Spectrum and AT&T are the only other feasible options here in town. All the others offer far slower speeds, according to (admittedly biased) review websites I've seen in a google search. They both pale in comparison to Wow. Wow is reliable, somewhat cheap, and fast. AT&T wasn't reliable and Spectrum cost way too much money. Honestly, though, I wish there were other options. I am an existing customer of many years. I saw an ad on Facebook for the YouTube TV and internet special at $112.98/mo. for the first year and decided to upgrade my service. I chatted with a CS rep and was informed that offer was for new customers only and the same service for me would be $160.00/mo! One would think WOW! would value their loyal customers at least as much as a new customer, but apparently not. I am now actively looking for another provider, as we have plenty to choose from. If WOW1 doesn't care about my business, then I will sign on with another provider as a new customer and get their deal. read more

We had previously used WOW and had excellent service from them. We've moved back into a WOW service area and had scheduled an installation for just internet service. I have my own equipment, so I just needed tech to come in, collect my modems info, get it running. Took the morning off for the appointment. They didn't even ring the doorbell and run. I've had wow for a year and a half. The good: it's super fast and reliable. The technicians are nice and efficient. The one who did the install worked through issues like getting the cable around tree branches. It's cheaper than time Warner cable and you get a 50 gift card if you use the right promo code. No extra charge for the install like time Warner cable. Or spectrum I guess. The bad? My service stopped working. This was the result of a modem, not wow. But calling into customer service took forever and the call center is in some third world country and it's very difficult to understand the operators. For the SECOND time in 3 weeks our internet was cut off during the day without notice! How many times do we have to say we work from home!!!!! Your workers came to the back of our house in the alley today and just off our internet without saying anything. My husband was in the middle of an incredibly important meeting. My husband went outside and asked the worker how long it would take and your worker said "I don't care that you from home, I don't have to call ahead, and it will take however long it takes." I contacted Wow to let them know I was moving my business to a new suite in the 2 weeks. They told me it would be no problem to move the account to the new suite. That was suppose to be installed 1 week ago and still have no Phone or internet in my new suite. Called customer service to complain and they didn't seem to care. If you try to cancel your services with them, they will refuse and make you call back on the exact end date of your billing cycle. If you miss that day, you will have to wait another month. This is absurd and they are making you jump through unnecessary hoops. Good luck trying to do anything more complex than that. They sold the Columbus Ohio division to another company. Now you no longer have unlimited data if you are a new customer or make changes to existing account. I never would have thought my home internet would have data caps. I understand some people working from home now are using are tom of data. They should make them switch to a business account rather than make data limits on the regular residential users. They do go down more often than they should. But also depends on your area and how new the lines are. read more

So I called Wow and asked for their service. I gave them my address and this is what the person on the phone said " Sir, we can not find your location." I assured them my house is not a ghost and is findable, but they kept telling me they can't find my house. They repeated my house address accurately. When I told them, " your cable box is in my backyard and the complex is filled with wow boxes." They didn't believe me because they stated they can track the boxes installed anywhere, but couldn't find mine!? We cut the cable cord with WOW because their service was ridiculous (see original review). Since we're in a monopoly where internet is concerned, unfortunately, there aren't many choices here in Cbus. In our experience, this is the worst internet service and customer service is so apathetic it is beyond frustrating. In a multi-unit community, they are constantly screwing up the lines between the customers. One neighbor gets service, and it cuts internet to two other people in the building. Those people call to get their problem fixed, they mess up two others. We've have nothing but a chronic graveyard of WOW flags in the backyard for 3 months they have buried and re-buried so many lines. You can't get anyone out for days at a time. We're on our second tech coming out in a two week period. (It would be sooner based on our calls but they can't get someone out sooner than 3 days and that has been a constant with them. Not like anyone is trying to work from home during a pandemic.) Oh yeah, they like to schedule "routine maintenance" during the middle of a work day or blame outages on the "heat of the day." If your cables can't work at 78 degrees (we've had 6 drops in the past 45 minutes and that is the temp), then what the heck are you using? When our internet goes down, everything goes down for us. In addition, we've been customers for years and have to call on the yearly for them to 1) fight them on raising rates to ridiculous levels (to give us the same rate as new customers) and 2) we run speed tests constantly and consistently get half of what we pay for and that was before everyone started working from home. read more

