Made an appointment at 9:00pm. they took my blood pressure and oxygen then didn't say a word to me after. they took the person who came in at 9:30 pm before me and i just ended up leaving At 10:30. Imagine if i was really struggling hard and i had to go wait in there for an hour and a half. doesn't seem like they care about their patients if that's how I was treated when I came in looking for help. Give the music therapist a raise, give the night nurses a raise, and boot everyone else. I stayed here from Wednesday-Monday, I was in the non violent unit or Willows as they call it, for depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. My first night I was not provided a blanket, and mind you a cold front had just came in and there was no heater, only ac, which they kept on. The beds are firm, like you are sleeping on an elevated floor. Everything felt scattered, I'd ask one nurse a question and then 5 minutes later a different nurse and I'd get a different answer. I hadn't received a blanket until Saturday night, despite me requesting them. I hardly saw the psychiatrist, three times in my stay for roughly 5 minutes. They stated that I would be talked to by a psychiatrist once a day, 30 minutes a day, for my whole stay. Stacy Russel was short with me, condescending, and lied about how my mother, the person paying for the treatment, wanted me to stay longer (mom called me that morning telling me she was trying to me out). They do not communicate anything with me nor my mom, and didn't even mention cost until I was leaving out the door, where they had that barista card scanner, the highest quality tech I saw. Everything was slow, my blood test was delayed over and over again and when it was time it took way longer than it should have. One "group therapist" had us do word-searches and elementary school "about me" sheets as our activity, another had us watch a movie. I would describe it as being in school, close to when a break lets out and the teachers have no idea how to entertain the students for 8 hours, but instead it was a thousand a night, the whole day, with nothing changing. The cafeteria was garbage, with the meals they listed being shallow lies that left me feeling betrayed when I was promised one meal and got another (I know I'm being dramatic about the food but it was horrible) the bread they used was stale and outdated, like a rock, some cafeteria workers denied me food for no reason and just would write me off, EHEM RED HEADED LADY, I REMEMBER YOU!!! The other cafeteria workers were fine but the attitude from her was echoed as abhorrent by the nurses. They would not allow you to talk to a psychiatrist during the weekend if you needed meds changed, which didn't effect me but grossly effected some patients who desperately needed a change and had to wait until Monday. The only thing that positively effected my mental health were the drugs the prescribed for only two weeks after I left, and the fact the TV had the films My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo. In fact I dare say I was lucky with the other patients who were all kind... accept... her... but the patients do nothing for the review. Other than the fact that they gave me crucial information I was not told by staff. Attend every group session, stay out of your room and be in the lobby, and then they will say your mental health is better. Mine was, after my second day, they didn't let me leave though and made me involuntarily. Music therapy however, is one of the few things I would miss, aside from the girl talk, and the short term friendships, the music therapist were both astounding, they cared, it was my favorite group. Seriously I wish I remembered their names but unlike the abhorrent Stacy Russel who I had around my wrists the whole time, it is difficult. They would listen, they would give patience, they were some of the few people who treated us like people and not like some number that prints money. Would rate 0 stars if possible Absolutely horrific. Kept against my will and without medical treatment. Only care about pushing psych meds and do NOT listen to patients. Lie about and to patients and family. Staff bad mouths patients. Saw and experienced being yanked off the ground when having a blackout spell. Told I was faking it. Would NOT allow me to connect with and contact my medical team and denied access to their medical team. Absolutely awful facility that should be avoided at ALL costs. I became MUCH SICKER because of them and am now trying to recover from the damage they have done to me (mentally, emotionally and physically) as well as the damage they have done to my support team outside and family due to the lies they continued to spread AND financially I am in an incredibly bad place and they kept me until my insurance ran out ...which even though I have good insurance....the cost is absolutely astronomical and a joke. Please read for your children: This is for outpatient because it has become obvious to me as an older sister and someone who was previously in the outpatient program as a kid that they are starting lack any actual care or responsibility for these children. Today my sister came home from outpatient moments before my mom had told me that she got a call from her while she was in outpatient asking if she could leave to go hang out with some of her friends in Woodland Springs. They tell you to not trade contact information with these people. I remember being told that they were not our friends but more so peers. It is ridiculous to also know that my sister was able to make this phone call