Woods always has good food. As soon as you sit down, they bring you a basket of hush puppies, rolls butter and tarter sauce. The service is always great. We've been there several times. The last time, we were shocked at the jump in prices. A half order of catfish (two small fillets) and two sides with a drink was $30! My order was about the same. This place is way over priced for below average food. It was 70.00 for two ppl. Combined there were 4 pieces of fish. The fish was over cooked and tasted like it had been cooked in old oil. Two chicken strips. These strips were just bagged strips. Neither the fish nor the chicken had any taste to it. We got an appetizer of jalapeño bacon wrapped shrimp. There was a sliver of jalapeño and it was so over cooked the bacon was hard as a rock and the shrimp were ruined. The waitress was nice and attentive. The hush puppies and French fries were swimming in coleslaw juice, the fish and fries were cold and the coleslaw was warm. I found my meal was better off in the trash. $50 for an inedible meal!!!! Shameful! While we were waiting for our meal, they were quick to ask everyone if they wanted to add a tip to their bill, but not one to go order got asked if they wanted utensils and napkins. I look forward to eating at Wood's Place every time I visit my family in Arkansas! It has the country kitchen/cafe feel, and the food is amazing! All the fish is completely fresh and tasty! I live the catfish meal, and I usually have a hard time deciding between that or the pulled pork sandwich. This time I had a Pulled Pork Sandwich and a side salad with ranch dressing. So good! The pulled pork sandwich is simple, but totally hits the spot every time! I love the buttermilk dinner rolls and hush puppies that are served free with your meal! They melt in your mouth! My dad had the full tilapia meal. It was a lot of fish...so much that I even got to eat some of it! Definitely fresh and great quality! The sweet tea is perfect! Stopped in for lunch while on a road-trip. The space was clean and they did a great job adhering to COVID-19 precautions. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was great- basket of hush puppies as soon as we were seated. We went with the fried fish platter and fried fish sandwich (batter was well seasoned and the fish was nice and flakey). Sides of fresh cut tomatoes (super juicy and delicious) and french fries (perfectly cooked). Finished it off with a fried apple handpie (flakey and delicious with the right amount of filling). Well this is my Dad and my Grandfather's go to spot when in Camden. They grew up down there so I trusted their judgement on places to eat. The first thing as you walk in you are greeted by friendly faces. Places like this usually have a great daily special and today was no difference. Chicken gizzards and two sides. These were the best chicken gizzards I have had in the 35 years existence of my life. and trust me I have had quite a few. They were well seasoned, crunchy, they almost had the taste of a popcorn chicken. I also ordered onion rings and fried okra. Next time I need to remind myself to get something that isn't fried.
