My daughter goes here, recommended her to me, and even three my grandchildren are also patients. Dr. Xiao and her staff are exceptional at everything they do. Today was the first time Annie cleaned my teeth. I was always extremely satisfied with Andrew cleaning my teeth so was a little apprehensive about having someone else do it. I was immediately impressed with how kind, gentle, patient, thorough, and thoughtful she was. Dr. Xiao came in afterwards and examined me. As always, she went above and beyond my expectations. As I was leaving the office, Adrianna, the receptionist, also outdid herself. She is very warm, caring, and compassionate. This is only the second time I've visited Xiao Dental, Inc., and I'm just as impressed as I was the first time. It was such a great experience that I'm very excited to talk about THIS visit. I had my teeth cleaned. by Andrew S., one of the dental hygienists who works there. I have an extremely low pain tolerance and, with my previous dentist, it was always necessary to numb all of my teeth (with injections of nova cane). It was the only way I could tolerate having my teeth cleaned. Andrew only used a numbing medicine that worked miracles! It was a breeze to get my teeth cleaned and it was the best experience I've ever had. in addition to his expert skills, he is a wealth of information and very knowledgeable when he talks about teeth. He even explained many things that were new to me (I'm soon to be 75) - lol I'm so glad to have been seen by Andrew and look forward to my next teeth cleaning! WARNING! If zero stars was an option that would have been my score. I rarely will take the time to write a review good or bad, but this is one of those occasions that I have to take the time to do it because I do not want anyone else going through the pain, suffering and monetary loss I just experienced. In December 2024, I had two routine fillings on tooth #3 and #4 both advised by Dr. Xiao's office. when a filling is done you are not supposed to have discomfort or pain after a couple of days. I was having tooth sensitivity to cold and hot drinks 2 weeks after the fillings were done and actual pain to the touch getting worse by the day. I made calls to complain, thinking this was not normal (by the way no one ever picks the phone at the office you have to leave messages that not always get returned.) Dr Xiao finally saw me 3 weeks after the original fillings were done and tells me everything looks good, that all she is going to do is apply fluoride on the tooth for the pain??? At the time I didn't know this but this should have been a red flag. Based on some research I have done Increased sensitivity and increased pain on a filling after three weeks should have at least raised some flags on Dr Xiao's radar that an infection is probable and as a precaution she could have giving me a referral for a root canal then, no this did not happen. I went home and with the passing of time things continue to get worse. A week later I called her office again for three days in a row complaining of the pain, I had to leave messages because as usual no one answer the phone. Finally after the 3rd call I get a response from her assistance, giving me an appointment for January 24th to RE-DO THE FILLINGS, this is crazy at this point based on her basic knowledge as a dentist, she should have been referring me to a root canal specialist. But she didn't do that until I showed up for the appointment of the 24th of January. At this point I was in excruciating pain, I was asking her why did she waited for so long to make the decision of referring me to an specialist when she should have arrived to that conclusion at least 2 weeks ago and spared me the pain and suffering? At this point she change her usual pleasant attitude and turned defensive, no show of empathy for what I was going through which was mainly caused by her inability to read the situation correctly. At this point she basically throw me out of her office and told me to find another dentist and walked out of the room. Later she claimed she felt threatened by me for asking questions, that was her excuse for her lack of empathy. None of her referrals were able to see me the same day and I was in a lot of pain at this point. I asked her assistance to ask Dr Xiao for some kind of stronger prescription meds for the pain since her referral will not be able to see me for another four days, She refused to prescribe anything strong and told her assistance that I should get something over the counter like Advil or Motrin. I left, when I got home the pain was so intense that I just start calling endodontic offices in the Tri-valley to see if any of those would see me the same day, after several calls Dublin Endodontics had a cancellation that day and I took that appointment, that was my salvation, they took care of both root canals on the same day and found infections on both tooth, I fully recommend them they were amazing. Finally, after a few days I wrote a four page letter complaint to Dr Xiao's office asking them to take some responsibility for the lack of response and yes negligence for failing to react a lot sooner based on the many calls complaining of pain that should not be present for three weeks after a routine filling. I was asking for Xiao dental to cover my expenses of close to $6000 already caused by them in my view. Dr Xiao refused to admit she did anything wrong, she sent me a check for $236 my co-pay amount of the fillings, which is nothing compared to what this experience is costing me already monetarily without taking into consideration the weeks of pain and suffering. read more