to my mother without being heard or paid attention to because a therapist should have shut that down, but matter of fact usually no therapist sit out in the front with them watching them go home anymore, they are just behind the desk where you can't even see them when you walk in, so obviously they can't even see all the kids. The fact that these kids think that they can leave with each other is also another problem because they are not being watched or checked in and out whenever they leave because when I was in outpatient as a kid I knew (because even I wanted to hangout with people I met) I wouldn't be able to leave with them because we where being WATCHED and not allowed to leave with each other. Obviously this is not the case anymore because they AREN'T BEING WATCHED. I had went up there just now (November 1st at 2:15pm) to ask to speak with a higher up about the situation because I have already complained to them (about not having to check in or out, and that it could be a problem) to be told that there is no one in today that I could speak to, yes, it's a Saturday but do not have at least one person that someone can speak to 24/7 about problems is a problem in end of itself because the person my sister was also trying to leave with was a group of friends, and the driver was a 17 year-old boy, who would I have talked to if there's no one there to talk to and my sister had left with that boy and we weren't able to get a hold of her because she doesn't have a phone. Who do you go to when problems are arising or have happened. There is obviously a serious lack of attention being paid to these kids and I've mentioned it now this is being my second time and it should've been handled the first time the people that are working there act like it is not their problem if they are not involved in that area and that's truly wrong. Woodland Springs does not have it together and they might do good with some of the things and options they have but the outpatient program is seriously messed up coming from somebody who used to be in the outpatient program as a child they have stopped caring, and and I don't believe there's anything you could say or do to make them actually care about it, but I will update this whenever I speak to a higher up and see what their response is and also see if anything actually changes because the first time I talk to them nothing changed. And also the response to my last bad review they did NOTHING so I'm not expecting anything more from this place then to act like they are handling it to make people still believe this is a good place to go. This place should and will be reported to the Texas medical board for review; namely Stacey Russel for lying to my child and not giving the common decency of talking to either I or my child's mom after numerous request. They warped their words to force an involuntary stay and continued to remain hostile to them even though they are the most calm and quiet person you could meet. They also had some people in their ward that did not help the environment as they should've been placed in a ward for violent patients. This place appears to be nice but they DO NOT follow privacy practices. During group sessions, patients will be using cell phones and therapists will not stop them. The possibilty that someone is live streaming or recording the session is very real. The supervisor saw the recording, because they video record group sessions, of when a patient pulled out a phone to reference his conversations and she found nothing wrong with it. Keep in mind they have you sign documents saying you will not use phones during sessions and that your privacy is always protected. In a group of adults, the therapist should be able to maintain the standard of safety but is too afraid to tell anyone to put their phones away. I attended a mix gender and all womens group, both instances the therapist refused to maintain privacy practices. read more

My son's medicine isn't working. They led be to believe that they could help find medication, as an inpatient service, that would safely help him. Wrong! They tricked us into coming in to get paid by insurance. They tried to trick us into a ridiculous partial hospital stay, which includes us driving 45 minutes each way twice a day, for eight weeks. So they could charge our insurance, and we waste our time and paying for gas! What a racket! read more

I was on the sunrise unit (adolesent) and when I was there Dr. Shaak seemed to really believe that giving all the kids with any form of personality disorder (Bipolar, BPD, schizophrenia, DID, you all know the stuff if you're looking here) 3 doses of Benadryl a day! This caused everyone to sleep all day and miss out on therapy. He put me on Hydroxyzine and Risperidone at the same time (2 medications that you should NOT mix together) and I ended up temorarily going from 20/20 vision to needing -5.50 glasses (pretty severe). Several times, there were fellow adolescents who had....physical relations.... in the community bathroom, one kid brought in cigarettes and a lighter. Mrs. Sarah, the elderly therapist, is a racist, she's homophobic and transphobic, and she told us once that "slavery was okay"! She said "tr@nny" to one of my friends. Tilly the therapy rabbit is amazing though and should get a promotion. read more

