A long-established fishmonger whose primary business is selling directly to restaurants, Wrights has extremely limited retail hours-- if you're on a normal work schedule, Saturday morning or early afternoon is your only real option.
But it's worth the wait. From the artfully arranged front displays -- last week it was a whole shark, lunging after a pineapple -- to the many many varieties of bagged shellfish, some not available anywhere else in Dublin, this store exults in its love of seafood, and is a joy to shop in. I've rarely been disappointed in the freshness and quality of their offerings, and there's always something new to discover, priced from ultra-affordable chowder mix to sashimi-quality tuna.
After a long renovation, the display area is much larger and more welcoming, with a deli in the back serving a variety of sandwiches (including, of course, the smoked salmon which Wrights is deservedly famous for).