i am so upset, my family has been with Dr Xiao for a very long time and we love her, but her receptionists are just plain rude. Today they attempted to bill my family 250$ for a service i did not receive at their business, and after multiple people stating "no olivia did not receive this service" and after 3 people said no-they attempted to bill my father the 250$. When my mother called trying to explain, (and eventually gotten upset over an issue) asked to speak to Dr Xiao. The receptionist stated; "the doctor doesn't handle the finances." My mother wanted to speak to the doctor over something not involving money. The receptionist even explained to take our business somewhere else because of my mother asking to speak to the dentist. Along with that, whenever i attempt to schedule an appointment with receptionists over scheduling, they make things difficult. Instead of stating "we have openings x, y, and z" it's always having to make a shot in the dark and receiving a response of "no we're not available this time," or "we're busy this day." it feels so hard to talk to their receptionists I also do not appreciate the way they speak to customers. I had asked my mom to leave me at an appointment one day, leaving with my friends later on after it had been wrapped up. A receptionist had decided to point that out over the phone with my mother statin "did you leave your daughter here by herself or did you actually take her home?" because my mother was upset over them attempting to bill me. In other words, the receptionist was accusing my mother of leaving me when i was drugged up. (i was never drugged up.) i love dr Xiao and her service but her receptionists are mean and bitter and make this business unwelcoming. read more

Horrible office. I was a new patient needing my yearly cleaning. Instead of disclosing all their "required/mandatory fees", they went ahead and proceed with the cleaning. After cleaning, they provided me a bill that was not covered by the insurance and asked me to pay. First time I did not think too much about it and paid the fees. I called to scheduled a second yearly cleaning and informed the office that I only want to do whatever the insurance covers. Front desk told me no problem and asked me to come in. I brought up my first time experience and told them I do not want to pay anything. I was told it is required and if I do not want to pay, I would have to go elsewhere. What a waste of time and I am happy to go to elsewhere as there are plenty of dental offices. To have customer pay for fee without disclosing or signing any documentation is absurd. read more

I initially went to Xiao dental because she offered an emotional support dog and if I had to go to the dentist, I may as well get to play with a dog. Happy to report, Vader is super cute, snuggly, and actually makes me look forward to going. More importantly this practice is extremely well run. Their Covid protocols are top notch. They have thought through everything from pens, air filtration, to no crowds in the waiting rooms. I felt extremely safe during all my treatments. They are also super timely, which I REALLY appreciate. Erin is so helpful with scheduling and making sure I get in when i need to. Someone's working on my mouth within 5 minutes of arrival. There is no waiting around... they get you in and out quickly! Erin is also very helpful with clearing things with insurance and going through copays prior to. It makes things much simpler and clear cut. As everyone's noted, all of the staff is so friendly. They make it such a pleasant experience. They remember details and get to know you. I left my previous dentist because she was insensitive to my pain. Samir and the rest of the team are so gentle and make everything as comfortable as possible. Never received better care in my life. They are so sensitive and make sure you feel no discomfort. It's painless. Dr Xiao is great. She walks me through everything and answers all of my questions. I appreciated after my root canals, she called me the next day to see how I felt. Even if I'm there for a follow up, she will still come in and walk through any dental concerns I may have. As much as I wanted to write a new UPDATED rave review, I can't. Due to insurance, It has been 3 years since I've seen Dr. Xiao. I decided to revisit due to billing issues now elsewhere. Good news: My visit was covered 100% except for a $10 out of pocket cost for PPE/Covid costs. Front desk was spot on. She