Wooster Community Hospital was choosen because the price of the procedure was considerably less then what other providers closer to Cleveland had been asking. Why pay more for the same or less quality? Headed in for a Echo-cardiogram. Days prior to the procedure the staff contacted me about pre-authorization from the insurance company. Given my deep distrust for today medical industry (having worked for hospitals and insurance firms across the US) i had already called the insurance company to try and prevent any surprise bills. But i was genuinely impressed by this effort on the part of the facility. Upon arriving we made our way through the main doors. Looking confused upon entering as we gained our bearing. One of the staff who happened to be nearby asked how she could help us and sent us on our way. Another great move on the part of the facility. Wow. I figured for sure some crabby old hen or rooster would be waiting for me at the check-in desk. But... no. Another friendly face came swooping in to help us get setup. She took us into a quiet area and reviewed the paperwork, signed a few releases and made our way up to the appropriate department. She sent us off with directions and everything we needed. Wow. Was this really happening? There has to be an old grump someplace... I was determined to find that person. I can spot them from a mile away. Once in the general area we hovered around the next staffed desk. Once she had a moment she acknowledged us and provided us with next set of directions for the last few steps of our journey. Ok... this really cant be happening. Not to me. So nice! In we go. The tech gives me the rundown and her general expectations of me during the procedure. I tell a few bad jokes, we laugh, and i get undressed and hop on the table... what fun. Within moments of hitting the table out come the probes, gadgets, gels, and the room goes silent. The only thing to be heard are the dials and nobs being adjusted with the occasional sound of my heart beat coming through a really nice sound system. Very cool. The screen had my ticker working real-time. Flaps flapping, blood flowing, chambers contracting and expanding all while colors flashed like some old B movie. The movie of ME! I'm a little biased of course but i thought it was a great show. Four stars! Headed down to medial records to get the first copy. The technician was really great through the procedure. She responded to questions and checked in on me best she could while deep in her work. She escorted us out, since no other patients had been waiting she walked us down to the records department. By now i was a just a kid in a candy store. Full of glee on my way to the movies. The old gal in Medical Records took her job seriously. I loved it. She pulled the information she needed, slapped two forms in front of us that we filled out to release my movie. One for me and and the second copy for my offsite doctor. We squawked and bantered at one another in all the right ways. I found her attention to detail, dedication, and dark humor delightfully refreshing and entertaining. We headed home with a smile. Would i go back to Wooster? Are you kidding? That's where I'm going to kick it! But i don't plan on booking that room anytime soon. Tell'em Easy C sent ya. read more

My daughter is a student at The College of Wooster, Friday 4/3/26, she was transported there via ambulance for a head lack. Upon arrival at the hospital even though she was taken by ambulance, she was asked to wait in the waiting room, bleeding. Finally, being assessed at intake her temperature was 105 ( i confirmed when i got to the hospital) they asked her if she was sick and she explained she has been in antibiotics since 4/1. No additional care was given to her regarding her apparent symptoms. After several of her requests for fluids or pain medication she was disregarded! When i got there i also asked for fluids and pain meds. She was given a cup of apple juice! No meds, no examination of her head no regard for her temperature, I asked them to do additional tests because it was apparent something else was going on. I was also disregarded. I spoke with nurses & the doctors about my concerns and they did nothing. After hours of waiting the dr came to do her sutures. He sprayed a saline on her wound; betadine was NEVER used. He began stitching, after 2 sutures he walked out the room "he had to take a call" never in my life have i experienced such negligence in an ER. After about 10-15 min he came back to finish, the wound was not dressed, and we rushed out the room because they needed the bed. Wooster Community Hospital ER failed my child by not providing her with basic care. She should have been given a CT for her head injury as well as fluids and additional tests for her symptoms. I'm beside myself on the series of events that took place! I insisted she come home so i could monitor her symptoms. I'm so glad i did! She woke up 4/2/26 YELLOW! Her skin her eyes very weak obviously dehydrated & fevering. I consulted UH ER in Elyria, OH they insisted we bring her in. She went unconscious in the ER! They started her on IV and antibiotics immediately. They ran all the tests labs CT. X-rays urinalysis, etc. All the things Wooster Community Hospital should have did when we expressed our concerns but did not. Her Bilirubin was completed elevated this could have been caught and treated By Wooster Community Hospital had they just listened and provided her with the care she needed. The staff was rude and dismissive of everything needed. Do not go to this facility if you need true medical attention. They DO NOT CARE! read more

I will never say anything badd about WCH. They saved my life over 50 years ago. for a 23 year old it made an impression. I had a kidney problem last Just and spent 2 days getting rehydrated. I was treated wonderfully and even though it was hospital food it was fairly good and my husband could come and eat with me. I have been in many hospitals over the years. Wooster has the best nurses and doctors. read more

