My son, Jeremiah, has gained so much from Master Park's teachings so far. We decided to give Taekwondo a chance June 2021 because a year into quarantine during the pandemic was starting to take a toll on my son's mental and physical health. I worked near the old studio for many years and would drive by it everyday. While choosing this particular Taekwondo school was borne out of convenience, I'm so happy with our choice. Master Park and all of his instructors Kaia, Luis, and the others are so good with the children. You can see how much they respect and look up to them. My son has gained so much confidence in the short months he has been attending. His personality is very shy and insecure, but I can see that he's slowly coming out of that shell. Even his teachers at school has noticed a positive change. I'm so proud of the hard work he's putting in and sometimes he wants to go 5 days a week! I'm looking forward to seeing my son blossom under Master Park's tutelage in the years to come. Thank you for the hard work that you do for these kids.

We just started coming for two months after high recommendations from a family friend about Master Park's discipline and how the classes are so energetic. He instills so much respect and discipline from his pupils. All students show great behavior and help each other out. There are two additional assistants. Saturday classes tend to get a bit more crowded. We love how Master Park is teaching our son so many skills and he is loving it way more than his previous martial arts classes that wasn't as challenging. My son is currently a white belt and he has his yellow belt test next week. It's kind of pricey at $55 for a test but we feel that is worth it. He has been waiting for a Yellow belt for a long time. What we like about World Best Tae Kwon Do is that Master Park wont just give a kid their next level belt without having them study a few questions, explain why they want the belt, what are their short term goals, long term goals and even the parents have to check if the kid has been poor, good or excellent at home with various check marks that they need to accomplish like chores, respect for elders, siblings and teacher. There are other questions that ask about the child's attitude and habits at home. For Master Park it is not just a belt that you get at his studio. Getting the next belt means that the child is accomplished at home, school and at the studio to deserve it. It is a holistic approach that encompasses goodhabits as well as good Tae Kwon Do skills. Highly recommend this studio for any parents that wants too see more discipline, courage, confidence and respect from their child. March 2018 update: Saturday 10am family class gets very crowded. As Master Park, the 10am is strictly "family", like siblings or parents. He recommends the 11am class for kids attending without family in the program to avoid the overcrowded setting. March 2020 Update: We've been away from WBTKD for over one year. We had enrolled our son in the Black Belt program that guarantees the child will "eventually" get their belt, no matter how long it takes. It was pretty expensive. I think it was almost $3,000. My son took a break for more than one year and today he came back again. Master Park still remembered him and his assistant instructor too. They were not judgmental about why he came back after a long time or gave me a hard time about not accepting him back without paying again! I really appreciate that. As any parent of child knows, kids keep on changing their minds about activities they like to participate. So grateful that he didn't give us lecture about not attending for a prolonged period.

Master Park is the Best (Hence the name). My daughter Elia has been studying here for 3 years and we are absolutely loving it. Not only she gets to learn about Taekwondo, she also behave better at home. Thank you Master Park !

Master Park is great with kids, teaching technique, discipline, and respect

I took 4 years of martial arts when I was a teenager and my son (age 14 and now with 7 years…read moreexperience) is a black belt in karate. When we started looking in this area for what will become his new dojo, we were open to starting over in a new style, so we read all the reviews and websites for all the local instructors and then visited the advanced classes of the 9 within our acceptable travel distance. Both of us being experienced and knowing the path to black belt can take many years, we committed to really finding the right instructor/school for him by training with the 4 of those 9 that we liked best. SK Taekwondo was the fourth of the four we've tried and where we've ended up staying. Due to Covid, we waited over a year to try this place because they weren't allowing parents to watch while Covid was in full swing. We've been here for over 10 months now and it was definitely worth the wait. After a couple months of my son training here, my wife even signed up! SK Taekwondo is 5 stars all the way and I have so many good things to say about it. When we first started reviewing martial arts schools in the area, our intuition said SK would be the place we'd end up at because the classes looked like they were super fun and the training facility was huge and beautiful. It had great parking and a large area with seating for parents to watch. The little kids' classes were especially fun to watch with a dedication to both fun and discipline that was clear in both the joy of the students while training and the speed and enthusiasm they all demonstrated with lining up, doing drills and exercises, enthusiastically answering "yes sir!" as they did, etc. The school also has systems in place to support their younger students in getting good grades and being responsible and respectful at home. For the adult classes, which start at age 13, the same level of discipline and fun are encouraged. Every class consists of a warmup and stretching followed by technique training. Almost all exercises are partner exercises, so my son got to know other students quickly and there is a real sense of community. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and absolutely wonderful people, kind and supporting, friendly and welcoming to both students and parents like me who are just watching, and clearly dedicated to the sport. Instructors rotate and the classes are quite different each time, which our whole family enjoys. In the 10+ months we've been training, I can say that not a single class has been the same as any other. The foundational skills are included in everything and forms are usually 5-10 minutes at the end. The rest is really varied but always interesting and a great workout. Equipment like kicking pads, agility ladders, cones, etc. are used frequently and this makes the classes even more fun and diverse. They play music during the warmups and drills and that adds to the fun and energy of the environment too. Fridays are dedicated to sparring, testing is every couple months, and they have a "Black Belt Club" option where you can pay up front for unlimited classes until you get your black belt. This is the best price and what my son and wife both ended up doing. Estimated time to achieve black belt is 2.5 to 3 years if you are dedicated and attend class at least a couple times a week. This place is absolutely amazing and I could not recommend it higher. If you are looking for you or your child, come in and watch or try the actual class you/they will be in. Take advantage of whatever intro offer SK is offering at the time and experience it for yourself. If you do, I'm confident you'll be as happy and impressed as we have been!

