I first contacted Woods and Woods to help me appeal my denied V. A. claims in 2017. We were successful in obtaining a 10% rating, however my appeal of my Agent Orange claim was still denied. Periodically I would receive informational emails. A few months ago I received an email indicating that the V. A. was reevaluating denied toxic chemical claims. I reached out and underwent an interview with their representative who in turn completed the appropriate appeal and new claim paperwork and then submitted them to the V. A. It wasn't too much later I was contacted by the V. A. The bottom line is that without the help of this firm I would not have been compensated for my Vietnam service connected issues. I'm currently represented by Woods and Woods. They have got my rating up, and hopefully are continuing to work my IU sup claim. For that, I'm grateful. I have had some wonderful case managers but my current case manager doesn't seem to have the care the others did. Cassie and Jessica were amazing. Always returned my calls, always replied to emails. My current case manager rarely replies to emails and doesn't return my phone calls. I've asked a couple times now for clarification on a VA decision, only to hear crickets. It's up & down with Woods & Woods. Every time a claim they submit is denied they wait the full year grace period before submitting an appeal. They told me I'd need to agree to pay to see a staff psychiatrist which I did & then waited for 10 months before someone name Katie emailed me stating that someone from another company would call me on Friday to schedule the exam so make sure I wait for the call. I stayed up all day waiting for a call on Friday & no one called. I emailed Katie on Friday informing her no one called. I received a email today from Katie stating she received an email Friday saying they did call my number & was waiting for me to call back. Katie gave me their number & said call them. I replied with a screenshot of my phone call log & showed there was no missed calls from an 812 number on Friday. I further replied that I stayed up Friday waiting on a call that never came & now I need to reach out to them! That doesn't sit right with me. I send the email & got no reply. I spoke with Jesse Southard 2 or 3 times on the phone and she was rude, in a hurry, and was, I noticed, very adept at "talking down" to me. She told me to get this and that paperwork from VA, could not have cared less about my questions to her, and the underlying tone of her conversation was one of impatience. They looked over my decision letter and quickly realized that the VA had improperly processed my claim. W and W did not pick up on this. Pretty inept. As other veterans have complained about their lack of response, this was also the case with me. I did all of the work for the disability case myself. They did not return phone calls, and even a VA disability advisor said using them almost lost me my case. Actually, I fired them before the settlement, but VA still paid them $7000 out of my claim. This was seven years ago, but when I read other veteran's reviews about them being unresponsive, they are not kidding. I do not want other vets to go through the hassles I did with these people. After that submission, I received followup texts, emails, and calls requesting documents that I had already submitted from different associates. I filled out a contact form on their website about DIC benefits and me being a substitute person on my late husband's claim for Agent Orange and ischemic heart disease and a woman called me back and she identified herself as being from Woods and Woods and was silent (she asked NO questions and gave no greeting). There as dead air on the phone literally for several seconds. I told her that I filled out a form online and what questions or info did she have for me based on what I asked to see if they could assist me. She said what do you want to know? I got NO indication that she read my questions or that she had any interest in her job. Her tone was curt and rude like I was bothering her that she had to make the call to me. I have my own business and know the importance of the first contact. If this is what this firm is like when they are trying to get your business, I'd hate to see what they are like when they have it. They will not accept your case if you are working, which many of us have to if we don't want to be homeless despite the pain it causes us. Wow. I guess they don't want me as a client. Have sent e mails, and drove to their office. The woman I was e mailing with suggested i go to the office as she could not assist. So I did. Was met by a woman in a very inappropriate sweat pants and t shirt who referred me back to the e mail lady. Then messaged the e mail lady back and decided enough was enough. This law firm helped me win my VA case as a widow. The case lasted over 5 years- mainly related to waiting on the C-file to come in from the VA. Because of the backlog in the VA for C-file requests- it took the law firm over 4 years to receive the C-file. Once the C-file was received- statements were gathered, evaluations made, records reviewed, and now awaited for new evidence to be reviewed by a VA judge. I signed up with W&W in early 2020. in the beginning they were good to me but then they started to ignore me. They dragged their feet on time and i believe this is to inflate their 20% fee. I had even recommended some fellow veterans and like many others here the intake manager was extremely rude to them. I started to have my doubts. They fed me timelines of 1 year - then 1.6 then 2 and then 3 and now they say they cant assure me of any time lines because the VA is understaffed and over loaded with cases. They keep stringing me along. They