Little did I know that what looks like a basic chemist from the outside is actually so much more. The space is far bigger than it appears on the outside and it is stocked full of pleasant surprises including a small range of pet goods and a decent stock of health foods. Plus bonus points to the staff who spent at least 15 minutes searching out the back for a particular product I wanted but couldn't see on shelf. Discount Drug Store, you've just earned yourself a spot in my regular chemist rotation!

The small entrance is deceptive and the blocked out windows do not let on how big this pharmacy actually is. The prices really are good and the guy serving was extremely helpful at pointing out where on the shelves the certain item I was looking for lived. The good thing about this pharmacy is not only the prices but the fact that it is always fairly quiet, meaning you get the utmost attention from the staff and are served very quickly. Definitely worth a visit, whether you need to fill a script or just pick up some tissues.

They have a much smaller range of make up available which if you want to get in and out in a hurry is perfect. There are also hair products, travel items and the staff are always helpful and friendly. However the layout of the store while simple and straightforward (big ticks for simple) the interior feels a little dated and dark. I'd love of they had a bigger range of products or even focused on one particular area making them a specialist store however they are consistent with products and service. For instance, just the other day I ran out of my prescription medication and couldn't get into the medical centre. My regular pharmacy was able to contact my doctor, organise all the paperwork and provide an emergency supply over the weekend. Healthy World Pharmacy in Mount Gravatt is my pharmacy of choice for its friendly staff, convenience AND huge range of cosmetics. I'm not kidding. They have a huge range of cheap cosmetics. I remember their original pharmacy in Stones Corner use to be known as make-up and perfume specialists. Well, they've brought the same range to their Mt Gravatt shop. It's great browsing through their discounted Loreal, Maybelline and Elizabeht Arden lines while waiting for my prescription. For those more into their health than make-up, Healthyworld also offer a full time naturopath and specialise in sports/ body building and nutritional supplements. Their downstairs location is directly next to a bulk billing medical centre with both male and female doctors. So for those people living in the Mt Gravatt area, taking care of your health is now quick, affordable and convenient.

The shop itself is quite large, so you should be able to find what you're looking for. The staff were generally friendly, one lady over the top so. Almost patronising. I really didn't like it. But we got what we needed and as far as what chemists do, they did it well. I'd suggest if you need a few things so want to go to a shopping centre then this is a good choice to make. Generally quite quiet, can get a park up this end of the shops without too much trouble and they have a good range.

I noticed this when buying medication and paying nearly twice as much for the same thing, same size and brand. When it's busy you can wait a good while to pay, usually only one counter open, but generally not too long a wait to get seen down at the business end. There's another chemist down the other end of the centre, so you can always try your luck there for prices.

It really does feel like a bargain shop more than the clean, sparse chemist shops you find these days. But you know what?
