I go in for their supply of 'Lentilicious,' one of the many locally produced products for healthy living they have in store and their organic fair trade coffee. Even if you aren't sold on organic foods, its a great place to find healthy, nutritious food stuff.

Surprisingly, 'Mrs Flannery's' is the size of a small IGA or your local food store. It has a few aisles like the ones you find at the Supermarket! Here you will find, organic cereal, wide range of nuts and whole grains as well as natural household and beauty products. I am fond of their peanut butter which is literally grounded peanuts with no additives, preservatives and flavourings. Of course shopping here is not as cheap as the local supermarket but you feel so good about yourself for being so healthy after shopping here. I obviously would not do my entire groceries here as that would burn a hole in my pocket though. 'Mrs Flannery's' is a must for anyone into natural health and organic foods who lives around the 'Taringa' area. You will not be disappointed by the range this place has to offer.

IGA Milton has an especially good range and boasts impressive opening hours: 6am - midnight 365 days a year (foreign readers from countries where 24-hour supermarkets are easy to find will have to excuse my excitement)! The deli here is quite gourmet, with a good selection of salamis and prosciutto as well as an array of olives. There are also some wholesome ready to eat salads and other heat-and-eat options like tortilla stacks. The nearby cheese selection showcases a well sourced selection of brie, camembert, blue and many others. I've even bought a very tasty pre-made sand crab lasagne from the refrigerated section. I suppose we have the area's high socio-economic status to thank for these epicurean touches.

My roommate laughs at me every time I say I'm popping down there for groceries and sarcastically wishes me luck getting a park, and he's not wrong. It's every man for himself when it comes to parking at this place. Horrible parking experiences aside though, this IGA is a godsend. The amount of times I've panicked when I've had nothing to take to work for lunch the next day or I've run out of milk and this place has saved me, I simply cannot count. One particular occasion I forgot it was a coworker's birthday the next day so I frantically rushed into Milton IGA at around 11pm and quickly swiped up a chocolate mud cake. It's a constant topic of conversation in my house how amazing the Baroona Road IGA's opening hours are. 6am to 12am every night; how does it get any better than that? Plus it's a TINY place, and yet I always seem to be able to find everything my heart desires. How do they manage to pack all that stuff into this tiny little space? Beats me, but they do. I prefer it to even larger supermarkets where they'd have about five hundred different brands of washing powder or mango juice because Baroona Road IGA always has what I need. For a small place, it has a ridiculously amazing selection of gourmet cheeses and healthy cooking options, plus a better range of caesar salads than I see in larger IGAs or Woolworths stores. Rather than go to Toowong's large and probably cheaper Coles, I prefer to go here. It's more convenient, and the selection is excellent. It's far better than any other chain grocery store I've experienced thus far. Everything is super easy to find whether you're in a rush or planning a larger shop. Because of Baroona Road IGA, I never go hungry. But it is a tiny supermarket so I don't think they can be criticised for their choice to stock long-life products. Of course they still have the same stuff every other convenience store does; cold drinks, snacks, basic ingredients and toiletries and pre-paid phone credit. My favourite aspect of this store is the large range of asian groceries on display, from hello pandas, pockys and chocolate to shampoos, noodles and dried ginger there is something to satisfy everyones wants. Be sure to also check out their fridge full of delectable asian ice creams (Green Tea or blue lemonade = my life guys) Right on Melbourne St, This little store is well worth a peep in when cruising through Westend.

So for me personally, it's not where I do my grocery shopping. Plenty do though. But when I pop in here, it's usually for a snack or lunch, or dinner while on campus late. The chocolate aisle. There's always something on special. I loooove me some chocolate! Frozen microwave meals! Again, always on special, which is great for the starving uni student. I also noticed Woolies appear to have a range of packaged meals which look pretty darn good. While I haven't tried, and they are a little more expensive than the typical meals, they're still cheaper than most meals available on campus. The deli not only sells hot chicken, but they also sell hot chips, and you can get a hot chicken and chips meal for next to nothing. I think Woolies is my new favourite food spot on campus.

They probably have such a consistent Mi-Goreng racquet going on with the uni students that they don't really need to pay attention to much else. The other really annoying thing about it, apart from the droves of students loitering around the front and yelling at each other, is that it's impossible to get phone reception while you're in there, which makes it really tricky to google a recipe or check your internet banking without having to go outside and head back in. I'd always thought supermarkets were pretty uniform but this one was a let down. I really tried to work 'gross-ery' into this review but sometimes you can't have everything.

This is probably one of the larger Coles I've been into. They generally have a good selection of…read morefruit and veg, and it's usually kept well stocked. Occasionally, their prices don't make sense when compared to other grocery stores / supermarkets, which can get very frustrating. Because the store is large, the Asian section is kept reasonably well stocked, but there are some glaring omissions (shelf-stable silken tofu, for example). Generally, it is well organised, but there are times when it gets a bit confusing (sugar and flour aren't next to each other; some soy sauce is in the Asian section, but others are in the Health Food section, etc). They have a good range of tofu and, unlike Woolworths, haven't tried to make their own brand, though the range does appear to be getting a little smaller. In terms of customer service, the few times I've been unable to find a product, staff have been extremely helpful, and searched both the computer and the physical shelves. They also have self-service checkout here, which is both annoying when it's available, and frustrating when it's not. Overall, a reliable shopping experience that serves well for big shops, though it does not necessarily deliver on specialty items.