switch you from case manager to case manager and give you the same old excuses. They're pretty robotic at this point as im sure they dont care and they just keep people on the hook and collect their fee - Im willing to give them 2 stars because or my newest case manager Kristi whos at least been honest with me. Don't walk away, run! I read all the negative reviews and decided to ignore them because I saw a lot of good reviews. Well I don't believe for one second that those good reviews are legit. That or they were insanely easy cases for Woods and Woods. Probably cases that the service members could have handled by going to the DAV. I was their client for about 10 months and they dropped me two weeks before the deadline to file an appeal because things got a little complicated. They basically called and grilled me becuase I told them that my wife owned a new business and they tried saying I worked a lot to help her. It was insane, they clearly wanted to just drop the case and looked for the first excuse to do so. Expect them to take about 3-4 weeks just to onboard you. You will get assigned a snobby "case manager" that doesn't give a crap about you and you will never speak to an actual attorney. You just won't. Go ahead and try. Oh and they don't go to court for you. So if they suspect your case is even a tiny bit difficult, they'll drop you in a second leaving you high and dry to fend for yourself. Don't listen to me at your own risk. But you'll think back on this review and wish you did. I know that I did. P.S. I was assigned 3 different case managers in 10 months. I really do not believe they do not live up to what their website says regarding assisting veterans. They say they promise to assist veterans and guide you through the process which is clearly false. They also state, "We fight for you when you need help the most." That again is not true because I was just told they decided not to assist me with my case. They claim they ONLY assist veterans in obtaining 100% disability rating. So if you are not looking or think your case meets those requirements don't even bother. It was just frustrating because I felt with two different case managers sending the same requested documents and intake. They just wasted my time since I have so much time to file an appeal. I am in the process of revoking my power of attorney from Woods and Woods Law firm. I truly believe that the foundation is good and they mean well but I have had at least 2 different case managers and the latest one does not communicate well with me. I will not speak ill of the law firm but they really need to look at the case managers. I understand that the attorneys are very good at what they do but I have never spoken with an attorney. I am just starting with this firm to help me with my VA Appeal. I am the slow one in the equation. Due to power and water problems at our house, I am slow filling out and returning the paperwork. I have more difficulty organizing my thoughts and necessary documents than I would have years ago. This is a warning to all veterans, do not hire Woods and Woods to help you with your claim, they are the most incompetent firm there is. I fired them over two years ago and if you decide to go with them you will too. Woods and Woods did nothing to help me with my claim and did not put one cent into my pocket. After firing them over two years ago, they are still receiving 20 percent of earnings I am awarded by someone who knew what they were doing and they will do the same to you. They are taking money for doing absolutely nothing they did to earn. it was only after I fired them that my ratings begin to increase, by going with someone that knew what they were doing. I called the toll free number. I spoke to someone on the phone and they asked me if the number I was calling from was a good to call me on. I answered yes. They then told me that were sending me to an intake specialist. Silence and then disconnection. OK. Since they asked me if the number I was calling from was a good call back number, this is my opportunity to test the company and see how there Customer Service is. After all, if they're going to represent me to the Veterans Administration, I'd like competent representation. So I figured I'd give them abut 30 minutes to see if they'll call me back. 40 minutes later, nothing. Still, I need someone's expertise, so I call back. I get Alexis. I tell her what happened and she explains to me that their system is automated and they don't see my number so it never got saved. OK. However, I say, if someone asks me if the number I'm calling from is correct and I say yes, it's obvious the number has been verified. Hopefully everyone at their office knows the system doesn't save the number up front, so if you ask someone if the number they're calling from is correct, you've written it down. So she replies, again with the same spiel about how the system is automated and I repeat myself. But then I tell her never mind, I just need to be routed to an intake specialist. . Instead she continues to talk about the system and I again tell her I need to speak to an intake specialist, but she's still not listening. Finally I tell her I just want to to be sent to the specialist or don't bother. She's says, okay, have a good day AND HANGS UP! I guess I should be grateful she told me to have a good day........ Very disappointed, My mother has been working with this firm since March 2018. She originally was working with a man named Tyler who she said was amazing. She then was transferred to a woman named Devin recently who she was constantly telling me was hard to work with. Now, just today a man named Edwin called and told her that "We are full of clients and are no longer accepting any more".
