Our first floor room opens into a nice patio with seats to watch the water and nature. It is also very convenient to the full kitchen. The continental breakfast selection is outstanding. Cereals, fruits, bread, muffins, pastries, ramen, juices, coffee and if you are willing to cook a bit, there are eggs in the refrigerator. The stay also includes one load of laundry, so I had clean clothes for the trip home. Would I stay there again? Yes!

We quickly booked a four-night trip to Ketchikan for some much needed Rain Replacement Therapy. Many of the local hotels are described as "rustic" and "quaint" which, as seasoned travelers, we know to mean, "few amenities," "no elevator" and "pretty much DIY." Luckily, we found the website for Thomas Street Vacation Rentals. The site offered three rental options: House; Apartment; and Studio. We booked the "House" which was basically -- you guessed it -- a house. Two (or three) bedrooms, one and a half baths, a full service kitchen, large comfy living room, spacious deck, washer/dryer and all the amenities you could wish for. Our hostess, Jane, even picked us up at the airport ferry and provided breakfast foods and snacks. It cost much less than the most rustic hotel we found and we had room to spread out and enjoy ourselves. The location was perfect - walking distance to basically everything and beautiful views of the pier and surrounding areas. Plus, crawling distance to one of the locals' favorite watering holes. (Not that that happened. YouTube lies!) In short, I'd recommend it to anyone and can't imagine staying anywhere else if our precipitations levels fall dangerously low in the future.
