The animals have appropriate accommodations and I recently was interested in adopting a cat or two and was able to meet several. Wish I could take them all. They also work with the Lawrence Humane Society which is another great place. I encourage the public to consider making online donations to help this place as they run on public funding. As a former volunteer and having worked in the animal care field for over 17 years, these jobs are hard work. Being able to provide vet care, food, bedding, etc for many animals in need isn't easy. Mose has called me on several occasions outside of class to see how things are going and reassess our plan to limit/end these behaviors. I paid $900+ for a month of training for my German Shepherd and the funny thing is I got an invoice for $160+ I have to pay back for days I didn't use when I was currently not having my pup taken to school. They couldn't even teach my dog to sit and on top of that, I had someone pick her up for me and she had smelled like urine and feces due to them not taking her out and there's no way she was doing that at home because the other person I had dropping her off and picking her up was actively teaching her the basic things while I was away for training. So it being a daycare I wouldn't even give them that credit of saying that. I'm not paying that fee cause that's bullshit honestly for the days I didn't use I'm getting charged? I placed her in there in March this year on the 14th and pulled her out around the beginning of April due to the mishaps of her not being let out and attended to. If i wanted her to not have no out time, I would've just left her at home with no one to take care of her and have her be neglected etc. If anyone wants a good or decent dog daycare don't give them a chance. it's a bunch of unqualified people there making an earning they did not earn. As patient as I am and was during them showing me what was going on, I was not impressed and didn't say anything at all after having her back home seeing how much she was hungry and thirsty. Keep giving those a benefit of the doubt and they'll take your kindness as weakness. She gets nervous when people come into the home and I'm not there which makes pet sitting a challenge - so much so that she was fired as a client by the service I used in Chicago. Enter Newman's. Not only are both sitters, Emma and Christine, lovely people, they handled Edna in stride. They are awesome about sending texts after every visit and give me updates and details so it never feels like they're just checking a box. Christine has been our go-to and she's just awesome...noticing things like new food bowls and finding nice things to say about my salty Edna. I always look forward to her texts when I'm away. The owner, Jena responds to requests immediately (even when she's on vacation) and never has a problem with last-minute schedule changes. Overall, the level of service is truly exceptional - I highly recommend Newman's if you're looking for someone to take amazing care of your pets while you're away.

Yikes. I'm a…read morenonprofit animal rescue curator and veterinary professional. I decided to take two of our adoptables in for a bath after they swam at Shawnee Lake. I asked up front if there was a rescue discount and was informed that there isn't. Of course, just after paying for the baths, the prompt on Petco's credit card machine read: would you like to help us save animals? Well, Petco. Would YOU like to help ME save animals? Come on now. The bath station was atrocious. Hair all over the floor, hair all in the tubs and drains. Hair covered the walls and steps, as well. Suffice it to say, no one had bothered cleaning and it looked like at least 3 customers had come through with dense and longer coated dogs, like Labs. The tubs hadn't even been rinsed. There were muddy paw prints leading up the steps ‍ The shampoo dispenser is laughable. There is a note on the wall stating that the machine is "trying her best". Look, y'all have shampoo bottles for sale on the floor if you can't afford to get a machine fixed. I let the machine run for 10 mins while I deshed my largest dog. Still no soap, I tasted the water. As such, my dogs left there smelling like pond water instead of shampoo. And, yes, I tried both the shampoo and puppy shampoo options. At best, this is a place to RINSE your dogs, not bathe them. I also found that there were no nail trimmers. I asked the help desk and was told they don't stock them for use. So, if you're looking to rinse your dog indoors instead of just hosing them off outdoors, this is the place for you. If you're looking to actually be supplied with soap, conditioner, nail trimmers, sizeable towels and a clean station, try any place but this one.
