Their motto "If it's broken, we fix it" is a joke. They are not repairers!…read moreMy Panasonic microwave failed. It was a built in model and all the new (replacement) ones are now a different size and would not fit into the existing cabinet layout so I really needed it repaired. The fault was diagnosed as being caused by the globe shorting and causing an arc on the printed circuit board. Whilst the diagnosis was correct they only wanted to replace the board with a new one even though the board was no longer available. Their solution was to scrap the item. However the board repair was a simple and not an uncommon fix for a repairer as the burnt out trace on the board was easily repairable (see below). I suggested that I obtain an identical working second hand unit and salvage a circuit board . That suggestion was met with negativity, even though I again explained my issue with a new replacement. Because I needed the item repaired I took it home and dismantled it, removed the circuit board where the arc (and burnout of the copper circuit line) was clearly visible. I soldered in a bridge for the 2 mm section of burnt out circuit line, which was about two minutes work, replaced the bulb, and reassembled the unit which has been operating perfectly since. They are not repairers, they knew my issue, but no empathy with my issue. They could easily have suggested/done this repair. I should not have had to do this repair myself. They should have suggested the repair it even if they disclaimed liability/warranty for the repair. This board repair was a simple and not uncommon fix for a repairer and easy for a layman such as myself Four stars for accurate diagnosis. Zero stars for doing their job as repairers and customer service. I have since found a true electrical appliance repairer should I need one in the future.

Response to Robert Dorr…read more Response to Robert Dorr's review. Panasonic Microwave. When Mr Dorr presented his 15 year old Panasonic microwave oven to Peninsula TV & Video Service before the oven was booked in we advised that it could be assessed but the chances of a repaired outcome were of a minimum due to the fact that the parts were no longer available from the manufacturer. He requested an inspection anyway. As requested for a small fee we correctly diagnosed the fault. Checked on the availability of parts and then advised Mr Dorr of the negative result in repair. We also advised him as to why we could not use second hand parts or modify the unit as he has since done. This is the reason why we couldn't modify the oven or use second parts. The repair/modification that Mr Dorr has done has meant that the microwave oven is now out of Australian Compliance and effectively illegal and should not be used at all. The burnt out circuit board track is actually a protection fuse built into the circuit board. It's function is to prevent a fire being caused by a blown Lamp assembly continuing to conduct after it fails. This is what happened in this case - hence the printed circuit track fuse being blown. With modifying the microwave oven by shorting out blown fusible printed circuit board track a safety feature has been removed. In the event of a fire, loss of property, physical injury, death(God forbid) or subsequent civil claim against the manufacturer or claim on house insurance, this modification when investigated (and they do investigate) will be used as a legal excuse to not pay up. The responsibility is then placed upon the party or individual who did the modification. The Australian Government through ACCC have very heavy fines and imprisonment penalties for any Repairer doing this sort of thing also. It is illegal for Peninsula TV to modify anything that breaches Common Law or Australian Compliance. Peninsula TV acted responsibly by not repairing your oven Mr Dorr. Also as a representative of over 70 manufacturers we are bound by their governance and conduct as agreed upon by both parties. In relation to second hand parts. We are bound by our legal agreements with the manufacturers to not use untested unverified second hand parts. Who knows what condition they are in? In conclusion. This is why you should never repair anything yourself or use a dubious repair person or company who has not be trained by The Manufacturer. You stated in your review Mr Dorr that the oven is now working fine. That might be well and good for now until the next time the Lamp assembly blows. By your own admission you have removed the fusible link in the control circuit board. What will be protecting you and your house from further damage? Please note - I have taken a copy of this review as an admission of evidence from yourself that you have modified your oven. Enough said. Another one in my line of 'homeowner' reviews, I was expecting to negotiate a little more than I…read moreactually did when I visited them. Discount without even asking. Excellent. Also carried my purchase out to the car, lovely service.

Terrible service. Went to buy portable DVD player that their website specified they had in store;…read morethe only one left was a display model, which they were VERY reluctant to sell. Once the manager ok'd the sale, they took. a whole 80c off the ticket price! No box, ex-display with an 80c discount...AND we payed cash! Staff rudely told me that I was paying "the online price" so should not expect any further discount! We had traveled over 40kms to get there, so we purchased it...took it out to the car and saw it was supposed to come with a remote too! We returned to store to be told that we could not have it, and they gave us a refund. We decided to check the Mornington store, and they had stock of the same DVD player...(which Frankston branch didn't offer to check for us...worst customer service ever)...and it was cheaper than Frankston! We ended up with a new model, IN the box, with a remote,....for less than Frankston store price! And the staff were friendly and had no problem giving us a small cash discount even though THEY TOO were selling the unit for the "online price" All in all, customer service was terrible, and the so-called "pay less-pay cash" deal was an ABSOLUTE JOKE. I will never shop at Good Guys Frankston again
