If you have a few quid on you and you like the earthy look, head in here for some great finds. If it's a Balinese warrior's mask or some sculptures from Irian Jaya you're looking for, be sure to make Decor your first stop. They also have a wide range of canvas paintings going for around the 300 euro mark. Interesting for a bit of a gander, and just so you know, you can go upstairs, there's more on display up there!

Walking in here, your eyes don't know where to focus. Once you get over the initial sensory shock, it's easy to find things you want. The merchandise is mainly decorative and incorporate some idea of spirituality. There are healing precious stones, chakra bracelets, Buddha figurine and incense galore. There are also plenty of exotic masks; some look African, others Native American and others Asian. The ones of "The Big Chief" are quite tacky but original. It's easy to lose yourself here and overall a fun shopping experience.

They have some nice wooden boxes with Asian details, pretty tea tins, large decorative fans and paper lanterns. But they also have some random stuff, like a wide selection of picnic baskets replete with cups and plate! I think these are actually really cool and handy. Imagine if you got invited on a date and the guy or girl busted out one of these sets, a delicious picnic dinner and a bottle of wine. All I'm saying is that if that happened to me, that guy would probably be getting some later.

Well, I mean, as far as I know, I suppose there could be a magical lamp wholesaler in the Ballymount Industrial Estate, but I doubt it. The Baazar Bargain Antiques shop places a selection of it's exotic wares onto the street outside on nice days, turning a small section of the pavement on Ranelagh Main Street into Marrakech. They also sells a decent collection of paper backs for a euro a pop, which ain't half bad. inside the tiny treasure trove the extravagent and eye-catching trinkets and artifacts teeter on top of one another leaving only a small patch of rug to share with the proprietor. He's a helpful and friendly man so this isn't too awkward but makes it hard to have a really good rummage in privacy. If you yearn for a flavour of Kerouac's Tangiers, or if you see yourself as a Sultan in your own home prove it by picking up something interesting at Bazaar Bargain Antiques. Four stars for being so much durned fun, and only one removed pending the presentation of a real-life genie.

There's a gold shopping trolley taking centre stage on the large display table right in the middle of the store. Underneath, a rainfall of small but candy-bright plastic rings, buttons ... oh yeah, and a swathe of Marc Jacobs handbags in tasty black or gold patent leather. Cheeky. On the back wall was a low shelf of spray paints, a signed Shepard Fairey HOPE poster and lots of great art. I was so busy chuckling, trying on rings and trying not to dance to the staff-built playlist I forgot to look at prices. Then again, when there's Banksys on the wall and Marc Jacobs on the table... I probably wouldn't want to.

A New Space, a unique boutique which opened its doors only a few weeks before Christmas, is run by artists and art lovers for artists and art lovers and stocks a range of artworks and teresting items, from designer books and artsy wallets to T-shirts with cool prints and Marc by Marc Jacobs bags. An old-school Kodak film-camera caught my eye, a great gift for camera collectors, or anyone who enjoys photography. I at least would love one. I'm getting so sick and tired of digital photography and these vintage cameras look sooo much cooler. When I first spotted this shop, I thought it was a pop-up store but the owner assured me they are in it for the long run. Thankfully, they survived the Christmas insanity and I can't wait to see what the January boxes will bring in store.