was warm, helpful and understanding when I mentioned my chemical disability and asked questions about fragrances, disinfectants, plug ins, etc at new location. I appreciated her answers by phone and confirmation upon my arrival no candles, scents, etc and the staff in back had been made aware. -- 5 stars Waiting area and front desk are clean, COVID restrictions followed. I did see that you could wait in your car and would suggest that if you don't want to wait with others. It's a very inviting space. -- 5 stars Not so good: It became uncomfortable when my hygienist came to get me from the waiting area. She grabbed a spray bottle and wanted to spray me. I said no, I'd discussed when I made the appointment I had chemical issues and have my own EPA approved sanitizer. The response, "What's wrong with ours?" I explained synthetic fragrances. Also I didn't know what's in the clear bottle w/no label. No word until I got in the dental chair. Smiling and making patients comfortable wasn't her thing. Ok still until I had to defend myself for a disability I can't control. Questions/scolding went on for 20 min --0 stars You brush and floss right? expected questions. Answering led to several more about "but are you doing it this way" or "why.." as if it just couldn't be so or my teeth would be much better. I usually go every 3-4 months after a periodontal deep cleaning about a year and a half ago but this visit was 6 months overdue. My bottom front teeth have movement from adjustments and TMJ mouth appliances. She asked "and you're okay with that amount of movement?" Yes, and both my TMJ dr and Endontist are not concerned. She questioned credentials my TMJ dr and said it wasn't working if I'm still wearing my retainers for 10 years and my teeth are crooked, why wouldn't I just do braces.. it went on and on.. Good Lord! No empathy for the pain or neurological issues because of it.. I don't care if my teeth are a little crowded because of it. My appliances aren't retainers and I don't have the specifics you need. NO, I had braces I don't want them again. She said if I wore THAT retainer for life my teeth wouldn't be crooked. -- 0 stars I just want to go home An xray shows a spot that 2 other dentists and my TMJ DDS, ICCMO specialist have all seen, done sensitivity tests etc but I was talked down to when I mentioned it wasn't a concern by them. Fine, have them send the "write up" to them. I don't even know if there is such a write up. The cleaning done by scaling only was actually much quicker than it usually takes for me as I'm not able to do the ultrasonic with extremely sensitive teeth. She insisted on constantly blowing cold air on my bottom teeth to dry them. Ok, yes you need them dry, but other offices use gauze to wipe them and scale at the same time. The cold gave me pain, a migraine and nausea which left me throwing up until nearly midnight. I wasn't going to mention my low pressure and dizziness with my head too low. I was uncomfortable on so many levels and didn't want 50 more questions about that -- 0 stars for comfort I asked about measurements of my gums. She said nothing above a "4"... excellent after my last visit I with multiple "5"s. She didn't miss a beat to say if I get any worse next time she'd have to use the ultrasonic. Thanks for the threat. It won't make me do "better". I've improved and felt good about my teeth and gums until your comments. Does it hurt your face to smile? --1 pt for answering my question Dr. Xiao came in and spoke from behind where I couldn't see. I sat up to turn around but became dizzy after having my head low for so long. She asked how I'd been the last 3 years, peeked in my mouth and asked if I'd considered gum surgery. Um, no.. she handed me a referral since my roots are showing. Ha, for a minute I thought she meant my hair! BTW you forgot the oral cancer screening I asked for but 90 seconds was up with 30 of them actually looking in my mouth --2 points for actually looking in my mouth. No thank you. This experience is not for me. I wasn't reassured I could have a cleaning by scaling next time. Instead was threatened she would use the ultrasonic if I don't do better. No compassion for a disability I can't help. I don't want braces. I don't want expensive procedures I can't afford especially when the reason is to cut sensitivity that only bothers me when getting my teeth cleaned! At no time did my hygienist or Dr. Xiao ask me what I wanted or needed. No empathy, no understanding. Not a place for me except the front office. Overall - 2 stars due to cleanliness, following COVID guidelines and the front desk warmth and kindness. read more

