I hate to write a review like this, but I have been listening to this station for nearly a year…read moresince I moved here. For a station that tags itself as the "voice of St. John's County", it certainly leaves a lot to be desired as St. John's grows and prospers. The station owner (Ms. Phillips), hopefully recognizes that the county also includes areas such as Julington Creek, Crescent Beach, and Ponte Vedra. From this listeners viewpoint, WFOY (Fountain of Youth) is a poorly programmed hodgepodge of national right wing talk & news shows or to the other extreme local persona yammering about their personal pursuits. Weekdays, at 8am is the supposed "local news" where Ms. Phillips and her current sidekick talk about themselves. The national news on the hour is often cut off by local paid ads or dead air. It is very difficult to find out what is going on in this area, as the local newspaper demands payback for on line news, so an effective radio outlet is very "important. Furthermore, weekend programming has been "improved" to include, for example, more radio gun shows on Sundays! If we really want to know what is going on, we have to rely on out-of-town "mature" stations. If this is the best Ms. Phillips and her cohorts have to offer, she should consider selling the station so that St. John's county can have a respectful and truly informative media outlet that is indeed reflective of our diverse culture.
