Came here for my son's very first haircut recently. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, we had a good experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My son is only 18 months old and was not very cooperative. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not everyone there accepts younger kids according to their website, so we scheduled with one who did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I explained over the phone about a week in advance that he had never had his hair cut before so I wasn't sure how he would act.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband ended up having to sit in the chair with him because he was scared. This was absolutely NOT the barber's fault, however, I did wish he could've talked to my son to try to gain some trust since he agreed to take on an 18 month old beforehand. Instead, he seemed a little uncomfortable/nervous about cutting his hair. We are visiting from Arizona and were walking the square when we walked by at 12:50pm. The window was open and the barbers were having lunch together(fyi noon-1pm closed for lunch). I decided to wait the 10 minutes and get a haircut. I love the atmosphere of this place! Tanner fit me in between appointments and gave me a great haircut and shaved the back of my neck with a straight razor and finished with a hot towel. The barbershop itself is an upscale modern men's place but the barbers all seem to know what they are doing. I am extremely disappointed with my visit this week. I have been here two times, once as a walk in and once making an appointment. First time as a walk in was great. They were super busy, but someone managed to get me within 45 minutes. I told the barber I wanted to grow my hair out and just needed it touched up by my ears and neckline. He did an awesome job and really set my hair up to grow well without taking off much length. He told me I should come back every couple months to get it touched up a bit. Well, it's been a bit over 3 months since then, and I figured I needed to get it cleaned up in a couple areas around my ears and neck and fix a couple other spots where it was uneven. I made an appointment with Daryl because I saw online it said he was good with cutting longer hair. I explained to him that I just wanted a very light cut around the ears and neckline and pointed out a couple other areas I wanted it trimmed very slightly to even it up. He told me he completely understood what I was wanting and that he used to have his hair down to his shoulders, so it seemed like he knew what he was doing and would just give me a very minimal cut. Absolutely not. By the time he was done, he had taken off over 2 inches of hair in some areas and did some pretty rough blending where he had cut it much shorter. My hair is now even shorter than it was when I got my trim 3 months ago, and I don't think it's going to grow out very well the way it's cut right now. I'm so upset with the haircut because I thought I clearly explained what I wanted, but he took off months of growth, and it looks sloppy in a lot of areas. If someone says they want to grow their hair, I would think you would cut conservatively and only where they asked if you're not going to check if the length you're cutting off is too much. I can't recommend this place if the quality of the haircuts is going to be this inconsistent for the price they charge. One of the worst haircuts I've gotten in Murfreesboro to date. read more

Hear Ye manly men! This is the place to get a cut or shave, they have it all! Bearded barbers with amazing attention to detail, historical viking magazines, axes on the walls, even logs inside. Definitely a trendy decor they are championing. The people walking out of there looked their absolute best. What got me was the rate; for the quality and experience the cost was a spanking good deal!! Men, even if you aren't into nice things, at least treat yourself to a good professional haircut or shave. Best barbershop experience I have had since I've lived in Middle TN. Growing up in East TN you had the traditional neighborhood barbershop everyone went to, and your Dad also grew up going to. The trend now has gone to these sterile, franchised, volume based haircut retail stores. This joint is a step back to the days of the neighborhood shop while also putting a focus on customer experience at the core. I was looking for a new barber shop after moving to Murfreesboro. I asked around and Woodsviking was the place that kept coming up over and over again. I was told to book David and did so. Best decision ever. The place is busy, but still allows walk-ins in between their appointments. The atmosphere is manly barbershop, but without being crude. The other barbers try to keep it light, but professional. David was awesome. He was running late for my appointment, but mostly due to his attention to detail as I saw with the young man he was working on before me. David listened to what I wanted and made a couple of suggestions that I liked. He then went to work. The haircut was great. The shave was relaxing. David has made me a client for life. I have found a new barbershop in my new town. I would highly recommend this establishment. read more

Its masculine thru and thru and so well laid out I cannot even count the number of chairs or stylists at this badassed man spa! The fellas greeted me when i came in in tow and Hubs' stylist listened to both of us and answered questions we've both had since we began his beard-venture 15 months ago:) They do take walk-ins, but i HIGHLY recommend making an appointment, as these guys are IN DEMAND. I am very dissatisfied. My husband has had his beard for 5+ years. His normal barber was not available so he went to Matthew Brown on Monday. The staff was rude upon entry and Matthew messed up my husband's beard to the point that it needed to be shaved down considerably. It is unfortunate that a barber shop called woodsviking with a bearded man as the mascot can not accomplish a beard trim. We won't be back and I will tell everyone I know not to go there. read more

My husband has a big beard and long hair and rarely gets it cut or takes time for himself. For his birthday this year I wanted to treat him to an experience and man pampering. After asking friends who I should book him with and looking at their available times it would be a couple of weeks past his birthday but I heard it was worth the wait. Booked my husbands appointment with Shawn and was looking forward to my husband getting a trim and not looking scraggly. Then my husband told me that his appointment was cancelled by shawn by automatic text response. No out reach to reschedule or contact of any kind. Was looking for some good quality beard products for a friend's birthday. Called the shop first to see how to locate the products on their website and was told I could come in and pick them up there. They welcomed me the moment I stepped in, showed me where the products were and after I paid greeted me on the way out and even gave me a Woodsviking decal! This Barbershop has everything you need besides a fresh cut. It has the hair products the good talks; the environment is great too, but for me the quality of the haircuts I've had here were very poor. I'm sure you've left a barbershop and further inspected your hair at home before. One side of my hair is less tapered than the other and it looks like after two days that I didn't even have a haircut. The two guys that cut my hair seemed like they was rushed to get the next customer. $18 dollars isn't bad for a haircut unless your haircut is bad. I doubt I'm coming back especially when the price is going raise up to $20. I shouldn't have to pay extra for my haircut to be an Instagram worthy haircut everything you do you be Instagram worthy.
