I started my five years with Writer's Relief as a closet poet, writing secretly and sharing with very few friends. I have just completed my first (and probably only) novel, and was told by people I trusted that I was unlikely to find an agent or publisher until I had garnered some "publication credits." At the same time I learned about WRelief, so I pulled together five fav poems and sent them in. Relieved to be taken on as a client (first submission is a kind of audition, you might say), I was at first a bit up tight about their edits -- it took some time to tame me, but in the end I came to value both their precision and care, and their respectful forgiveness when I insisted on my own 'experimental' or inventive choices -- But the magic was when, shortly after "send off" I received my first acceptance from an actual literary journal -- The editor's response began, "We love your poem..." What can I say! It changed my life -- and as further acceptances rolled in, I soon began to be spoiled, absolutely identifying myself as a published writer, and writing more faithfully and trustingly -- sure I had an audience out there! Soon enough, I bit the bullet and had them make me a website, where my publications page now holds hot links to 35 published poems, one creative non-fiction essay, and two short stories-- I took the "elite service" which means they do all the work -- all I had to do was keep writing, which at my advanced age was a true deliverance. The name says it all -- relief and gratitude unending. Now, with this confidence-building era behind me I am moving on to doing my own submissions, using Poets & Writer's for my targets -- but no brainer, I could not have gotten this far without WRelief -- Expensive but reasonable given what they do, and worth every penny to me, at least! read more

There are a lot of rip-off/scam companies preying on people who are trying to "self-publish." Don't release your work before at least talking to the people at Writer's Relief. They were one of the very few companies I was even willing to try, and I'm very glad I did. Big thing is that they may not accept your work. But imagine, a company that is honest enough to say that your work isn't ready rather than saying that they never saw a fee that they didn't like. They do exactly what they say they will do and the prices are great. Be ready to work WITH them and with the team they assemble for you because you must be part of the process (and it is an amazing learning experience too). Biggest thing for me was they flat out say that they can't & won't promise any results. Wow, more honesty! Anyone who promises you any kind of results is, in my opinion, lying and that kind of promise is a good sign that you will get scammed. Writer's Relief is brutally honest about your writing and completely honest about doing exactly what they say they will do and in the time they say they will get it done (provided you do what they ask of you and in the time they tell you it must be done). They are great people and very easy to work with. My advice for any 1st time self-publisher is to at least talk to them before you do anything else. read more

There should be a minus star for scam "businesses" like Writer's Relief. I hope all want-to-be writers understand that when Writer's Relief asks you to submit a sample of your writing, they are asking you to GIVE away your work, because once you PAY THEM to review your work, THEY OWN IT! You cannot get your sample work published anywhere else once you have given WR your work and PAID them apprx $400 for 9-12 pieces of your work. They can then take ALL the work you send them, compile it in a book along with the work of others, sell that book under their name and THEY make money again. So they are asking you to give them something they can make moneey from and you have to pay for that privilege! What hutzpah!!! Please! Do not fall for these Internet editors and their scams that exist for the purpose of separating you from your money and taking credit for your work. read more

I have been a client of Writer's Relief since 2003. I was a mother of two working 60 hour weeks when I signed up with them. I am convinced that had I not enlisted their services I would have given up on my writing. I joined Writer's Relief about a year ago. I had tried getting my stories published for years but only had intermittent success. They assigned a rep to me and we immediately began to figure out which of my stories would most likely lead to publication. They assist in editing and turning some of my phrases back into English! They have access to an endless list of mags and so far seem to know what types of work these mags are looking for. I have now had two stories published in magazines with their help and am working on several more. So, for the writer who doesn't have an MFA or the luxury of forty or fifty years, the folks at Writer's Relief can help jump start your career. They shape up your cover letter, proofread your manuscript, and suggest journals to send your work to. Plus they nudge me with deadlines, and provide some cheerleading and encouragement. For me, time is a precious commodity, and I appreciate all the help they have given me in advising and just being there to make sure I stay in focus. Writer's Relief is a great service for those who do not have exposure to the markets of publishing and do not have the time, willingness, or know-how to acquire that knowledge. For myself, I didn't really want to spend the time sifting through thousands of literary journals to find a home for my work, so WR was perfect. Keep in mind, though, that they do not help develop or edit your writing (outside of minor edits), so this is really for people whose stuff is polished but unpublished. read more
