From functions such as private events, award nights, christmas parties, dinner, lunch and just for a wine or two, I have had the pleasure of experiencing the Woolshed on many different occasions They have a great atmosphere when they are full and buzzing aside from that it can seem quite lonely on an off day, due its warehouse style interior. The outdoor terrace and patio on both levels are a great entertaining space and can really lift the vibe when full. Although its doesn't do the windy docklands many favours aesthetically it really is a versatile space that caters for a variety of events.

The Woolshed Pub is a gorgeous redevelopment of an old wool storage facility. Choosing to maintain some of the building's original features, carefully restored beams and fixtures support the expansive, lofty ceiling covering the shed. The whole building has a really relaxing and earthy feel, although I have never seen it overly busy this space defiantly has potential. The menu is simple and contemporary with a selection of platters also available. I opted for the seafood tasting plate which included calamari, Moreton bay bugs, mussels, king prawns and fish fillets. Although very fresh and well presented most of the platter was deep-fried, which perhaps destroyed some of the natural flavours of the seafood. The waitress recommended a bottle of the 2009 Carolina Unwooded Chardonnay and it was heaven! Perfect accompaniment to the seafood the buttery flavours of the chardonnay complimented the natural oils in the fish. The pub has lots of little areas to explore and a plenty of outdoor patio areas great for a glass of vino on a summer afternoon.

Ok, it doesn't sound like the most glamorous joint in town and the idea of drinking in a pub affiliated in any way, shape or form with wool kind of makes me think of bad wool odors, but Woolshed Pub - an erstwhile wool warehouse in Docklands - is a pretty spiffy bar. An expansive bar in close proximity to Eithad Stadium, Woolshed may charge twelve bucks for a portion of fries and $40 for the cheapest bottle of wine but if you're looking for a classy sports bar with a New Zealand bent you can't go far wrong with woodshed. Think high ceilings, think wood veneer walls, think giant plasma screens above the bar and some very professional service. The atmosphere here is more artfully-rustic-high-end-city bar than pub per se but Woolshed's relaxed vibe and casual set-up has all of the hallmarks of a good Aussie pub. A friend visiting from New Zealand may have quipped that if he was going to stay at Woolshed another moment he would have to remortgage his house but in a way, it's worth it. For sports bar phobes and fans of relaxed Melbourne bars, the Woolshed is a safe bet.

You could say that the Woolshed perfectly describes of the whole of the Docklands area in general. This old converted dock building from the late 1800's certainly looks flash, with its glass walls and polished high beams. It even has a flash bistro menu with oysters, terrine, home made chips and steaks that will set you back $39. This place actually has it all at first glance. Outdoor seating, a roomy bar with plenty of tables and a spacious and light dining area. But like Docklands itself it just doesn't quite deliver in either atmosphere or quality. The food is good, but can be definitely described as one of those menus that reads far far better than it tastes. It is also therefore expensive for the quality you are actually getting. The drinks are also not cheap. With a list of over 100 wines and almost as many beers you certainly won't be wanting for anything off either the drinks or food menu. But then again sometimes you just wish a pub could like this could stick to the simple things and do them far better than they are, rather than getting carried away with their beautifully designed interior and thinking they have to try and fancy up the food and drink to a level they just cannot achieve. Take the home made chips, for example. The cost is $10 (rather expensive), they look amazing, and taste...well they taste like nothing. And the home made tomato sauce - give me Heinz any day. Anyway to summarize. The Woolshed Pub is certainly a decent pub to go to and maybe even dine at - just don't get carried away with their fancy sounding menu and designed interior. It is a good solid pub. But has a long way to go before it can call itself a gastro-pub.

I agree with the others. Three stars at best. Food was OK (actually decent quantity) but not for those prices. Very slow service.

With a casual bar in the front, a lively open kitchen in the middle, and a fine dining atmosphere…read morein the back, Cutler & Co has it all! This is a place for a nice date or evening out with friendly service and requisite menu prices. At each table is a fresh taper candle that's lit as soon as you sit down, and soon after ordering, we received an amuse bouche of a parmesan crisp with fromage blanc and mustard, as well as bread service--sourdough with two kinds of seasoned butter! To start, we shared the assorted greens (lettuce, radicchio) in buttermilk dressing, which was fresh but nothing too spectacular. We continued with our mains: the snapper with pureed eggplant, oyster sauce, watermelon radish, and purplette onion was creative and tasty. But my favorite was definitely the mushroom pithivier, a lovely mushroom "pie" made of layers of duxelles, kohlrabi, and Comte cheese in a flaky, crispy pie crust! Absolutely divine--the filling was rich with umami, but light at the same time with the kohlrabi. The dish came with a light frisee salad on the side and a mushroom ketchup, which added a hit of acidity to every bite of the savory pie. We were told that the pie would take 30-40 minutes to prepare after ordering, but it was totally worth it! We decided to skip dessert, but to finish off, we were given small complementary bites of a jelly and a salted chocolate truffle, which simply melted in your mouth! Overall, this is a lovely place to come for fine dining, though it does get expensive quickly.

"I just rescued some wine. It was trapped in a bottle."…read more Why try just one wine bar when you can do two from the same group? Another stunner with its solid energy, jovial conversations and relaxed feel in a contemporary setting. Wine is king here. New and dynamic wines from up and coming producers to DRC's and Australia's very own Henschke Hill of Grace. 30 wines by the glass, 600+ by the bottle. All at very reasonable prices. Food is a big part of the wine loving experience and Cutler and Co delivers. Ingredients are fresh and seasonal. The menu changes regularly to reflect this. Standouts included: Donuts with sour cream, salmon roe and chives - Not a donut in the American sense, this one, more like a pate a choux puff. Mix up the accompanying sour cream, salmon eggs and chives then spread it on, the slightest hint of yolky brininess in the otherwise mostly sour cream spread and a sip of a racy red; ahhhh. Taco of suckling pig, salsa verde, anchovy and rocket - A simple white corn tortilla with chunk of crispy skin, juicy and tender suckling pig, a smear of a creamy salsa verde backed by anchovy and a peppery, bitter rocket leaf. Add a squeeze of lemon and the flavors come together while begging for a sip of wine. Zucchini flowers, fresh cheese, pickled radicchio and pistachio - A true celebration of summer. Vibrant, fresh, colorful. A kiss of citrus sweetness from the zucchini flowers, texture from the young zucchini themselves. A zesty vinaigrette brings it all together. You guessed it, more wine please! Service is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Prices are good with many selections 60AUD - 80AUD. Markup for top wines 1.5x - 2x auction prices. A worthy visit. Just remember, be a good visitor to Australia, "save water, drink wine".

That being said, the 5-course lunch was executed well: it had some unique elements and the service throughout the experience was excellent. The stand-out dish of the day was for sure the Meat Fruit, I was kinda hoping for the mandarin but that day they served the plum. The pate was super delicious, one of the best I ever had! The first dish of the day, Hay Smoked Kingfish was also flawless, it showed restraint and was perfectly balanced. The entree, Chicken with Lettuces was very tasty but I found that the garnishes were better than the protein itself. That being said, I found the Meat & Flesh on the salty side and for a 38$ appetizer I find the amount of meat, two tiny pieces about the size of my pinky nail, unacceptable. In addition, I asked the sommelier for a cocktail suggestions and specifically stated that I did not want a sweet cocktail. He suggested the Mint Rickey which was way too sweet for my taste. Overall a good experience, would go back for the Meat fruit and the atmosphere was excellent but I wouldn't call it a flawless experience and isn't that what you expect for this type of restaurant?