His arms were covered in ink from makers with the word "KILL" on both arms. I was told done by other patients to help with their anxiety. He was not supervised. He was given PM medication. If he was given pills what they were, why they weren't logged and I was not given a copy of this log. Why did the doctor have time to approve these meds like Trazadone that I SIGNED DURING INTAKE "NOT APPROVE", but didn't have time for 2 days to review his file and continue his medication he's taken since 2017? Disciplinary action towards Dr. Khurram R. Shaikh, Woodlands Springs Hospital management and major changes in their protocol, need to happen so that children are NOT admitted until seen by the doctor and approved for current medication and a discussion with the parents about their course of action with those medications that are agreed upon by parents and doctor before signing off on the intake, releasing child and leaving them in the hands of staff to follow through with an agreed upon medical plan. The protocol should make sure the doctor has "approved" medications before the child's parent leaves the premises and the child is admitted into the program. His other affiliated addresses: 12301 S Main St, The Menninger Clinic, My child has DMDD, and has had concerning behaviors for the past few weeks involving property damage, increased mood instability, and behaviors needing to have bloodwork checked. I wanted to work with staff who I thought would help with outpatient resources as well. I admitted him on my own to Woodland Springs Hospital thinking it was more of a therapeutic behavioral stay. While there for the 4 hour intake process, I signed off on his medication that was typed up in his file. I signed many papers around the medication he takes as well as medications that I would approve and not approve of. I gave them a schedule of his medications, times he has to take these (3 times a day) religiously. He has not missed a dose since 2017 when we started this specific protocol that has been put in place that is supervised by a regular psych.I was later told by my son that he was given 3 meds that night that knocked him out for 11 hours. I approved only melatonin. I asked them in intake, if they had the medications or if I should give them mine. I had them all in a bag in the bottles with prescriptions. I was told they had a pharmacy they WOULD be getting them from. I told them I would leave these here in case they were out or couldn't get them by his next dose which was within the hour. They assured me that they would and they had everything they needed for him. I left and assumed I was leaving my child's health in good hands. The front intake staff seemed caring and falsified a lot of information leading me to believe a big fat lie. Once he was in, they changed their story completely. The next day I called in the afternoon and talked to the nurses on the Sunrise floor. I asked if he had been taking all of his medicine and doing well. I was told by the head nurse that they didn't have any medication on file for him and no he had not taken anything yet. I panicked. I spoke with someone else and she told me that he can not take any medication until the doctor meets with my child and approves his medication, that he may change it!. (This was never told to me or I would not have agreed) I asked if he would be seeing the doctor soon because now he had missed (yesterday's afternoon and night doses, and this morning and afternoon doses) I explained the importance of these as they are anti-seizure medication (2100 mg) high doses and mood stabilizers that can not be cut off, but only weaned off 75 mg a week! If missed he could have seizures and very erratic mood changes. They IGNORANTLY said, "It's just been two days." I was told the doctor hasn't had a chance to meet with him yet, The doctor has left for the day and will be back Monday. I admitted him Thurs morning. I told them that if they couldn't assure me that he would be getting his medication, I was coming there to give it to him or take him home and treat him myself. I got him out after 3 hours. He came out with marker covering his arm in sharpie. He was never given his bag of clothes, books... Wasnt given toiletries while in there. And CPS came to me for medical neglect for getting him against medical advise. He never even met my son, read anything about him, knew his diagnosis, but refused to give him hiscurrent medication, instead wanted to cut off cold turkey these and then hand him back to me in 5 days to deal with the side effects. Needless to say CPS schows up the next day after I filed a Texas Dept Complaint as I promised Id do. read more

This is not a good place to recover for your mental stability. The staff is rude, degrading and disrespectful. They do not treat you like human beings. The food is horrendous and you aren't allowed any sweets. If you're in you lady time you know you need chocolate. On arrival they don't explain any rules, they don't give you information on what you can and can't have. They don't tell you or your family where to call and who to call to get in touch with you. They line you up for lunch like cattle. They treat you like you are a child and not an adult. YOUR self-esteem gets lower than higher. The have group but it's not helpful at all. You learn more from the other people there than the actual person that's suppose to be in charge of the group. They have an art class that's coloring. Like you're in elementary school. Do you know it's 1,500 a day!?! That's with insurance. Imagine without? When you bathe you have to wait for them to give you your shampoo, conditioner and towels. By the way you can only have one very small towel. You can not have a blow dryer. There are men and women in the same floor. Do you know how dangerous and uncomfortable that is? One man said he identified