All was well UNTIL time to sit down with the lawyer (JW) for closing. She entered looking and acting as if we were the opponents in a trial. We were there as the sellers on a simple real estate sale. She explained the line items on the sales document in a loud and grating voice. I asked a couple of questions. She got louder and more strident. THEN I asked a question about one of the line items that was actually in error. This did not sit well. She repeated "explained" the line item by telling us what was obvious on the document without acknowledging there was a missing entry. She seemed in such a hurry to move away from that item that, upon reflection, I'm not sure she ever listened to the questions that were posed. We did get paid for the missing item. On the last three lines on the document, she decided to leave the room to "give me time to consider those last lines." It was obvious I had already examined the document. She took offense when I said " we'll wait while you to go tiddle your winks."* (I really didn't mean to vocalize that.) She stomped back and I apologized for the comment. She wouldn't continue until I did. I thought it was a little comical. While I would never recommend this firm, I will say that the interactions with all the other staff were great. Up until encountering JW, I was considering this firm for my real estate law needs. Someone ACTING like JW might be great to have on your side for a criminal trial but there is no need to be unpleasant during a simple real estate closing. For context, I have bought and sold numerous properties and been present for many more transactions with many attorneys. Some have been laid back, some have been a little stiff, some have obviously been in a hurry (and several have apologized up front), but this is the first time that I have encountered an attorney that was just plain unpleasant from the first moments through the entire process. I sincerely hope this is NOT the norm but in the intervening hours since I left the offices of Wylie and Washburn I have made some investigations. Absolutely DO NOT recommend this firm. Insular and unprofessional is the nicest comment I can post I would even go as far as saying incompetent! Closed on my house July 2020 and unbeknownst to me at the time I did not have a clear title on my entire property even though both a diligent and competent title search was supposed to have been conducted. Today, April 14th, 9 months later I finally received both the correct deed and title insurance policy. In order to get my property deed fixed I had to hire additional counsel to push Jadda to actually do her job. Jadda did not represent my best interests in this financial contract, but the seller was definitely taken care of and her interests were recognized throughout the entire process. Furthermore, days after closing there were additional issues with funds for services and Jadda had an indignant attitude when asked about a resolution.
