Leaving a Yelp review for a church seems a bit odd, especially since Jesus shows up in His Flesh…read moreand Blood at every faithful mass! How are you supposed to rate coming before the Son of God? Apart from the "ordinary" Miracle of the Eucharist, is where I will keep my rating and my review. I was in the area for work and looking for a place to celebrate mass. I thought I would try Yelp since none of the mass-finder apps seem to work very well. St. Ann's was closest and had mostly "good reviews". The one negative review mentioned that all the priest did was talk about money, but I thought there is no way that could happen. WRONG!!! The priest's ENTIRE homily was about the annual report. When the priest began his homily saying it was important for transparency to let the parishioners know how the parish was doing, I silently applauded. However failing to give even a couple words about Jesus and spiritual matters during a LONG briefing about money in and money out was disappointing. Fittingly ironic that in the gospel of the day, Jesus said, "man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that comes from the Mouth of God." So where is the spiritual balance sheet for the parish? Please don't get me wrong, The priest did seem very invested in saying the mass (not just get through the words as quickly as possible as TOO many churches do) and the congregation seemed fairly welcoming. However, the one unfavorable review seems fairly accurate for at least the weekend when I visited.

This past week (Wedensday) I received a phone call from my daughters teacher Mrs. Hoskins (Amanda)…read moreabout an issue that happened in the cafeteria weeks ago and not the day she called me, but I never heard of this incident until she called me. She apparently said my daughter was accused of stealing lunch an snacks from other girls which is not true what's so ever. My daughter would never have bone in her body to steal anything from anyone especially food. So I was so upset about this and from the other things I've been getting notified about after the Christmas holidays. Something in my gut told me something was not right, so I went to the school that afternoon to have meeting with the lower school principal (Jocelyn Smith). I waited over an hour to see her and at that time school was getting dismissed. We went to a conference room in the front office and I explained and expressed my concerns about daughters behavior and to see if other things at the school are happening that I don't know such as her getting bullie, which my daughter was bullied on the second or third week of her attendind this school. She then stepped out to supposely get my daughter, so we can get to the bottom of whats been going on which was a (lie) About 30-45 minutes later she comes in with the police (which was about 6 police officers) and apparently DFCS (CPS) was called as well. I was so confused as to what was going on everyone just standing there looking at me like I knew what was going on, so I then ask the first question which what was going on, and then one officer stated that there has been an allegation of me beating my child everyday, and me depriving (starving) my daughter of food who is all of 120lbs at the age of 10 in the 5th grade. My child father was never called, we do not live in the same house hold, and is down for a contact for my daughter. No one never called anyone on my emergency contact list as well. I had to call my daughters dad and explain to him what was going on while I was in the conference room of the front office waiting for hours, who they never let come in where I was once he showed up to the school. Then when I had use the restroom, thats when one of the officers decided to talk to me and I ask why was in waiting for hours and no one came in to follow-up with me or let me know whats going on, not even a so called pricinciple or so called teachers. After hours went by I was then told my daughter could not go home with me, and had to go home with her dad, mind you I have sole custody of my daughter, not joint. No one ask me what was best for my daughter or where I wanted her to go. You would have thought I was a criminal the way I was treated and I was in my military uniform. The local police department did not have jurisdiction, CID and my chain of command was contacted. My daughter was questioned for hours with neither parent. The 5th grade counselor Mrs Green (Kimberly), "teachers" Mrs. Hoskins, and Mrs. Raza (Catherine), and "principle" Jocelyn Smith icluding the police harrassed and questioned my daughter to get information out of her asking her what happens when you get in trouble at school? What does your mom whoop you with? It's normal to ground your child, and whoop your child in the STATE OF GEORGIA as long as you don't have in bruises, so again why was I being accused for beatting my child who had no brusies, no proof starvation or depriving of food. Thursday- I had my child disenrolled by her dad and enrolled her into another school on base where we live. My daughter loved this school and made friends after we relocated here in July (only been 6 months), and now has to start all over becuase I refuse to send her back to this school. Friday- Case closed nothing was founded, and my daughter was returned to me that morning. I contacted the teachers and priniciple about getting my daughters things from her classroom, and to return what ever my daughter had at home which was one library book. Not one person replied or contacted me. One library book my daughter said she left in the classroom on Thursday when her dad picked her up, and the school is trying to charge me $25.00 for a babysitters club book. I then knew this was all lies and they did not have a case what so ever. Its just the fact that they told a lie becuase they knew I was then disenroll my child after that. If they really wanted my child to leave the school thats all they had to say. But to try to ruin my reputation, my career (12+ years in the military), public humiliate, embarasse me, blindside me, its so pathethic. For this school to be a Catholic School all they care about is money, protend to like your child and smile in your face but deep down in side they really do not like black people. All I can say is what you do unto others, it will sure return to you.

If you are looking for a quality catholic school to send your kids, or even a quality private…read moreschool - don't go to this school. First, the staff who leads this school are nothing but entitled people who worry more about money than they do about education. While they hold PHDs, they know nohting about leading and managing. They lost at least 4 catholic teachers this year who don't like the direction the catholic school is heading, and replaced them with non-Catholic teachers from the county. Yea, that works. Their standards for holding teachers accountable are non-existent. They waste resources and are more interested in spending money on sports fields or sports scholarships instead of computers for the classroom. Don't go to this school. Too bad really, it's got great families and great kids who deserve so much better.

Over the past few years, things have only gone down hill. My younger son is now 3. Not only did they not have a lead teacher in his room for well over half the year (leaving the adult to child ratio completely unacceptable), but my son continued to get in trouble for things that shouldn't have even been an opportunity for him to have done. For example, TWICE my son got out of the side door of his classroom and ran into the parking lot. Does he know better? Yes. But, he's 3. He was given an opportunity that shouldn't have been there. HE was reprimanded for it. Another time, he climbed on top of stacked nap mats. The stack was higher than I am and I'm 5'6". Again, he knew better, but, 3 year olds climb. He could have fallen and hurt himself. He was punished. Why was he not being watched when any of these things were happening? I emailed the CEO and expressed my concerns and told her honestly... if my child got hurt or worse due to their safety issues, I would own them. She didn't respond to me, but instead immediately called the center and "dismissed" my 3 year old. We've been there for FIVE years (Five EXPENSIVE years)and my son was dismissed because I sent the CEO an email expressing my concerns and she didn't like what I had to say. I do have incident reports and emails to back up all of my claims :) Don't send your child to Growing Room. If you want to keep them safe, send them elsewhere. Am I bitter? Yes. This is my child. But, I'm leaving this review to protect other children. Most of their staff is fake to your face and lazy behind your backs. My little boy goes to a new CDC now and NEVER gets in trouble... everyone there loves him. All it took was getting him away from an unbelievably toxic environment.

I tried to speak to the director about it, to see if this was the way they normally monitor their classrooms, and she hung up on me. My son didn't like it there, and if you are looking for a place that is safe, secure, and well mannered...Do not put them here!