as woman but was hitting on a girl that was there for help. We had to tell him to leave her alone and he was furious and threw a fit. That's why there should not be men and women mixed in that type of situation. They give you snacks throw the day meanwhile you watch the workers eating fabulously right in front of us. If you want to wash clothes, you have to do it yourself but you have to ask permission and then they get mad when you ask because you're bothering them. The doctor that you are waiting to talk to and see is only there to give you prescriptions but you are limited to what you can and can't get. You wait in line to get your medication and if the doctor leaves and you forget a medication the staff has to get in touch with the doctor and if the doctor doesn't answer or they forget to reach the doctor about your medication then you are screwed. Don't have a mental breakdown and go there. The staff would talk to us like children. The staff would complain about us where we could here them. The staff would literally be doing nothing then get mad when we asked for something. To punish us they do their night checks and wake us up and make sure to make noise to wake us up. Then the next day ask how we slept. How can we have a decent night sleep? They wake you up at 4am or 5am to take your vitals. Why? Why can't they wait till we wake up? The night staff is the worse. They are laughing and talking really loud and I couldn't get any sleep. YOU ARE BEING CHARGED TO GET BETTER!! Who can get better with all this? They give you outside time for 30 minutes. If you don't make it because you were taking a bath or asleep then you missed out on seeing the sun and breathing air. Do you know what that does to your mental health? How are these people in charge of people's mental health and stability? They are making things worse. DO NOT GO THERE!! This is a horrible place. The staff do not like their jobs and if you go there you are being punishment. Men and women should NOT be mixed in that type of situation. It's extremely dangerous if men are not okay. They are much stronger and they need several nurses to hold them down or calm them down. A guy was out of control and he was banging his head against the walls and started attacking nurses and then they yelled at us to get I to our rooms which don't have locks. It was terrifying. Not a place I would recommend for adolescents. Although my daughter liked her therapist, there was no weekly updates, no family therapy and the only time we would get an actual call was on her re-assessment update (2 weeks). Went from high number to low numbers in 2 weeks, really?! She was moved from PHP to IOP then was put back in PHP (won't go into details). Received a call 1.5 weeks to say she's doing better and I had to question it and let them know why she was back on PHP. From there they met with her again and reassessed. She was then placed in in-patient care. When your adolescent is placed in In-Patient, they (psychiatrist) are supposed to contact you after 24 hours of in-take. No call. We have left messages w/o returned calls for the most part. We didn't find out what she was diagnosed with until after 7 days. of her being there. After In-Patient, they suggested we try another facility. When asked if Woodland Springs did not wish to have to her attend their facility they said "oh no, that's not it. If you choose to bring her here that is fine." Give or take on how that was said. Ends up this person lied rather than tell us the truth. Wasted our time. This truly is not a place to take your adolescent. Good news, we took her to Pathlight in the Woodlands. That is where to be. They are very informative and has the parents involved from the get go. read more

Usually they take away your jewelry, shoe laces etc. They forgot my necklace and when I was under sedative medication my nurse takes it off of me in my room and when I got home from my stay, it was no where to be found in my belongings. I was told that there was no outpatient openings and I should stay a couple of days and they could correct my medication in that time frame, boy do they tell lies!! Overall experience was decent, most of the staff on the adolescence unit were extremely helpful. Nurses JJ and Sonia were the only things keeping me going while I was there. I visited Woodland Springs Mental Health inpatient for 8 nights from 4/12-20/2020. I was in the Cedars Unit. Overall, I got the help I needed. I think that my doctor (Stacey Russell) and my therapist (Anthony Hopkins) along with other PCA staff (Mo, Alejandra, Rafael, Keirstin, Briauna & Terri) were GREAT. Really made the experience more tolerable for me. I got the help that I needed and was stabilized and will be starting the PHP program immediately. Unfortunately, I did have some less than great interactions with staff members that I think caused more emotional harm than good. I was among many people struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder. You name it. I witnessed some staff members (Katrina the nurse, Tina the PCA) treat patients very poorly on Saturday 4/18. Katrina is very uncompassionate and just to be frank... rude. I witnessed a 65 year old woman have a panic attack for 45 minutes because Katrina would not pull her Ativan. The staff needs to understand that some patients need their "as needed" medication at times that might not be convenient. I also witnessed Katrina let a patient with Neuropathy crawl to his room and yelled at me to "go to bed" whenever I attempted to help this patient. She was just sitting behind the counter watching him crawl. He said she laughed at him. The environment on Saturday 4/18 was not healthy for me. The worst part? Katrina was back on 4/19 to "care" for us and yelled at a patient who asked for his medication that she's "not his personal servant". I would like to see Katrina reprimanded for her actions and neglect toward these patients. She did much more harm than good on this day. I am optimistic that the partial hospitalization program can help me and I'm so sad that I had that experience on 4/18. I wish my review was great but for what happened on Saturday this place does not deserve more than 3 stars until they take care of the issue with their staff. I did file a grievance for the neglect I witnessed with my patient care advocate and I hope it is followed through. read more