STAY AWAY PROPERTIES!!! Who makes renters with 1-year contracts at properties sign 2 year commitments for cable/internet service??? They are awful! We are finishing a lease and they are trying to charge a $2168 cancellation fee - during a pandemic and bad economy. We got this reduced from almost 5k and they think they are being generous. There service is awful as well. Very low internet speed and constant issues with installs. It doesn't even compare to what you get from RCN, Comcast or AT&T. In these trying times during the COVID 19 crisis, internet issues are rampant. As both Ryan & I are fortunate enough to work for employers affording us the opportunity to work from home, we have seen first hand how, as most of the world is telecommuting, the limitations of internet speeds. Our issues were consistently happening at certain peak times & were causing us much frustration. Later that evening we called & based on the tests that they were able to conduct remotely, they witnessed this firsthand & scheduled a NEXT DAY service appointment for us. Justin, our service representative, contacted us to get our permission to arrive early and give us ample to complete our work projects. He arrived not long after, was pleasant as can be & quickly got to work on the issue. He fixed what he was able to by replacing our modems and did some evaluation & made some recommendations for future improvements. read more

Every month I get a bill via email that is on autopay. I can access my bill. But it says nothing. Just the amount and date due. Our bill, without any notice, went up 57%. Huh? We are already nearly double what new customers pay. What can I do? I think we have the lowest speed but where do they show it. So I tried to trick them and pretend I wanted to upgrade. Nope. So you call customer service. They are telling you "chat" instead. It might be a long wait, so I hang up and compose something. The back of my mind is thinking chatting might be more easily understood because phone conversations are outsourced. A heavy accent doesnt come through on a chat. So I push "send" on my chat only to receive "chat is unavailable ". It is during normal business hours what do you mean "unavailable". So back on the phone. Sure enough the call is outsourced and I am getting tense because sometimes I cant understand and I dont want to be rude to these otherwise competent people. But Dien (at least she didnt call herself Brittany) was pleasant, as was I. We got the new rate down from 57% increase to 29%. Am I happy. No, but it will do for now until I look at other options or sell my house to those people that are bugging me to sell with their calls and texts. Yelp, asks if I recommend WOW. The fairest answer is maybe. I should easily be able to see what service I have. And I should be notified with any increases, certainly 57% ones. Otherwise service has been reliable. read more

DO NOT Subscribe to WOWWAY Internet. Their 100mps is a LIE. I tracked service at 10mps or less! I was on their internet for one year and paying $19.99 a month. Then they raised it to $24.99 a month. They just raised it to $44.99 a month and when I cancelled to go back to my old provider, they are charging me on what they said was a 2 year contract when they advertise "NO CONTRACTS." The technician for internet installation showed up today to start my new service. Unfortunately, homeboy didn't have the right equipment "or the time" to do the installation. I work from home and cannot wait another 6 days. Of course, it took them over an hour to get me this information and 7 transfers around WOW to get that news. I tried to log into my account after receiving my bill today (1-27-2022) and after one failed attempt it locked my account. I tried to reset my password. That failed also when I submitted my account email. So I had to call and after speaking to 2 different customer service reps and verifying my phone number and address which are on the bill they said they can't verify my account. I asked both reps to speak to a supervisor and said they can't get me a supervisor until I verify my account which I did but all the sudden their system doesn't have the information that has been the same since signing up. They even told me the answer to my security question was not correct. I have changed nothing. So what happened? I can't get any answers and all they do is repeat themselves like a robot. read more

