday occurrences would upset certain people and they would blast you on the neighborhood FB page instead of just either letting it go or talking to the neighbor directly if it's REALLY THAT SERIOUS... There are a lot of people who I would say this is their only chance in life to live this kind of "lifestyle" and the overall energy is high school. Lots of passive-aggressive, gossiping, turning against one family, gate-keeping opportunities like sports for kids. Also, if anything happens, just general everyday life mistakes, the gossip will follow and harass your kids at the school. There's a very odd and eerie energy in that place. I was never able to relax, feel comfortable, or feel like I owned my own home! The one uppers, someone's always trying to sell you something $$$ rude and weird unfriendly behavior from other's when I would take my kids to the park to meet people. Everyone is always drinking and flying around recklessly on those stupid golf carts. Overall, we were never initially properly welcomed to the neighborhood, just scavengers demanding our moving boxes to pack for their daughter's college... never even said thank you... we could have re-sold those moving boxes. To piggyback off of the A H., I agree with you 100% I saw 2 little spotted brand new baby deer someone hit and killed in our neighborhood because these assholes with huge trucks drive so fast down the main exit... I mean the speed limit is 25MPH... they manage to kill 2 baby deer. It was really disturbing to see because one of the main attractions for us was the blessing of living around wildlife. ...oh and I forgot to mention, there's also a really weird secret married swinger vibe around some of the people that live there. Lastly, it was a total financial gain for us because we bought at a very reduced rate and sold within 3 years and made $150,000, and moved out of there! 1 MORE THING! THE SCHOOLS ARE HORRIBLE! JUST BE PREPARED TO FIGHT FOR YOUR KID TO GET A FAIR SHOT AND OPPORTUNITY LIKE THE REST OF GATEKEEPERS KIDS. My personal opinion would be to find a home in Willis, TX. A 15-20 min. drive north still close to everything, but just far enough away to feel more country and relaxed. read more

This developer has created a bait and switch, a marketing con job. The "Woodforest" sign is of trees and deer, which the developer is rapidly exterminating for homogenous structures and no significant remaining green space. If you love nature, intact parks with old trees and people who care about a "wood forest," keep looking. The developer is pulling down multi-decade-old biodiverse trees (along with their animal inhabitants) and replacing them with mostly cement, character-free buildings and ubiquitous little stick trees. Beyond keeping trees along the roadways to create an illusion of "forest," no effort is made to preserve any significant swath of trees or create car fume-free walking trails. Only thin slices of flooding zones have been protected despite flooding here during Harvey (which will now be worse with more of the "sponge" of deep forest demolished). Neighbors posting on Facebook about calling the animal catcher on a displaced momma fox trying to find food for her litter. Daily road kill all up and down the surrounding roadways as more and more animals are displaced. Road noise and fumes every time you try to go for a walk. I watch with disgust as what little forest is left is pulled down. This builder had the opportunity to preserve more of this space that sits within one of the world's biodiversity hot spots--imagine what could have been! Look beyond the hype. read more

Go to https://www.crimereports.com and you will see little to no crime in this area. 3. Very quiet neighborhood where you can only hear the wind and the trees. 4. Really friendly neighbors that actually say hi. 5. Amenities 6. Grocery stores and retail are close by. read more

Our friends bought here and have been trying to get us to buy up here because we live 30 minutes away in The Woodlands. We came up today to check out the area and hang by the POOL which is what we do. Well, we got to the 'Adult' pool and found out they really do not in force the 'Adult' pool rules so there was 5-7 kids in it. Our friend told us that they were sold on another large Lap pool going in soon, but now they are building houses on that area instead. While we were sitting there talking, the teenage lifeguards shut down our 'adult' pool because there wasn't enough life guards to watch the pool. We asked why and were told that school was starting so they didn't have enough Life guards. (But, the ones that were there were very professional and it is the owner of their company that is obviously lacking. My friends pay $95 a month for these services. And this is what they get. No thank you. We will buy else where in the area. Bummer. read more

We Love Woodforest and our beautiful new home here! Just minutes from both The Woodlands & Lake Conroe, it's has really expanded our options on places to go & entertainment. After living in The Woodlands for 12 years, moving was certainly an important decision for our family. But after much research we discovered beautiful homesites & top builders, miles of winding hike/bike trails and of course, that wonderful top-rated golf course! Recently the new Woodforest Club House restaurant opened to the delight of all the residents & members. It is simply spectacular! With verandas wrapping around allowing gorgeous views of the green in every direction. It is open to the public and serves both lunch & dinner...and full bar with tons of big screens for sports watching! Also, we really wanted to remain in Montgomery County with great schools....Woodforest fits the bill with new elementary school that opened this fall. Most of our new neighbors are from The Woodlands & we've enjoyed seeing all the growth & new homes, trails, schools & parks going in. Excited for the new Main Street commercial area in front of community. This was not an easy move for us, but so glad we took the leap!!