I took my wife here a week ago for anxiety. They have changed her medications and she is now worse than when she went in. She is experiencing hallucinations. She is still wearing the same clothes as when she went in. When I tried to get her out, they said she had to ask to be released but they refused to go ask her. They threatened me with keeping her there and making me get a lawyer to get her out. They stated that the only way I could get her out myself would be to go to court and get guardianship of her and that would take a long time to get it done. read more

Expensive and not helpful with our teen. Our 17 year old son had several episodes with his mental health and as a last resort we came to this facility for guidance and help. Upon our fist visit- the intake they called it, we were able to tell an employee at the facility what had been happening and how dysfunctional our son was acting at home. She seemed to understand our situation and told us he qualified for care. The price tag was shocking but we were not capable of dealing with his mental health and didn't really have an alternative. This facility told us up front that he would be able to meet with a psychiatrist, we would meet together as a family and get counseling for our son. My son began the program and lied repeatedly to the therapist. One of our problems with our child is that he struggles with fact vs fiction and it has created many issues at home. Instead of discussing the story he was sharing at the facility with us, she basically told him that we were the problem. This was according to our son, so as a result- I called and spoke with her. She was extremely rude and not helpful, she couldn't explain why his appointment with the psychiatrist had been canceled repeatedly and by the time I talked her into meeting with our family, she was let go from the facility. My husband and I both changed our schedules around to meet for a mid-day appointment with this counselor and when we arrived they told us the counselor had been fired or re-assigned. ( We weren't very clear about the fate of the counselor). At this time, we had not seen any improvment in the mental health of our son so I was intent on speaking to a therapist. After I became irrate in the lobby, I was directed to a new counselor that had been assigned that morning and she also was very upset with the facility and their lack of correspondence. I don't mean she was upset with them for me, she also indicated the faciltiy was not well run and had many issues. We never spoke to a psychiatrist, we are still having issues with mental health episodes with our son and the facility is not responsive when I call them to discuss my dissatisfaction with the care we received. They keep billing me for the balance and I would like the opportunity to speak with someone and express my frustration because we did not see any improvement. I'd like to have the care we purchased. Do not send anyone there!! I was admitted to the sunrise unit for 8 days and It was the worst 8 days of my life. There is absolutely no treatment plan. They don't listen to you and they don't care about you at all. I was shocked at how the staff acted. They were so unprofessional. There were staff trying to fight the patients, staff encouraging fights among the patients, and constant arguing between them. They are so incredibly insensitive and rude. They will make fun of your trauma and belittle you if you have a problem. We were yelled at when we didn't meet our goal for the day and called weak when we cried. I was yelled at for comforting a patient having a panic attack because she got yelled at by the night staff for needing sleep meds and for helping a schizophrenic boy ground himself while having an episode. They told me that he needed to get over it and stop being dramatic. The floor was never clean either. When you walk around, the bottom of your socks will be black. We didn't have towels for three days, we didn't have laundry detergent for 4, and the food we were served literally made patients throw up. When we critiqued it, the cook disappeared for a few days and we had to eat sandwiches made by the PCA's. I told them I was a vegetarian when i first got admitted and multiple times throughout my stay but they kept giving me meat and yelled at me when i only ate a small portion of my food. We got in trouble when we tried to talk about our actual problems because they were too inappropriate. Not to mention, they threatened to keep us longer for talking back to the staff. They constantly change your meds without bothering to check up on you and you barely get to talk to your psychiatrist. And when you do, they never listen when you tell them whether you need them changed or upped. Their outpatient program is horrible too. There are