Care Quality was horrifying, more like lack of. My boyfriend and I were taken in by EMT for a head on collision with a semi. My 5-year-old grandson was transported by his mother, who followed the squads to the same ER. Immediately, 4 nurses start grabbing at me and ordering me to the bed from the gurney. I asked them to stop, being a survivor of Domestic Violence and being in so much pain, I can't have folks grabbing me. One nurse snapped at me, telling me again to get in the bed. I did tell her to shut up, I've gotta do this, as she rolled her eyes and snapped back at me again. The female EMT told her that I have PTSD from previous abuse and I needed to move myself. At one point, I told a nurse that I needed to use the bathroom and she said she needed to see if the doctor wanted a urinalysis, but never returned for 20 minutes. I used to nurse call button, telling that responding nurse that 20 minutes prior, another nurse was supposed to help me to the restroom. Kimberly B (or "D"), RN came in, lowered my rail, flipped my sheet off my legs and told me, "Well, get up and go!" I said, "Excuse me?" Kimberly repeated, "Well, get up and go!" (My daughter, whose son was in the vehicle during the accident, was on the phone in the waiting room listening.) I told her that I was told by the previous nurse that I wasn't supposed to walk on my own due to my knee injury and possible head injury. Kimberly's response, "Well, I don't know your situation!" I asked her why she would have me up and walking without assistance if she didn't know my situation, which she never offered UNTIL she found out there was someone in the bathroom across the hall from my room. She never even offered me a 2nd gown to cover my backside. At this point, I told her to get outta my face, do not step back in my room, and please get me your supervisor. I hobbled across the hall to use the restroom just to watch the blood in my knee pool and swell. By this time, my oldest daughter was walking into my room and asking why I was up and walking on my own. She stepped out in the hall and stopped the doctor and asked for a supervisor, he sent in the Patient Advocate. He supposedly talked to Kimberly B (D?), RN, yet I never received an apology from that rude woman and I doubt she was told to go home or fired. The doctor came in as the advocate was leaving and proceeded to tell me to lay back on the bed so he could examine a muscle in my diaphragm that was spasming. I couldn't lay flat because the muscle kept pulling me back into a tight sitting position. The doctor then decides to tell me, with my oldest daughter present, "I need you lie back, it's not like I'm going to torture you!" My daughter snapped back and asked, "Why would you say that to a survivor of Domestic Violence? My sperm donor tortured my mom too often for 16+ years." His response, "Maybe that was a poor choice of words." No apology, no sincerity in his response, just sarcasm. They never looked at the spasming muscle, which could be seen through the skin, the female EMT saw it and could feel it jumping. They never took an urinalysis (no urine collected), yet my chart says completed, which means the account will be charged for it. It took 3 hours for my 5-year-old grandson to be seen after receiving a blow to the head by a 10# piece of frozen meat during the head on collision. All 3 of us, my boyfriend, my grandson and I, were released at the same time...5 hours after we arrived! They didn't even do a head CT on my grandson, and he was struck in the temporal lobe. His exam included jumping up and down and a, "He'll be fine." from the same doctor that saw me. These folks need to be fired, or special training needs to be applied because Kimberly B (D), RN and the doctor were mentally, emotionally and physically abusive! read more

The absolute worst hospital you can go to. My wife has been in pain for 3 months, went in for a procedure and sent home in pain. I told them if they didn't do something about it right away I would leave her there. I became the bad guy. They could care less. Their response was to take her the emergency room, hmmmm, more money for them, and just as in past experience you will leave there with the wrong diagnoses, it nothing done. read more

The staff in general are super!! The doctor, however, was just a very non-informative, crabby woman. The BILLING is my big issue. No where does it say that they expect you to pay your bill in full within 10 months. My insurance deductible is $5000. Divided by 10, well I surely cannot pay $500 a month! Who can?? So I did my best and paid (a decent amount) what I could, they still turned me into collections. Scott Boyes, the CFO, was not cooperative or understanding in anyway. I got stitches for the first time last night, and the emergency room staff here were all super friendly and reassuring, making the experience less stressful. Denise was especially kind, and made me feel like there was nothing to worry about. Shoutout to the doctor who gave me stitches; thank you for letting me play One Direction while you stitched me, I really appreciate it. Overall, the experience was nowhere near fun, but the staff here made me feel calm, and I really appreciate their generosity. read more

I have used WCH for years & have spoke highly about them to everyone, recommending it over all hospitals. That has changed today due to having to pay twice for the same service with no help from them. Dec 2018 1 visit, Jan 2019 2 visits & August 2019 1 stay. When I received the bill after August I paid everything in full w/my credit card, I was told I was in the clear. 2.5 years later I get a bill from a bill collector for the Dec 2018 & Jan 2019. In 2.5 years never heard anything from WCH after being told I was in the clear, no bills, no phone calls. I called WCH & they are no help. I paid off my credit cards since & don't have them. I didn't keep the paid bill because it was 2.5 years ago. But WCH shows I paid the August bill. I will no longer use them, I will no longer recommend them to people as a medical professional. The care is great but it's all ruined by having to pay twice for the same service & they can't explain why I never received another bill or a call after being told I was in the clear. read more

The billing. This place is hands down insane with the billing. I pay what I can pay. No, I cannot afford to pay 100+ a month. They expect it paid in full within 10 months. I simply cant afford their "ten month payment plan". I was told that because I was behind, even if I kept making what payments I could make, I would still be turned into collections. I worked very hard for my credit score I have, and these guys simply don't care enough to work with patients. read more

Great Hospital. The staff, for the most part, genuinly care for the patients, regardless of their positions.

Wait times can be horrific. Two of the three times I've stayed the bedding wasn't clean or had something on it. I mean you go when it's a medical necessity however they could do better on cleanliness. read more
