    Crocheted creatures aplenty!

Although small, the world crochet museum is surely worth a visit while you're in the area. The museum has a collection of more crochet pieces than you've probably ever seen in one spot and it's a great place for photos! If you're in the market for a crocheted blanket, you're in luck! There's a cute little trailer nearby filled with them! Be sure to check out the surrounding area with shops and other random finds. Their museum is free and there's a parking lot at the back of the museum.

Despite going to Joshua Tree countless times, I finally made an effort to stop at the World Famous Crochet Museum last weekend and wow, I still can't believe it took me so long to visit this gem! The World Famous Crochet Museum is tucked just outside Joshua Tree National Park and the tiny neon green trailer is pure joy. It's so, so cute filled to the brim with colorful, quirky, and beautifully crafted crochet creations. Every inch seems to tell a story, from the crocheted animals to the whimsical decor that definitely made me smile. It's the perfect little desert oasis. It is so creative and totally unexpected. Whether you're an art lover, fiber artist, or just someone who appreciates something delightfully unique, this spot is worth the stop!!! So, do not make the same mistake I did and wait years to visit! This place is crochet magic!

    - Not sure how it's world-famous. My cousins in Việt Nam didn't know about it. Not so famous of the worldly kind, is it? :p + Anyhoo, plethora of cute crochet dolls. No pop culture references in there though (no Pikachus or whatnot). + Free to park at and visit. - It's a crowded closet. Only 1-2 people fit in there at a time. . People typically spend about 2-5mins in there at a time.

Saw this spot on social media while looking up sights to see in JT! This "museum" is teeny tiny and essentially just a very decorated shed filled top to bottom with a ton of crochet. Its completely free to visit and its actually near a bunch of local shops that sell works by local artists, vintage goods, and JT merch that's super cute. This place is super unique and I would recommend a visit to anyone that interested in fiber arts!

This is the Famous Crochet Museum! Its super cute and small :) and FREE! There are many hand made Crochet things to look at. You walk in and will find some even in the ceiling. It is located in a little village plaza filled with tiny stores with lots of fun things to look at. You need to stop by!

It's so cute and tiny with so many crochets inside ! They have a picture setting outside and inside there's a small stool you can sit on to take a photo

The number one thing to understand about the World Famous Crochet Museum is it size. It's very small. Basically, the museum is housed in a small little shack type structure. This is not to say it's not an interesting space. But, it's not what one would consider a museum to be under normal circumstances, at least in terms of size. Once inside the museum, it is lined with tons of crochet items. There is all the things you would expect: various animals, flowers, pretty much anything you can think of, it's there, all in the form of crochet. It's very colorful inside. I guess, as expected, they ask you not to touch anything. Some of the stuff is behind a plexiglass panel, other stuff is more in the open air. But, you're not supposed to touch anything. Overall, if you love the abstractness of crocheted images, and a very cool pseudo museum, this is a fun space to visit, just keep in mind, it's only gonna take you a few minutes to check it out. :-)

Fun little quirky shop in an artistic alley. She added a blanket museum in a little RV as well. If youʻre somewhat artsy/hippy/eclectic then this spot is worth the stop.

I saw this place mentioned in Westways magazine and had to see it for myself. It's floor to ceiling full of crochet stuffed into a small trailer. There are small hand written signs everywhere stating not to touch the crochet pieces. So many handmade, one of a kind little things. So fun!

    Cute pigs!

Visited this place back in June for a friends bachelorette weekend. This is like a whimsical wonderland of all things crochet. There's a lot of creativity with each piece you come across. It really inspires you to learn all there is about crocheting. The work these crocheters do is truly amazing. The staff is very inviting , wanting to share their knowledge and answer any questions you may have. If you're in the area, I would recommend checking this place out. I'm glad I got the opportunity.

The world famous crochet musuem is the cutest thing I've seen in a long time! It's a free mini musuem and plenty of parking out front. It holds enough room for two people to be inside and when it's summer you only feel like being in there a few minutes due to the heat . Attached is a cute little store that sells some small trinkets and also some crochet items you can purchase as well. It's definitely a fast and fun thing to do while in Joshua Tree!

I visited the Crochet Museum in Joshua Tree and was pleasantly surprised by how many crochet dolls were on display. It's a cute, quirky little shop that's definitely worth a stop if you're in town!

His workshop and living trailer are still there, surrounded by his artwork. The grounds are unfenced, and there is a dedicated parking area on both side of the dirt ride, towards the West part of the exhibit (coming from the East, important to keep going until you see a small parking area on the south part of the road...otherwise, you will be parking on private property.) You can get up close and personal, and touch whatever you like (since it's part of how the exhibit's age). But it can also be dangerous, with many pokey and sharp things, so need to watch out while wandering. Art is a subjective thing, and I would not have guessed that I would have enjoyed his exhibit as much as I did (especiallyl the exhibits involving bowling balls and/or toilets as the main materials). But as I continued to look at his pieces, kept wondering 'What was he thinking?....How did he envision this would look 20 years after creation, as the desert enveloped?', both from an overall macro level, but also from a detailed, day-to-day accomplishment perspective. The setting of the desert is as integral as the recycled material itself. And I couldn't help but think...'is this what a end-of-the-world scenario would look like?'. And as certain parts of the exhibit degrades, will the foundation fix it...or is that the natural progression of his art? There is a handout near the entrance that tells the fascinating story of the artist's life. It's well worth reading.

You have to drive out a little, but it's located in a neighborhood with a couple houses so close by, there are signs telling you it's private property. There are multiple structures built that you can walk through and feel as though you are walking through a place that is forbidden, including a shack, complete with bed and clothes hanging on a line. The artwork spans decades. He's a prolific artist. The majority of the sculptures have cables holding them down, so you have to be careful not to trip on them accidentally when walking up close, I'd you're not paying attention. I highly recommend visiting this place. Admission is free! Parking: Plenty of free designated parking.

As we progressed, I gained a deeper understanding of Cabot's diverse talents as an adventurer, pioneer, and self-made artist, writer, and photographer. Cabot's decision to relocate to Desert Hot Springs was motivated by an offer of 60 acres of land for homesteading. The guided tour provided an intimate perspective, allowing us to step back in time and observe the lives of Cabot and his family.