absolutely no good therapists. We yet again got yelled out for talking about our problems because they were too inappropriate. I got told that "being transgender was a choice" and was constantly deadnamed/misgendered by one therapist. They will send you to get reevaluated for inpateint if you do as much as say you are having some suicidal ideation or a small urge to self harm/do drugs. It was horrible. I saw five people in a row from my group be admitted in one week (myself included). My friend that also went there has told me many things. When he was in the sunrise unit, they played a "motivational video" which triggered all of the girls unit but instead of turning it off, staff yelled at them. They said it wasn't triggering and that they were doing it for attention. When staff was busy and the patients were helping each-other through panic attacks, staff would yell at them. Staff sent a schizophrenic girl having an episode to the isolation room which is a small room with one window and they keep you there for a few hours. My friend with Tourette Syndrome was ticcing due to anxiety and the staff yelled at them and said that they could control it when they couldn't. I have multiple friends from outpatient, inpateint, and even friends i met in an outside setting that have been here and all of them said it was the worst experience they've ever had. We all came out more traumatized than we were when we went in. I beg you, please find somewhere else. All they care about is your money, not the care of the patients. read more

DO NOT even take your DOG here. Seriously. They will try to hold you against your own will even when you are looking to voluntarily admit yourself. If you let them wand down your body (hand held metal detector) and go through those first doors, you will be locked in. You will not be able to just go back out to the reception area. You will not be allowed to leave at your own will. Do not believe anything you read on their website. I speak from experience as I literally escaped from there last night. YES ESCAPED! I had not signed any documentation or consent for treatment when they informed me that I had already been admitted and could no longer leave on my own accord. I informed them that I was not going to admit myself when they told me that it was too late because I had already been admitted. When an unsuspecting employee came by with her key card to open the door, I had no option but to shove my way through and make a run for it. Someone hit a panic/lock down button but it was too late because I had already made it through the front door. After that they sent an orderly out to restrain me. That did not happen. Then of course they called the police. It was very STRESSFUL. I was only looking at the facility for the purpose of detoxing from prescription medication. I could go on and on. But I won't. Just do not go here at all cost. read more

Do not take anyone you care about to this facility. They do not treat, they do not listen, they do nothing. On the advise of a therapist, we took a family member suffering from major depressive disorder and anxiety here and it was the worst decision ever made. There is zero treatment plan. They do not listen and they are not interested in helping. I'm shocked that facilities with this complete lack of professionalism and help are allowed to bill insurance companies. If you are an insurer, you should not be paying for this facility, you should steer insured patients far and away from here. If you are a therapist and recommend this place, seriously take a look at why you do so. They did much more harm than good. I have zero trust in the mental health industry at this point, because of this experience. Please, please do not take anyone who needs help here, they will get nothing ... oh wait, they will get hours and hours and hours of time to do word search puzzles, sudoku and color sheets, that is apparently their treatment plan. read more

This is my second note. If it wasnot deleted. I wrote about Dr Stacey Russell telling my son that we were both manipulative. She doesn't know me nor my son. She released him within a few days he was hallucinating again. She blamed him. I gave him his medication. A few days later Dr khurran Shaikh was doctor after being readmitted. I thought he was a little more competent I was wrong. Somebody sent prescriptions to pharmacy. Within a few days he was psychotic again. This time the adavan was not sent to the pharmacy. but did send prescription that he had three weeks ago when he was there the first time. He was notified from woodland springs through email and text he chose not to respond. Putting my son myself and everyone else in danger. I have two days left from which the emergency room doctor only gave him a few days pills. Keep in mind that each time visits were accompanied by two visits from the police department. Who says well he is fine now he knows his name and phone number. Including one visit where I had to get him to another county (hallucinating and all) to get help for him. That time the hospital did not give him any thing to calm him down. This county (polk)said he is not crazy enough. They just don't care. iThat being the people that are the authorities all say it is somebody else's fault not theirs. Six months later four hospitals and four mental hospitals. How many people have to die. But we will all hear we are so sorry. No doubt some of the murders going on in Houston is from mentally ill people. When is enough enough other then platitudes. I wish you luck if you or your loved ones are having problems.
