I've been coming to/ordering from Wu's for a couple years now and they are honestly my favorite Chinese place in Irving/Valley Ranch - which is saying a lot considering how many options there are. For a period earlier this year, the quality began to diminish but they seem to have gotten a grip on it which is great. I was seriously upset when faced with the possibility that my favorite place would no longer be reliable. If management reads these reviews, please do what you can to keep your staff & cooks happy. My favorite thing to order is the Hot Pepper Crispy Chicken. I do not use the sauce that comes with it, just add salt. It's a relatively simple item but so good. It's almost always my go-to when I'm in the mood for Chinese food. Try out Wu's! It's quite a bit better than the average. It's also owned by a very hard working family. I always like to support local family-run businesses in Irving. Keep it up! read more

I have to say this place has by far the best, most traditional Chinese food in the DFW metroplex. Here's my review of this place in order by what I ate. 1-10 scale Hot and sour soup. 10 out of 10. It was the perfect balance of both worlds and I could tell that it was made that day. Based off the flavor, texture, smell and over all freshness. Fried Calamari. 10 out of 10. This appetizer really surprised me. Strips of lightly breaded calamari with minced bell peppers on top of a bed of shredded lettuce. This dish presented an ideal balance of spice with the delicate flavor of the calamari. Pine nut Fish. 10 out of 10. This elegantly simple but beautiful dish really took the prize. It's two fillets of flounder (white fish) breaded and fried, roped with shredded veggies with a flawless dark sauce with pine nuts to really push this dish from stunning to divine. I mean divine in every aspect of the word I can't imagine how this dish could get any better. I have eaten here several times and found it remarkably fine Chinese food. Also, I have ordered for delivery and had the same experience. Unfortunately the last two times I ordered for delivery, the food was not good. I thought the first time, it was some type of mistake, but tonight, having tried them a second time, the food is very different and not anywhere near as good. I ordered delivery the Vietnamese Spring Rolls and lunch sesame chicken, the lunch special comes with rice and a fried spring roll. The lady who took my order spoke English very well gave me my total and estimated time (coming from NY it was always a rushed phone call, they never understand what I'm saying and sometimes resulted in the wrong order being delivered, they also never give you a time or total, these things make a difference) it was my first time ordering from this place I special requested it to be extra spicy and add white meat. It is very good the portions are perfect and the taste is above satisfactory compared to other Asian cuisine restaurants tend to all taste the same, this was better. Although it is a little more than what I would like to spend, my total was $20. Delivery was accurate with the time I was given over the phone. Over all I 4 stars because it is pricey, but I will be eating here again and I would recommend it to others. :) read more

The governor's chicken was good the fried rice is nasty. I wouldn't say it's the best place I've had way better found the service was sub par. I didn't like the fact that for $13.00 you get a nice portion of meat o.k. amount of rice but no egg roll the server advised you only get an egg roll with carry out what kind of sense does that make? The waiter and some man were arguing over how to apply the birthday discount needless to say wouldn't come again nor would I recommend. I travel to China many times a year and Wu's is by far the best Chinese food I have had here in Dallas. In fact, a friend from China visited last month and he was very impressed and said he thought he was home it was so good. The lamb chops are very good, the Pepper Steak, one of our favorites, I like the Duck but my wife was not a fan (she admits a mental thing about eating duck.) The fried rice has always been excellent. I would not hesitate a moment recommending Wu's to anyone for a good meal. read more

hands down, the best shrimp fried rice ever!! there are SO many shrimp in the rice! A lot of Asian restaurants will also short you on the meat - i.e. order beef and broccoli and receive more broccoli than beef. Wu's does NOT do that with their meals. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because a couple times our order has been off. Count your (very delicious) egg rolls before you let the delivery person leave! read more