Woway's customer service completely screwed up my account multiple times. First mistaking my account for another family members (after I told them multiple times not to mistake mine for theirs.) They disconnected my account not theirs. Then after calling back and spending hours on the phone with them, they changed my billing to manual after being years on autopay. Because once on autopay you rarely check your bill, I happened to notice a past due email. I called, paid on line and put myself back on autopay, and still got disconnected again because the payment didn't go through. I live alone and I ordered the security system and internet installed .. an all day installation they were nice . But a couple days later the security alarm would not shut off I finely couldn't take it anymore and took it iff the wall and returned it to a ups store as instructed they should have returned it .. no charge . All I want is a final and correct bill. I've always had a lukewarm feeling about WOW. The technology is behind the times, the service is average to below average, but the prices are low enough to keep you hanging around. Not anymore. My first cable box crapped out a few months ago. The service man came out and replaced it with an older looking, silver unit. I asked him if I can request the same box I originally had and he gave me every excuse under the sun not to get me the box I requested. F@*# it. Not worth the time or aggravation. Two days ago the picture on my screen begins twitching and I'm told by tech support I can trade in the box. It's friday and so I want to make sure I get out to the location to trade it in for a new one. Yet again the man at the counter brings out the 1980s looking silver box. I request a newer, black one, like the one I originally had, and he brought it out made it seem like he did me a huge favor. Gee, mister, thanks for getting me a box that looks like it's from the 90s instead of the 80s! I come home and plug in the new box. It looks like a setup screen came up with all sorts of numbers and code, I figured it's registering. After a few minutes I called tech support, who instructed me to unplug and plug it back in...even though I literally plugged it in ten minutes ago. This seemed to overwhelm the beautiful, cutting edge WOW equipment and the box became unable to startup. So, one or both of the following happened: 1. The SUPER generous guy at the office gave me a faulty unit 2. The tech support girl, Nancy, gave me bad directions to unplug the box. All in all, the tech equipment is outdated, the interface technology and DVR are unusable due to how faulty they are, and the service is pure trash. Oh but the prices are cheaper than Comcast! I went to WOW as they where the best alternative to Time Warner / Spectrum, which was a complete disaster in my opinion. WOW's service was great and Internet super fast. I really liked them, but then things went south. A few days ago, I received a collection notice for a WOW bill that I didn't even know existed. After calling in I found at that it was for early termination of service with them. A few months ago, I moved a few miles down the road. When I moved, I ordered WOW service for my new residence but was told that they did not service the area (literally just a few miles away). So I reluctantly switched back to Time Warner, (who's service has improved significantly since I first dropped them). I received what was supposed to be a "Final Bill" from WOW when I closed my account, which I paid with AutoPay. Then, 4 months later, a collection notice comes in the mail saying that I owe additional money. I call in, but they tell me that I owed the termination fee, and after 90 days the bill was turned over to collections and it was "out of their hands". I never received a single bill from them in 4 months! The customer service rep said the computer claimed they had, but I can assure you that I did not. All in all, what I am getting at is, if you move 20 feet outside of their service area, you will get popped this fee. This is the type of company that will try to nickel and dime you and and pop you with this fee, EVEN IF THE REASON IS DUE TO THEM NOT OFFERING SERVICE IN YOUR NEW AREA! WHAT A SCAM! I asked them why they did not offer service a few miles away and their answer was that "it was not financially viable for them as a business". I will pay their fee, and I hope they savor it, as it will be the last cent they ever get from me even if their service ever does come to my area. I classify their business practices as "Penny wise and pound foolish" as I would have been a lifelong customer until this point. I imagine it will only be a matter of time before they start dreaming up other types of fees for their existing customers. This all comes from previously loyal customer who touted their service every time I got the chance. My recommendation to them now is to avoid them unless you don't mind getting screwed. Time Warner / Spectrum was more expensive, and their service bad at times, but I never had to deal with this type of crap from them. read more

The worst company I have ever dealt with. Never have been able to resolve any issue with them with one phone call. Called to cancel my service because I am moving. They canceled my service a week early. Took over 2 hrs to get it restored and they refused to refund anything because I already paid for the month. Then told me they were not going to pro-rate it either. Then had the nerve to ask me to transfer my service to my new location. This was just one in the many many errors. Updating my previous review because after some experience with them, I can understand how people would be really frustrated with their personnel. My first experience had a cable installer running an unsightly cable up the side of my house and drilling a hole through my wall to get the cable inside. That was pretty bad. My second experience happened when the internet went out, suspiciously 50 seconds before midnight. I was in the middle of some work, so I pulled up the logs on the router and the modem to check the error and called their tech support to find out how long the maintenance would be. The error was one I'd seen before whenever there was maintenance or otherwise an outage on the cable provider's end. The tech support guy said that there was no maintenance and had me restart the modem. Naturally, the error persisted. He told me, "Your modem is defective. At this point, you're going to have to call the support line for your modem." I told him that I disagreed, and suggested that I hook up my old modem. Of course, the old modem showed the exact same error. Tech support told me, "The internet connection is fine. Your modems are both broken." To make it clear that I knew that he was full of crap, I asked him, "Do you seriously think that both of my modems failed in the exact same way at the exact same time? It doesn't matter if there were 100 modems here, the problem is on your end. But let me humor you. I see that the signal to noise ratio is fluctuating wildly. Can you tell me what the normal range should be?" "Sir, I cannot answer that question. Call back tomorrow if it hasn't started working again." Two and a half hours later, it started working again. Their personnel are clueless. Of course it was a maintenance event, but their tech support people didn't even have that information. "I don't know, just wait it out" would have been a more helpful response than wasting my time having me switch modems and suggesting that I get on the phone with support for the modem manufacturer. Three stars because it doesn't seem like anyone there has any idea what they're doing. While WOW overall is a much better value than Comcast, at least Comcast (mostly) understood when and how their own hardware was being worked on. read more

