On a street most people take to get out of Holyoke (one-way), I dare suggest to take a trip IN to this tavern. After the big St. Patrick's Day Race, we stopped in after Yelp suggested this was both on our way home AND a better bet than the food trucks. We were surprised that parking was a breeze, with multiple entrances. The seating os designed to fit couples or larger groups comfortably, and you can tell the local love to sit around the long bar and chat. We loved our booth! The staff was quick, knew a lot about the different food options, and cocktail selection and beer selection was great. We chose a different cocktail from the list, and shared a bunch of appetizers. The sprouts were good, and the wings were tasty. I think the only thing that got a "nah" was the crab cake. I definitely have it on my list to go back for a meal, noting several dinner specials that met my creative palette. read more

Two of us went for dinner an early dinner on Saturday -- and were seated at booth. We ordered drinks (an ale and a cranberry juice), watermelon salad, and Mexican street corn (without the gluten). Then for our meals we had the seared salmon and statler chicken breast. Everything was delicious -- and even though it seemed a bit small, it was the perfect portion for us. After a trip to the mall, we decided to stop by this restaurant. We parked on the one-way street out front, but there's also parking behind the restaurant, which might be a bit safer. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated in the bar area, which features a long bar and high-top tables. They have a solid selection of beer and alcohol. We started with the chili, topped with cheese and served with chips for dipping--it was delicious. My wife ordered the turkey club, while I opted for the tomato bisque with a grilled cheese sandwich. She enjoyed her club, and I loved my grilled cheese; it was very cheesy and made with Texas toast. However, I found the bisque a bit too thick for my taste. The servers were friendly, and we'll definitely return. I learned that they have separate lunch and dinner menus--unfortunately, I didn't realize I was looking at the dinner menu when I saw the steak, which isn't available during lunch. read more

Had lunch here recently and we were very pleasantly surprised! We ordered shrimp tacos and a fried fish sandwich! There were 3 shrimp tacos with 2 shrimp on each. They were very small but tasty and came with yummy rosemary fries. The fish sandwich had a large, perfectly cooked piece of fish and was so good. It also came with the fries. Woodstone offers patio dining amidst a garden of perennials and hanging plants. They have recently eliminated weekly entertainment as they move towards an upscale dining experience. My dining partner chose fried oysters as an appetizer. He devoured them. For our entree, we chose rigatoni bolognese. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente but overall the bolognese was lacking. I usually choose a sandwich option here but burger was the only choice this evening. Service was great as was the mango margarita. Parking can be challenging and we had to circle a few times before finding a spot in their lot. read more

My wife and I have made Woodstone one of our favorite pubs to visit. Every menu item we have tried we have really enjoyed! The service continues to be friendly and attentive. The tavern has a very unpretentious vide that we love! Most recently, we had the Irish nachos and they were so delicious! They are served with their house made potato chips, topped with corned beef, thousand island dressing, sour cream and scallions. Amazing! We both had the beef fillet special which was excellent! I especially appreciate that the truffle butter actually has black truffle in it! We really like the relaxed vibe of Woodstone. Everyone we have recommended this tavern to has loved it! read more

Super cool energy in here. Stopped in for lunch with my mother after a grueling and expensive trip to the Apple Store in Springfield. This place is special. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food was quite good. We had dip and flatbread and the beet salad (which did not skimp on the goat cheese!). I'm never in this area so I'm not sure I'll ever pop in again, but, it's worth a stop if you're in town and if you're local and you're not already a regular, you should question your decision making skills. read more

We went for lunch and they were out of several items on the lunch menu. They had a busy weekend per our waiter. No fish, no turkey, no pickled onions for the 2nd choice sandwich I had to make. The French fries did not seem freshly made. The beer list was not updated. The one I ordered from the tap list they did not have. On a previous visit the Cesar salad was all white or yellow lettuce. The owner is less than friendly. She walks around the restaurant and seems to speak to only people she knows. Not a thank you for coming in as she walked right past us as we were leaving. Stopped for lunch while visiting a nearby college and this place is worth a visit in itself. Great food and really attentive service. Foie gras appetizer special was exceptional. Fried chicken sandwich was great, as was the burger. Love the rosemary fries, and everything came out fresh and hot. Also had the black manhattan cocktail and it was well balanced drink. Nice whisky selection as well, had the Blanton's for "dessert." Didn't learn anything about the history but I love the idea that this place has been around since 1898, must have reinvented itself many times over the years. read more

Found this great spot for a meet between Boston and Pittsfield. Four miles off the Mass Pike. Started with the carmelized onion dip and house made potato chips. So good. Trying to figure out how I can do it at home. Two of us had the Wood Stone burger with bacon and cheese. I opted for mine with garlic aioli. Love it when they toast the bun. Hubby opted for the vegan burger. He was very pleased it wasn't mushy black beans. Fries had a sprinkling of rosemary and came hot. Not soggy. We are SO incredibly lucky to have this gem open in Holyoke!! Lisa and her team have turned this former not-so-great spot into, what I think, has become what should be the new standard here! Beautifully redone and updated interior, a hard to find outdoor seating spot, a well appointed staff and FABULOUS kitchen team have really set this restaurant up to succeed in ways we just haven't seen in this city before. We have loved everything so far. From burgers to flatbreads (get the Italian!) to the rigatoni, all have met or exceeded our expectations. The drinks have been spot on and I love the seasonal specials! They do have a kids menu also just ask your server. So while it may not appear kid friendly, our 3 year old has always been welcomed! Parking can get tough and you may face a bit of a wait to be seated but that's just because everyone is trying to get in here! Well worth the wait.
