Ambiance- lovely. Beautiful restaurant overall, maybe a bit loud, but nothing too crazy. The music choices don't fit the style of the restaurant... interesting juxtaposition. The food was hit or miss. The meatballs and polenta were delicious. The cheesy bread was okay. It had literally four olives on a bread the size of a dinner plate. Kalamata olives aren't expensive. Put more olives on the bread! My duck was delicious and cooked perfectly but my husband's steak was ordered medium-rare and was delivered medium-well. Disappointing. Service - We arrived early and were seated at a lovely leather couch to have some drinks while we waited. The hostesses put us there. The waiter confirmed we were waiting for a reservation. No one came to get us. They sent us a text saying the table was ready. This is not Chili's. You know where we are... come over and get us on the way to our table. We had to get up, go back to the hostess stand and recheck in. That's tacky. That's not the way a restaurant like yours should operate especially when you had at least five girls behind the hostess stand. Our cocktail waiter was excellent. Our dinner waitress was okay. She got nicer when she learned we were locals and not tourists, which seemed odd. Overall a good experience, but some service tweaks need to be made to be a next level, sustainable place. There is a lot of competition here in the valley. The details matter.

About a 2-2.5: I was excited to check out Wren & Wolf, as this place was highly recommended to check out while we were in PHX. They have a bakery case with pastries and coffee that you can just order and go, but the rest of the seating area offers breakfast, brunch, and dinner service. We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered: +the noble country toast - served with house-mixed berry jam; we were hoping for the whipped truffle butter, and when we inquired, the staff was able to provide us due to the mix-up; the toast was thick and grilled, but it was just a bit too much bread for us; we did enjoy the whipped truffle butter +a French omelette - served with a side of breakfast potatoes and a cup of fruit; this was very generous, and could have easily fed 2+ people +and, the spaghetti al pesto - prepared with edamame, lemon & herb whipped feta, candied pistachio, and mint; this was one of their popular items, but it ended up just being 'okay' - the spaghetti was cooked al dente, but there was an off/mildew-y taste to the pesto; also, the dish was served cold, and it seemed like it wasn't served right away from the kitchen I did like the decor of the restaurant, as it was high ceilings, spacious, and loved the paintings, the lighting, and the figurines. Staff were friendly. Easily accessible by the light rail. +cold dishes +whipped truffle butter +friendly service

I have been to Wren & Wolf for brunch and dinner. Every experience has been met with busy, yet friendly staff. While Wren & Wolf does not have a dedicated gluten-free menu, and cannot make everything gluten-free, their servers are knowledgeable and have always been able to let me know which items are safe for me (as a celiac) to order! For brunch, I have had the Steak and Egg Sandwich (with no bread). Amazing! For dinner, I recommend the Ceviche, Tuna Tartare, and Filet. All are amazing too! The only dessert I have tried (and would get again) is the Chocolate Tarte - it is also amazing! While the food is the star of the show, the is one of those restaurants that pays special attention to the decorations. There is definitely a bit of a taxidermy theme going on here, but it's tastefully done and offers a cool ambiance! You really cannot go wrong at Wren & Wolf... it's amazing!! Overall rating: *****FIVE STARS***** Gluten-free rating: ****FOUR STARS****

This is one of those places that are very impressive to be at, and the bill WILL reflect that. This is somewhere you go for a special occasion, like if you're trying to wine and dine someone, this would be the space. The atmosphere and service are 10/10, you will feel special. The location is downtown, it was giving NYC. My steak was perfect but I felt they could have done better with the sides. I didn't love the lobster baked potato and I was also disappointed by the Brussel sprouts because it's usually my favorite.

Celebrated a birthday at Wren & Wolf. Overall I would say it was an amazing experience. From the quality of the food, the ambiance being a dark and cozy feel, and the service being attentive and quick. We ordered oysters to start off and then cleansed our pallet with some caviar bumps. The entree I ordered was a steak and it was perfectly cooked. Be prepared to spend but for the special occasion I thought it was completely worth it. We didn't try the beef Wellington but the table next to us did, and it looks so good. I recommend Wren & Wolf for a date night or special occasion where you want an elevated and elegant experience.

Two days ago I came here with my husband and then yesterday I went again with my friend that lives in the area. I am visiting from out of town and this place was very close to our hotel so we decided to give it a shot and I gave it a shot two times because it was very good and I wanted to try some different things on the menu. The second time we went. It was a cool little cigar room, feel with a lot of taxidermy and when I say taxidermy, I say it in the most tasteful of ways. Service was good. Both of our servers were nice. I had excellent suggestions and if the food that we ordered would be enough. I ordered the lobster pasta. It was very good along with the Zataar bread, service and whipped ricotta salad. It's an upscale restaurant a lot of drink options good ambience, and really good food. I didn't have anything. I didn't like. I'll definitely come back again When I'm in the area.