I was a customer of WOW's for almost 11 years. 10 of them were mostly flawless. I hadn't had issues with the cable service, customer service, billing or pricing. As of late 2015 I can say that WOW has now taken the reigning spot as WORST CABLE COMPANY EVER!!! Customer service was outsourced to Central America...no bueno, their customer service is terrible to deal with, their cable service became totally wonky and unreliable, and they began to gouge prices and behave a little unscrupulously IMO. I'm so pleased to be finished dealing with them and mortified at the way they treated me after over a decade of loyalty. Apparently you don't always get what you pay for! read more

I've been a wowway customer for about 15 years and they recently sent a new modem and asked me to install it and throw the old one away, so I followed the instructions. My VPN link to our office completely failed with this new modem, and they deactivated the old one. I called them four (4) times to speak with their techs and to no avail. Finally I requested a tech visit and he brought an older modem, and it now allows my VPN connection to work. They also are charging me $50 for the tech/Installation, after they created this entire problem for me. Unbelieveable about WOW; this company first caused me to lose a lot of work and created a lot of anxiety since I work from home. I think its time I look for a more customer focused provider. Most of the people I've talked to about getting new Internet service recommended WOW! I just got it installed today with 15 mbps service @$42/mth with no installation fees. Customer service has been great. Had the first tech come out and informed me that the line had been cut and would probably take a week or two to have a subcontractor come out and fix that problem. I waited two weeks, called them and they confirmed that the problem was resolved. Second tech just left. He explained all the relevant things I needed to know, checked the connection and the set up took just over an hour. My service is off to a great start. So far, so good. read more

He said it's annoying he keeps getting calls on his cell phone from WOW giving out his number. He has nothing to do with WOW. Whatttt is even going on with this company. 1. My installation was scheduled during peak COVID, so I was told that the equipment would be dropped at my door and a representative would call me and walk me through the installation. UH NOPE. Bro knocked on my door and walked right in. Minus that I was uh, not wearing clothes to meet strangers in, I didn't mind terribly but a heads up would have been cool? 2. During the installation, the gentleman told me that I couldn't use my Modem and Router (no idea if thats true or not) but that I could use theirs for free for a few months and then I would start to get charged 10-20/month or whatever. Ok fine. He says you're all set and leaves. I try to use the internet - it doesn't work. Why would you leave before checking to see that it works? 3. I did end up getting it working, but the quality is terrible. My internet goes out on a daily basis while I'm working from home. 4. Why is my bill so high? I signed up for the 34.99 plan. I noticed the first month my bill was like 70.00. Ok maybe the installation fee? Next two bills $60, $50. I'm told that I"m on a higher value plan but they can offer me a $10 discount. ?????? Lowkey I'm afraid to go to the LOWER value plan since I've had so many issues with this one. I will definitely be switching providers the moment I move. read more

Used to be great service until Teresa Elder took over and they farmed all their support out overseas and pushed everything to contractors in the states. Support takes forever to answer your call and once you get someone all the know how to do is tell you to reboot your modem. Two weeks and still going trying to resolve issues with internet after spending my own money trying other modems which did nothing as the issues are on their end. WoW service and support was great for over a decade and has gone to hell in the worst possible way. Now we have no good choices in central Ohio. *Update* 3+ Weeks in over 15 phone calls, 2x tech visits and nobody is trying to fix the issue, in addition they are attempting to charge me for the tech visits. We're WOW! customers, and a SPECTRUM tech cut off our service! Two days ago, I saw a man up on the utility pole in our alley. I asked him what he was doing, and he said "cable." After he left, we had no internet, no cable TV and no landline service. Our provider of 20 years, WOW!, sent over a technician who determined that a Spectrum tech -- rather than installing a new line in the rain -- had unplugged our service to connect service for a nearby house. How dirty is that! I tried calling Spectrum to complain but found it impossible to connect to a human being. Dishonest techs! Terrible customer service! In contrast, WOW! has excellent techs, and their customer service is exceptional -- When I called, it was easy to reach a human being, and they were super nice. Although the service interruption was not their fault, WOW! gave us a $25 credit to our bill. read more

Stay away! We decided to try them for internet cuz a decent introductory offer. We figured, what could it hurt? Fast forward 6 months of service literally dropping every single day, all during a pandemic. We had multiple techs come out saying they fixed the line from the ally, only for the service to get worse somehow each time. Never had this problem with spectrum, and trust me I'm not a cheerleader for any huge corporate telecom company. But at least they give you stable internet.