I really don't write bad reviews for anything. I feel they are often not helpful unless, as in this case, it REALLY warrants the review. Ordered 2 meals to go, service at pick-up was fine and there were no order errors as we received the dishes ordered, they were still hot and everything looked fine.. This rare negative review is all about the food. We eat real Chinese food 3 or 4 times a month and are experienced in many dishes and variances between restaurants and types of Chinese food. In short this is the second worst Chinese I have had ever, second only to the restaurant in Dallas that tried to serve rat as peking duck... now closed down of course. The shrimp dish was awful. My daughter gave it 1.5/5 at best. Sauce tasted awful, smelled off and covered the entire dish rendering it inedible. Tried to feed it to the dogs and they refused... enough said. The duck "specialty" dish was terrible. Low quality duck, poorly cooked and presented on a bed of what I think was supposed to be lettuce but appeared to be rotten but cant be sure. 0/5 is too good for this dish, which I can best describe as an hacked up skeleton with patches of fat and skin dipped in warm grease. Very little meat and that was horrid. The only saving grace of this dish was that the dogs ate it, being unconcerned about the rotten lettuce or pool of grease. 0/5 Rice (Fried and steamed) both were really bad and a waste of the carton they were in... 0/5 Egg roll - Very greasy, poor taste that sauce could not drown. Much worse than even common grocery store frozen egg rolls. Fortune Cookie was fine. So $30 or so for 2 to 3 bites per meal and a dog snack. Not only is it a waste of money, I will not eat there again even if I was paid. Could have been a bad day or a new cook or .... Whatever the problem is the food being served is bad enough I felt compelled to warn others. Service was fine, food was horrid. read more

Good hot and sour soup, and very good spicy dumplings. Adequate spring rolls, slightly dense and spongy. Kung Pao chicken with added snow peas was tasty but much spicier than the "mild" ordered. My boyfriend and I went to Wu's not that long ago for the first time. We went inside instead of getting take out, and it was really good. The food came out hot and we shared sesame chicken and orange chicken. It was pretty good! We also have had their take out which is not as good because by the time we were home it was cold. Ordered through yelp. Found my new favorite Chinese! I ordered the Orange Chicken and it was delicious. The only drawback is I had to pay extra for white meat. Also ordered the Crab Ragoons and those were delicious as well, only drawback there was they gave me a tiny thing of dipping sauce. I love Asian food and have eaten it from Virginia, to Rome, to Athens, to Texas and Wu's Asian Bistro stands up to any, anywhere! Mu Shu Pork, Eggs Foo Young and Garlc Eggplant are my favorites. I longer drive so I have it delivered. The food always arrives piping hot and delicious. The staff is always helpful in making changes. Delivery personnel is wonderful. Once, just as the delivery arrived at my front door, I fell and broke some facial bones and the young man with the food, helped me up and situated, so I could get medical attention. The Singapore chicken dish is awesome! The Crispy Beef dish is delicious! The atmosphere and ambiance is superior to anything around it! A good Beer at $4.75 is high, $3.75 would be better (I won't pay that again). Wine list is limited to wines I would not drink, this could be improved fairly easily. Better to have something people want than inferior wines that are overpriced. When I was in the restaurant business wine and beer sales were the biggest profit items and the easiest to serve and make money on. Our restaurant was always full...always great beer and wine prices and selections people liked. The way to generate buz and fill up capacity is with great food and great drink prices. I used to loooove Uncle Tai's in the Galleria. Saw a Groupon and decided to try. The fried calamari appetizer and shrimp lo mein were delic. The walnut shrimp however, were way too sugary! You could taste bits of sugar as you ate the shrimp. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was efficient (kept tea glasses full) and friendly. I placed an order for delivery. They took a little longer than the estimated time of arrival. I ordered Chicken Fried Rice and BBQ spare ribs. The chicken in the fried rice was not good at all. I've ordered from them several other times, but that day it was off. The BBQ ribs were not BBQ they had the sweet and sour sauce on them and they were a little tough. Not sure if I'll order again. Good Chinese food when you want decent takeout close to home. Pros: The Governors chicken and Szechuan beef are really good. My boyfriend likes the orange chicken but I prefer the governors. Very similar either way. Hot and sour soup is delicious. Friendly service too. Cons: I don't think they've ever had our food ready in the estimated time they told us. However I believe it's because they are understaffed. Usually there is only one waitress who is serving in the dining room, handling take out and helping in the kitchen. I always feel so bad for them because you can see other customers get impatient and mad but it's clear they're working their hardest. Another downside, in the summer it was so warm in the dining room. They clearly did not want to run the AC as they had several small fans running around the room. It was humid and uncomfortable. Part of me feels like they are cutting back on some key areas that could be driving some customers away. Perhaps hiring additional staff and putting forth more effort in the overall customer experience would result positively for the business. 3 stars for management. This place has changed names 2 or 3 times. But always seems to be same family running it. Initially tried the chicken, both sesame and orange. And neither were very tasty, much too tough and rubbery. I do like their steamed dumplings. Food seems a bit pricey. Very quiet atmosphere. Quite small as there is maybe 8 tables, but have never seen more than 2 tables occupied. So I assume most of their business is takeout, otherwise they would have gone out of business by now. read more