Hands down one of the best and most memorable dining experiences we've had. Tim and I went to Wren & Wolf to celebrate his Master's graduation and it was superb from start to finish. The atmosphere alone is amazing -- beautiful space, great energy, and they seated us right on time for our reservation. Everything we ordered was fantastic and honestly very reasonably priced for the quality and experience. We started with the bread service with bone marrow, then had truffle mac and cheese, shrimp, ribeye steak, pork schnitzel, beef carpaccio, tuna tartare, chicken and dumplings... and a few other things I completely forgot to take pictures of because we were too busy enjoying everything. We can't say enough good things about this place. The food, the service, the vibe -- all of it was incredible. Tim and I are already talking about planning a drive back to Arizona just to eat here again

Love this place. Came here before the Suns game for dinner and it was such a treat. Service was amazing and ambience was calm and relaxing. We came right before the rush of dinner. Food was so good! Truffle fries were perfect! Crispy and crunchy.

My friends and I came here to celebrate our birthdays. The server was super attentive and gave amazing recommendations, loved the vibe it was very upscale comfort. The tagliatelle noodles were really good, I ordered the ribeye it was very flavorful and I enjoyed it Oscar style there was a good amount of crab meat. Also the dessert was very rich.

    Cindy L.

Suchhh a great experience at this restaurant. Incredible drinks (try the "I love you but I love me more") and the steak was wonderful, but the real show stopped was the tagliatelle. I really enjoyed this dinner and will definitely go back!

Came in for the WMPO and saw this place across the street from the hotel. First off the vibe of this place is on point, but the downside being it is extremely dark and it's hard to see your food or even the menu. We started with the bone marrow with bread which was really good, but the bread cuts your gums and lips given the rustic nature. The beef carpaccio wasn't very good as the amount of grated Parmesan cheese they cover it with over powers anything else and just ruins it. The Za'atar bread is the star of the show. Flavorful, soft, and crispy all in one. I didn't feel like eating a big meal and opted for the avacado caesar with a NY strip. The dressing and flavor was superb, but the steak isn't the best I have ever had and was mediocre at best. Service was super friendly and prompt but overall this place is average.

    Duck Breast a la Orange

We had a very nice dinner before a show downtown, and it was a very fun spot for a special night out. I want to note right out of the gate that I really waffled between four and five stars, because I felt the food and drink were five star, and our server was five star, but the hosts at the front and some elements of the ambience didn't rate as highly. We started by treating ourselves to some seasonal cocktails, which a bit higher-priced but were lovely. Mine was bourbon-based with gingerbread spices, and tasted very cozy. For our entrees, we got the Spaghetti al Pesto and the Duck Breast a la Orange. The spaghetti was divine! It was luscious, with a smooth sauce, heaps of rich feta, and touches of acid and herbs to cut through all the unctuousness. I would order this and devour it over and over again. It was a big serving, too! The plating is deceptively compact -- I started eating and realized very quickly how generous the portion was. The duck was also a winner! The plating on it was beautiful, and it had a spicy-sweet flavor that melded the citrus and harissa well. We stayed simple with dessert -- some bright, fresh fruit sorbets -- mainly because we were so wonderfully stuffed by the time we got there. Our server was great! When we alerted her that we needed to make a show, she made sure to keep our service moving without ever making us feel rushed. Also, we let her know of an allergy that one of us has, and she was amazing about not just flagging the allergen, but proactively telling us what was either already allergen-free or could easily be made that way. It was really helpful to be able to zone in on what worked, rather than just ruling things out. The elements that kept this from being a five star experience: - The staff at the host stand did not manage entering patrons well, resulting in a massive clump of people that were all being ignored by the three hosts who were all conferring about something else without so much as a "We'll be right with you" to the ever-increasing crowd. It was messy and made a poor first impression. - The restaurant was very dark and very loud. There's a fine line between "lively and buzzy" and "just loud", and unfortunately it landed on the latter for me. - The tables in the area in which we sat were so close together that diners were bumping against their own and/or their neighbors' tables anytime they had to get up. Having said all that, I would still highly recommend Wren & Wolf to anyone looking for a special, unique night out in downtown Phoenix!

11.29.25 - Friendsgiving dinner/GNO! I chose this place since it was the restaurant with availability before our next reservation at a bar nearby. I've eaten here a year ago and been to Trophy Room a few times prior. I love the ambiance and decor here! They did a great job with the interior! Our order: Fame, Fortune & Glory cocktail That Me Expresso cocktail Wren There's A Will There's A Way cocktail 1/2 dozen Oysters Hiramasa Crudo King Crab Stuffed & Grilled Oysters Braised Oxtail Pappardelle Wild Boar Bolognese My drink was a tad sweet. Shoulda went with the Phoenix drink I was originally looking at. The hiramasa crudo was good. My friend said the king crab stuffed oysters barely had any crab and it only came with 3 oysters. I remember trying the wild boar bolognese my cousin ordered last time and it was good so I got it this time. However, after trying the braised oxtail pappardelle my friend ordered this time, I would say the braised oxtail pappardelle had better flavor! I've been to one of their other restaurants in Tempe and loved that as well. Still need to try their newest restaurant in DT Phx as well as a few of their other bars. Can't wait to see what Pretty Decent Concepts comes up with next!