Unacceptable Manager Conduct…read more My daughter keeps asking me after what happened today: 'Dad, why did auntie Cindy lie?' For many years even before the pandemic, we have been taking both of our kids to SK Taekwondo at this location. We came to know SK Taekwondo through our kids parents referral, and we value their teaching on the skill, and good character building such as discipline, self-control, and respectful etc. But, our good experience completely changed today after an incident that involved my daughter and how the manager, Cindy, was handling it. In the middle of the class today, my daughter came to me and told me that her foot was hurt, and that she might need to put on a bandage to prevent further damage so she can continue the class. I took a look at her foot, not serious but a little blood due to the cut. I told her that she could try to go ask the manager, Cindy, to borrow a bandage if she has one available. To my surprise, my daughter came back and told me the manager told her that there is no blood, don't be a baby, and get back to the class. I told her that maybe she should try ask again because I don't think my daughter should go back to the class to continue practicing her kicking lesson with an open wound on her foot, as this may make her existing cut worse with more pain and possible germs get in through her cut. Then the manager came back with my daughter, with a bandage in her hand, but asking me to go to her office. When we're in her office, instead of providing the bandage so my daughter can continue her class, the manager told me that girls and boys took injury differently, and girls tend to make small little hurt a big issue to walk away from the class. She told me that there is no blood on my daughter's leg, and that she does not need a bandage to go back to her class. While I agree that there might be some kids or girls would do that, but I have to disagree on her saying that there is no blood on my daughter's leg, and she does not need any bandage to cover her cut for her to continue the same kicking move in the class. I told her to take a closer look on my daughter's leg as I can clearly see blood, and the opening is exposing her cut to germs. She asked my daughter to show her leg again, and immediately, without looking at it, she said that was an old wound. I was like, 'What?" Are you serious? That is clearly a fresh new cut and she didn't even care to take a second look to say it was an old scar! She then went outside to bring in Master Lee. I repeated what happened to Master Lee, and the manager, right away denied that she say anything about mentioning on 'old scar wound'. I was so shock and unbelievable on what I heard!! She was literally lying in front of me, and my daughter for something that she just said 1 minute ago! Why would she do that????? I have to confront her on her lying in front of my daughter, and gave us a hard time while we simply asking for a little piece of bandage so my daughter can continue on the class! And she told us to GET OUT OF HER OFFICE! Twice! I cannot believe what just happened to us, and the way we're treated! This should not happened to any parents! As a parent that sends kids to this facility for years, I would expect that the kids safety is a priority, but this manager's conduct today clearly tell a different story! I also do not believe that 'Telling a lie' in front of a kid is a good example for all the kids that look up to their masters of this facility! It clearly violate the value of good character building and teaching that we see this facility is enforcing! I'm very disappointed over how the manager handled this little request of ours and set a bad example to my daughter. She definitely owes us an apology for her conduct today! For these reasons, I have asked for the owner's contact and I think he needs to know what happened if he is serious about enforcing his teaching at this facility. Master Lee took down my name, phone number, and email, and told me that the owner will be calling me. I will be posting future updates on how the owner is responding to this incident which seriously ruined the trust that we have rendered to his team at this facility.

When we started looking in this area for what will become his new dojo, we were open to starting over in a new style, so we read all the reviews and websites for all the local instructors and then visited the advanced classes of the 9 within our acceptable travel distance. Both of us being experienced and knowing the path to black belt can take many years, we committed to really finding the right instructor for him by training with the 4 of those 9 that we liked best. Champions Karate and Master Greg Muttart was the second of the four we've tested and he and his training truly lived up to his school's name. From the first time we met Greg, my son and I were both struck by what a nice guy he was and knew we'd be back to try his training. When we returned, we took 18 classes with Master Greg, attending 2 classes each training week. As an experienced martial artist and parent, I evaluate the trainings we attend with a critical eye for the style itself and the quality of the instruction and how the instructor is with their students. Greg and Champions Karate excel in both. Greg has trained in many styles but the foundational style he teaches is Hapkido. After two months of watching my son's classes, I consider this style far superior to any others he or I have trained in and/or seen. Greg's teaching of Hapkido is practical, built on foundations that are easy to understand and immediately applicable, clearly explained, and constantly approached from the perspective of how to use the techniques to defend yourself. Classes feel like Greg consistently has a clear plan in place before class starts. They are always well structured and include stretching and a warm-up exercise series, review of foundational skills, and various drills on how to apply those skills in real life. Hapkido also has no katas/forms, so all the training is on technique. Even with 4 years of experience and just watching, I learned so many things I wish I'd been taught all those years ago during my own training. Greg clearly lives and breathes martial arts, frequently referencing the styles of various pro fighters, recent educational videos he's seen, and decades of his own sparring experience. He works wonderfully with both kids and adults, makes the classes really fun and interesting to both take and watch, and he's got a great team of black belts supporting him. If I were looking to get back into training, Greg would be the instructor I'd choose and I definitely recommend checking out his classes if effective and fun self-defense conditioning is what you are looking for.
