Thanks Alisha for the short game refresher and strategy lesson. Giovanna shot a 49 the next day…read moreand won a 2nd place medal!! Always improving thanks to you and Maria.

I did the 1 hr individual assessment with Alisha Matthews and couldn't be happier. Of course the…read moreresults remain to be seen...its up to me to use the information and guidance Alisha provided but here are my post-assessment thoughts: - First Alisha is fantastic to work with! Very personable, very knowledgeable, appears to be a GREAT listener (!!!), relays information in usable ways, and doesn't overload you with comments, thoughts, changes. This was my first time meeting / working with Alisha and the experience was very enjoyable. - Alisha started off our assessment asking me a host of questions, which was refreshing. She asked questions covering my golf experience, my background with golf (and other sports), my goal(s), my golf frequency, why I was there, etc. It was a wonderful way for us to get to know each other. Off to a good start! - Alisha watched me warm up then hit some balls. Good conversation along the way, a couple of "atta boys" during the warmup and swings. Then the fun began. Alisha video'ed me swinging and pointed out some areas we were going to work on. All which was explained in very understandable terms. - Then 3 drills to help a couple of key areas, which I practiced while she observed...extremely helpful and something I could continue to work on. - We talked about next steps, which Alisha left totally up to me...no pressure, no "sign up now" focus. I probably left out something along the way but my assessment was well worth the investment. Alisha seems like an incredible instructor and I'd highly recommend her. I'll be working on the "homework" Alisha gave me then looking to book more time with her.

I friend who I was just playing golf with in Mexico has improved his game, and credits Jay Davis. Jay is in Springfield, Illinois. This does not help me, I'm obviously not traveling 3 hours from Chicago to Springfield for a golf lesson. I do go to downstate Illinois, Springfield and St. Louis a couple times a year, so I figured I'll try and schedule a golf lesson with Jay when I'm near him. Last week I discovered Jay was visiting Chicago, and he planned on doing playing lessons in Chicago for a few select clients each month. This is what I have needed, to start the lesson on the range, then to take a golf instructor onto a golf course. I just had my first golf lesson with Jay Davis, here in Chicago, and it was at the driving range. He is a great teacher. He took my golf swing, which has 20 years of abuse and muscle memory, and made it easier for me to hit the ball square and consistently. I could go on all day, but the bottom line is, I have an appointment for a golf lesson scheduled for April, a playing lesson. It will be here in Chicago, and I am excited to get on the course. I am so confident that my game is going to improve through his instruction, I am keeping a card this year. Jay Davis is primarily teaching golf in Springfield, Illinois, but he is visiting Chicago on occasion. I think Jay Davis is the best golf instructor I have worked with in 20 years of learning, practicing, and playing golf. If you enjoy golf, or if you play golf, and have lost money to your golf buddies, you should fix your golf game. Call Jay Davis.

I cannot speak to Jay's ability to improve your golf game. As I have never used this service. But I…read morecan say that the number associated on this yelp page is incorrect. The number is to a person who is not Jay and mentioned that he constantly gets calls about people looking for Jay. I would recommend trying to find another number as you will get nowhere with this, and probably annoy someone in the process.

I had one of the most disappointing experiences at GolfTec Clayton today and I feel compelled to…read moreshare it. I called a week in advance to book a simulator rental for an hour, which I was told would cost $50. That seemed reasonable, so I went ahead. When I arrived, there was nobody at the front desk and no one available to help me set things up. After wandering around, I finally asked one of the instructors in another bay if he could assist. He was completely unhelpful, told me he didn't know how to adjust the simulator settings properly, and basically just shrugged off my requests. To make matters worse, the simulator itself was glitchy and wasn't recording my yardages accurately. I specifically needed it set up for a left-handed player, and he just refused to help or even try to figure it out. An hour went by with barely any assistance, and then he tried to charge me $100 instead of the $50 I was originally quoted, claiming it was actually $50 for just 30 minutes. Overall, it was a terrible experience. The staff was unprofessional and unhelpful, and the equipment didn't even work properly. I definitely won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

Mike is a good teacher and likes to try to make the learning understandable by comparing it to something you already know about. For me it's dance, which really is nothing like golf, but at least understanding that I've been trained to do the opposite my whole life is actually really helpful. Not really cheap, but private lessons in anything never are, and they're not ungodly overpriced, which is nice. I bought a 10-lesson package, so we'll see how it goes! Parking is a pain, as the garage is really full no matter what time of day I go (I've gone with BF for his before), but there's coffee right across the street, and I can't complain about that.