The dental hygienists there are fine but the insurance and billing is not. First of all, you're charged a mandatory $31 cancer screening fee (regardless of whether you consent or not). That's fine. Second, unlike most dentists I've been to where cleanings are 100% covered, I find myself paying $46 for 2d photo images of my teeth when I go for cleaning. I don't get asked if I'd like this or not. I'm simply given the bill at the end. At other dentists, this is usually offered at no charge. Third, and what motivated me to write this post is, despite confirming my insurance with the office staff I was still slapped with $120 fee. Apparently my usage has been met even though I was told everything was fine. Bill date was 1/18, due date was 2/20 but according to the postmark they only bothered to mail this out on 2/13. I had even gone in for another cleaning since and they never bothered to talk to me about it in person. They even told me one of my insurance covers 2 cleanings and the other covers 3 so I'm all set for another appointment in 4 months (which I have canceled). It is hard to trust a dental practice that slaps you with fees you weren't told about and tells you that things are covered only to come back and tell you they are not. When arriving at the office, you will notice all the precautions posted on the main entrance to the building. I hope I can give one star to this dentist. My son and I with Dr. xiao for almost 5 yrs. Last year we received unreasonable bills, but they fix it . Since it is very close to my home, I didn't change them. This time I received the bill for my son's annual cleaning which insurance should cover. I went to the office to ask the reason. Dr. Xiao said it's my insurance problem (not clarify the waiting period, at least 6 mons). Is it NOT your responsibility to check it? I always called in to check the available time before we came in. This was our first time being able to find a family dentist that would accommodate us & our kids. We were anxious to see how the kids would do not being with a children's dentist. We have a 15 year old & one 8 year old. When we arrived we received a very warm welcome. All Covid safety precautions were carefully taken before & during our appointments. The dental hygienists that we had were Gabby & Andrew. They were very attentive & thorough with their cleanings/information. They were very gentle & made us feel extremely comfortable. I rarely give out five star reviews but Dr Xiao deserves it. Although, based on her reputation I don't think my input will make a difference. I heard about Dr. Xiao through a close friend, and I am very glad that they made the recommendation. I am extremely picky about dentists. Over the last 10 years I have had at least 5 different dentists. In general I tend to get the feeling that sometimes extra work is being done that is not actually necessary. I did not have that feeling with Dr. Xiao. Not only did I find her and her staff to be extremely professional and competent, I also instinctually felt that they were trustworthy. Dr. Xiao has an incredible bedside manner. I have seen her interact with all types of people from little children to adults. She always finds a way to put people at ease. For me she discovered interests that we had in common and we always had nice conversations while she was working on me (as much of a conversation as one can have with their mouth held open). Frankly, I looked forward to dentist visits with Dr. Xiao. From a technical perspective it's worth noting that she has the ability to do ceramic crowns while you wait. I was a little reluctant to try the ceramic crowns. But I can say with confidence that the crowns that Dr. Xiao produces in her office are of extremely high quality, have excellent fit, and are very convenient. My overall experience with her has been excellent, I couldn't give her and her practice a stronger recommendation. If you are looking for a dentist, look no further. In fact, switch from your current dentist to Dr. Xiao, you will be glad that you did. read more

Dr Xiao has a lovely office, it is well lite and inviting. I felt very comfortable, especially from the big smile and warm greeting from Beth, her Office Manager. Which helps to calm the nerves :). Both Dr. Xiao and her Dental Assistant, Angela are very caring,and gentle, plus they really take their time to explain what they are doing so to help you relax for a positive appointment. I am a "nervous nellie" (and that is putting it mildly) when it comes to having dental work/cleanings preformed. So with that said, Dr. Xiao, helped to figure out the best treatment plan for me. I was really impressed by Dr. Xiao's modern office. She really seems to have kept up with new technology. The x-ray machine can swing over towards you so you don't have to move anywhere to get your x-rays done. The x-rays are displayed on a screen by your chair right after they're done so you can take a look yourself. Dr. Xiao was great at explaining what was going on in my mouth, something my former dentists have never even bothered trying. Onto the fun stuff...I'm not particularly scared of dentists or anything but if you are nervous around needles/dental tools, this is the place for you. There's a fountain propped on the wall in front of you, paraffin wax hand treatments while you're in the chair, and the ultimate distraction, she's got these special video glasses you can put on which will show you a movie! read more