    Toast to the good life!

Wren & Wolf Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Wren & Wolf

Can I leave my car parked at the restaurant while I see a show at the financial theater?

The restaurant validates parking for the Two Renaissance parking garage. Otherwise, you'd have to pay to park there.

    Are there any vegan options?

Is happy hour still offered from 3-5?

    Yes it is

    Are there gluten free options?

    Yes

Hello are happy hours 3-5 or what time?

    Yes. 3pm to 5pm. Everyday

Do they have a hidden or secret "vip" room? If so, who's allowed in, what's the secret password? Lol

Yes they do, it's reservation only, not really a secret just private and no password required :)

    What is the dress code?

A bit upscale. You will or at least should feel uncomfortable in shorts and tshirt.

For the coffee bar, is this somewhere you could sit and work for a couple of hours in the morning, is it serviced, or grab and go? I didn't see a breakfast menu: is there any food or pastries available?

Yes. There is public wifi, options table service or grab and go and ample seating for work. There are pastries that go along with the coffee and the lunch menu begins at 11am.

    Where is parking?

    City scape across the street

I see reviews mentioning happy hour but don't see a time or menu. Does anyone know if they still have happy hour and what time it is? (and on weekends)?

    3-5pm, Mon-Friday.

We have reservations this week. Bringing our 9 yr old to the dinner. Is the restaurant and menu child friendly?

They have a fancier Mac and cheese that your 9 year old may like! Or the meat loaf. But it is definitely a more mature pallet. They seemed very accommodating though, so maybe they could make a basic pasta ragu?

    Do they offer reservations?

Yes, you can book a reservation on Open Table.

Do they offer any gluten free food items?

They do. I have celiac disease and am forced to eat gluten-free... and they have a handful of delicious gluten-free options available! Some entrees unexpectedly include gluten, so be sure to ask your server if you have any concerns/doubts. I'm… Read more

It felt like a place that may be a bit of a victim of its own success--popularity has grown, but delivery hasn't fully kept pace. Part of the appeal here is the permanent taco truck outside, which I know from past visits is excellent, and I love the truck's outspoken, unapologetic support for immigrants. That said, the cocktail itself was excellent. I was specifically looking for a coffee-based drink before heading to another event, and the Cambures al Estilo Foster delivered on flavor. It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.

The menu seemed focused on the cocktails, with a mixture of what might be considered and appetizer or main course mixed together. We got the watermelon and cucumber salad to start, thinking it would be refreshing after a long walk there in the heat. Both of us were shocked when the first notes of the watermelon were spicy. We read the menu and then understood that this was not meant to be a light bite. It was very enjoyable, but just a different taste than expected. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles. This had the spice expected. What was interesting was that the spices were almost exactly the same to the watermelon and cucumber salad. Not bad, but we probably would have ordered a different starter. We also ordered the streak bowl and the foccaccia with ricotta. The steak was incredible, and the highlight of the meal. This would have been better with more egg..not sure one full egg wad used? and less rice. The focaccia was warm and the ricotta with honey a nice palate cleanser before and after the meal. I wish they give the options of mushrooms like Enochi and King Oysters along with extra condiments for the Suki Sauce like Garlic, Chilli and Lime juice. The service was really good and attentive. This place really took me back to the Moo Kra Ta buffets in Bangkok and made me nostalgic. I hope they do have more options in terms of seafood and veggies! I hope the restaurant specifies clearly that the services are on reservation basis only because it isn't clarified anywhere yet. This would help a lot of people. Also, I hope the restaurant informs, directs and put in place about the parking spaces available around. Can't wait to get back already!

Located in Downtown Phoenix, the parking situation is a little hairy. There is paid parking nearby,…read morebut it definitely is better to come a little earlier to scope out the parking situation and get that sorted before your reservation. My party and I had a reservation on a Saturday night at 9pm (when it's 13 people, what can you do). What kind of sucked though (and mainly why I'm deducting a star) is that we did wait an additional half hour to be seated after our reservation time. Our theory is that they didn't think the entire party would actually arrive, and they were not ready to accommodate us. To be fair, the restaurant IS on the smaller side, but there was 0 communication during that half hour on what was going on... which isn't really good for us either. We got the original set, and this somewhat confused me as well. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.
