Ximenas is a great little local place to visit. Great food and good prices. The tacos are fresh and tasty and at a little more than a buck a piece, you can get a full belly for 5 or 6 bucks. They do provide to go orders for this crazy time of ours, so if you feel uncomfortable eating in - give these folks a shout to go. The place is small, but i enjoy small places. After lots of hype on the deliciousness we were sorely disappointed. First, the door has a piercing "ding dong" that goes on for the duration of your entering (since all the employees are hiding in the back and no one is in the customer portion of the restaurant). The place is colorful and decent inside with a short menu but a variety of options. They no longer carry anything related to poblanos. For vegetarians, a bean burrito or meatless nachos are the two options. We ordered nachos ($8) and the flautos dinner ($8). The complimentary salsa was bland-diced tomatoes & onions with lime juice & cilantro, the chips were salt-free and almost too thick for comfort. Thought dark brown they were void of taste. The food was perhaps 3 star. A 2 year old with a very loud tablet of beeps, bops, screeches & nicknackpaddywhacks on high volume destroyed our peaceful meal. We went from nice Sunday dinner to bowling alley without moving our seats. Rude parents nor the waitresses suggested it be turned down or off. We were excited to be fed on "real" plates, not plastic or baskets. The two meals came out looking fresh and beautiful. When you cover flautas with lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, crema, you either have to saw cut them or dig for them. It would've been less messy to have them separated from the "stuff". The nachos tasted exactly like the flautas, covered with the same thing. I imagine all meals taste identical in here. The beans were very "liquid" and as bland as the rice. If you like lots of queso these are nice. We used lots of hot sauce to increase the flavor. We also thought $19 for lunch was expensive. Nothing we ate beat Dona Julia's, Abuelo's, Tapatio's, Mega Mercado. We'll leave Ximena's to the Auburndale locals. read more

Found this little spot on Yelp. Had nothing but 5 star ratings (20 ratings so far) so I thought we would try it. Started with free chips and fresh salsa (yum)! Ordered their 3 taco dinner and my wife ordered the giant burrito. The corn tacos were hand made and delicious. My one daughter had the quesadilla and my other daughter had the 3 taco dinner with chicken meat. Everything was fresh. They have a green and red hot sauce option to put on the top. Red had heat but not over powering and it too was fresh. Everyone loved their meal. Wish I could uproot this restaurant and take it home versus the sand and shells that will come back with us as souvenirs. Hope to be back again. read more

I have eaten a lot of Mexican food in my lifetime, and this place was "meh" at best. When we entered (an hour before closing), the hostess rushed up to let us know we had to be out within an hour. I don't know how long she thinks it takes person eat a taco, lol. I found the menu to be extremely limited and this place lacked ambience. This is a small town shop serving up all your favorite Mexican dishes. Good customer service and pricing. Wednesday's are $1.00 traditional (street) taco day! Everything is seasoned well and chips are fried in house which is always a big plus for us. Only down side on the chips & salsa is that only first basket is free but we didn't mind paying for the extra basket since the chips were delicious. Will definitely be returning. read more

Been here a number of times. The traditional tacos are very good and have a large assortment of mean options. I enjoy the chips and salsa here very much. The chips are the crunchiest I've had anywhere, but I really like that. Everything I've had here is good, but my go to options are the traditional tacos - often get beef, chicken and pork ones. The meat is well seasoned and they come with cilantro and grilled onions. Each taco has multiple little tortillas, which is super cool. And limes to season with - this makes it. Super great when they have $1 tacos. The other thing I live here is the chimichanga. One of the best anywhere, at least for me. Very crispy on the outside and the chicken inside is great. Can't miss. Can't speak to the drink selection, as I usually get water with lime. They keep the chips coming, but your food comes out very fast, so you won't get too full too fast on the chips. Lunch hour in Auburndale can be a chore sometimes... I don't pack a lunch so I have many choices! this is 5 -7 min drive off Recker Hwy, so it's close. This was our favorite go to spot for great authentic Mexican food in the Lakeland area. However the last 3 times over the past month the service and overall food was not great. The chicken enchiladas and the refried beans were cold; not kinda warm but cold and server never asked to refills our drinks or checked how things tasted. We had to get up and inform the waitress but they did nothing about it. Also, the other cashier / waitress had a real attitude problem and basically told us to leave since they wanted to close in 15 minutes. Wow what a great way to ruin your business with such poor customer service. Hopefully they can correct the issues and get back to greatness. read more

Outstanding! This place is the real deal. $1 tacos on Mondays! I have never had better Mexican food in my life! I got three tacos, Al Pastor, chicken, and steak. They were great. I got rice and beans on the side, they came in a bowl and put all of the rice and beans I've ever eaten before to shame! Incredibly flavorful. The tortillas are homemade and delicious by themselves. The place looks and feels authentic and the food is pretty good and well-priced. On the flip side, service was very slow and, although never rude, they also weren't very affable. Among other things, we ordered beef soup. They said they didn't have any, but they had chicken soup. By the time our food was served almost 30 minutes later, they told us they didn't have any chicken soup either, that they don't even serve it on Mondays.
