Only word to explain my experience today at Melrose was HORRIBLE! Let me give some background on…read morethe reason why I feel this way. I want to start by saying that in this time of pandemic, as a construction worker I am quite up to speed with how our suppliers are dealing with getting materials to their customers in the safest manner. Numerous suppliers of mine have certain protocols in place in regards to handling materials and the safest practice to transfer them to their customers. Today, around 1:00pm I placed a call to Melrose because I needed a new sprinkler controller as mine died yesterday. The phone was answered by a man that could best be described as "not happy to speak with customers", his tone on the phone was rude and condescending. I made him aware of what I was looking for and he responded by saying, "Right now we are only selling to contractors." I made him aware that I was a licensed electrical contractor and asked if that was suitable to make a purchase. His response, "Well if your a contractor then I guess you can purchase now can't you?" - I kindly explained that I was not an "irrigation contractor" and wanted to make sure if I cane in to make a purchase that I wouldn't be turned away. You see, there are certain suppliers that I deal with that will only sell supplies to contractors that are licensed to install the type of materials they sell. I am not an irrigation contractor so I wanted to make sure as to not waste my time, or his for that matter. On the phone I asked what time they closed and he said 4pm, I told him I would come by later in the afternoon to make a purchase. He hung up the phone without asking me if I wanted to place a will call. At 3:15pm I went to Melrose and there was a sign on the front door that all orders needed to be picked up via the side door in the yard. I proceeded to that door and was met by a sign that read "CONTRACTORS ONLY - ALL ORDERS NEED TO BE CALLED IN TO (954) 563-1303" (see attached picture of sign). I stepped away and called the number, a different man picked up named Eddie. I have dealt with Eddie on the counter before and he is a nice guy. I explained to him that I was there in the parking lot and wanted to place an order for pickup. I made him aware of my prior conversation with the man I called earlier. Eddie took my order and said give me 5-10 minutes and you can pickup your order, I patiently waited in my car and at 3:40pm I walked back around the side yard. I crossed paths with a man (based on voice the same one I had spoken to earlier) and he stated "We are closed." I informed him I had placed a call and was there to pick it up. He replied, "We are closed, what part of that didn't you understand." I then replied that I placed an order and was told that I could pick it up and proceed to open the door to see if Eddie was in. The man replied, " What are you some f-c-king bonehead?", you can't go in there. I once again explained that I was told by Eddie that I could come pick my order up in 5-10 minutes and it was only 3:40pm and they closed at 4:00pm so I didn't understand the issue. The man went into the building and retrieved my order and brought it to the door then he proceeded to ask me if I could read. I kindly asked him to show me on the sign that was made where it specifically stated I couldn't enter the building. The sign essentially said CONTRACTORS ONLY and we had already established that I was a contractor and was there to pickup my order. He gave me a total and took my payment. I was pissed and if I could find another supplier at 4:00pm that I could get these parts from I would have left. He returned to give me back my credit card and receipt and once again told me I should know by reading the sign that nobody was allowed in the building. Items paid for and retrieved, I gave the man a piece of my mind. I explained to him that nowhere did it say "NO ENTRY INTO BUILDING" or "PLEASE STAY OUTSIDE AND WE WILL BRING YOUR ORDER TO YOU". I asked the man who the owner was of Melrose because I intended to give him a call and let him know what a wonderful counter salesman he was employing ::sarcasm:: - He told me the owner was Dominick Pagano and his name was Bill Olsen. He then began to make statements at me that I don't need to repeat. He was rude and obviously knows that the owner didn't care about the way that he treats their customers. He ranted at me in a profanity laced tirade from behind the locked fence. Totally unprofessional and makes me question how he is employed. This was at the Fort Lauderdale location on Oakland Park Boulevard. Never have I dealt with such a rude person that was in sales. You would think that in todays day and age that people would be helping people instead of treating them the way Bill treated me. I will not return to Melrose and I highly suggest you avoid them as well.

I was given the wrong product by the warehouse staff and when I went to return it I was told that I would not get an exchange since I lost my receipt and it was my fault for not checking the product.I spoke to the warehouse staff and he remembered me and the mistake since he remembered a discrepancy when they did warehouse audit. He informed her of his mistake and she told him off also . Needless to say no exchange. Why not exchange it? Believe your staff ? This woman should not be attending customers . Very disappointed long time customer. Stuck with 175$ bucket of silver pigment instead of clear . Thanks Stephanie . Hope your boss reads this and realizes you are crapping on his business . For weeks, we were given repeated assurances that it was shipping from Miami to LA, that it would arrive "tomorrow," or the next week... and that delivery was being arranged. Every follow-up came with a new explanation that never materialized. It ultimately became clear the table was not even available when our payment was taken. The experience was made worse by how we were treated. The salesperson(Vadim), was extremely rude and dismissive. During one of my follow-up calls, he hung up on me. On another call, when I questioned why we were told the table was available when it clearly wasn't, he told me I should be ashamed of myself for asking. That is completely unacceptable customer service. Management did not appear concerned about the delay or the way this was handled. After nearly three months of waiting, we were finally refunded because they "couldn't find a shipping company." Based on our experience, this company did not operate in a way that felt transparent or reliable. The entire situation was beyond frustrating, misleading, and highly unprofessional. I would strongly encourage others to think twice before purchasing here.

I called Deck and Dock and from the very first call, I started to place my material order with Angel. She was not only a joy to work with but since I do not do marine contracting as a daily profession, she was able to respond with any question I had. On my phase 2 finishing work part of my project Deck and Dock had run out of piling wrap. Angle and the yard staff loaded my truck with everything but the warp. Angle promised to call me as soon as the wrap cam in. About 4 yours later (right around lunch break time) she called and had it ready to be picked up. Awesome experience with this company.
