    premium beef roodle

Service is quick usually their digital menu and ordering system. Got the roodle with premium beef which was delicious. the broth is yummy! friendly staff. devil chicken is so tasty with a kick that gets spicier every time you eat it. Also, the fried tofu is bomb!

So I gotta say it's got a really nice interior and the service was friendly and fast. It's also in a huge strip mall so there's plenty of parking. We got the devil chicken and the wagyu sets. The devil chicken was spicy but quite small. So the way you eat this is to add the meats first into the hot pot then the vegetables then the noodles. You should let it all steep for a while so the flavors can add to the soup flavor. The noodles were quite good but the add-ins were meager. Maybe if the little plates were piled up it would be better. I was full when I left but mostly full of noodles. So for the $$ not worth it. I pay the same price for an AYCE hot pot spot.

Xishang Roodle: 8/10 Aesthetic & Ambiance: 8/10 Cute little roodle or rice-noodle shop in a Santa Ana plaza. Ambiance is families and groups of friends. Service: 8/10 Very quick and friendly, they try to help instruct you how to create the dish if it's your first time. Food: Original Roodle: 8/10 - Great portion of broth, noodles, and accoutrements. The broth was a heartier pork broth with plenty of seasoning and additions.

Aesthetically pleasing set up of noodle dishes and worth a visit. Took awhile, but my friend and I realized that ROODLE = RICE + NOODLE. Genius. We came here at the start of the dinner rush on a weekend and only had to wait a little bit before getting seated but it was a full house and we can see the people waiting in the front. So keep this in mind! There's lore behind this dish. With great romantic devotion, a scholar's wife would bring him food, and wanting to keep it warm longer, she would prepare the hot soup with oil on top and the ingredients to the side. I'm a big fan of "DIY" dishes or dishes where you follow a ritual or set of steps to enjoy the food. And with the Bridge Rice Noodles, there are steps to enjoy the dish how it was originally intended. You separate the quail egg yolk and place it in the hot soup, separating it from the whites, prepare the slices of protein by coating them in the whites, dipping the meats into the broth to simmer and enhance the flavors and then dumping all of the prepared ingredients into the broth. I love spicy so I dumped a lot of chili oil in it. We got the: 1) Coconut Bomb: -Unique eye catching drink since it comes in a tin mug. -It's an iced coconut drink with some sugar toast rusk dipped inside. Definitely more of a dessert to me than anything, but it was enjoyable. There's boba at the bottom of the cup, some coconut shavings too, so it's a very textured drink and it's subtle and light. Perfect for those not too sweet folks out there. 2) Fiery Tomato Soup Base - Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle: -I love tomato broth and this was delicious. Slightly sweet, but deliciously tangy with a mix of the umami chicken flavor. Delicious on a cold night and I love that the eater can control how to and when to eat the ingredients. -Take pics of the set up before eating, all of the small dishes and the broth bowl and roodle bowl makes it look like a fancy meal set before a high ranking government official, not a lowly office worker like me. -Filling and delicious and a hearty helping of noodles to enjoy with the broth. A wide array of ingredients so that you don't get tired of what you're eating (think of it as a portion controlled taster shabu shabu if that makes sense). -My favorite ingredients was the bean curd and crispy pork. My friend got the Original Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle. Broth is deliciously rich but not too heavy. Good chicken flavor but without that chicken-y taste if that makes sense. Make sure when you're slurping the noodles not to get it on your clothes! Would love to come back here again one day.

Love coming to Xishang Rice Noodles after a long day of shopping! Their soup is always the most authentic--no artificial additives, no MSG. The traditional rice noodle broth is light and clean, so even drinking the soup never leaves me thirsty. I enjoy the DIY experience with the 9 small side dishes that you cook yourself in the broth. The new passion fruit rice noodles, are especially appetizing--you can even see real passion fruit seeds in it. A must-try for a fresh and healthy meal!

This place has been on my list for a very long time and I finally went on a cold soup season day. I actually didn't understand how to eat it was asking the worker. I don't she spoke much English but it was okay. She asked and gestured to me if she could put it in and I said yes and she then puts all the ingredients in all at once including the giant pot of noodles I was not ready for. I'm not an expert but I do feel like it should be enjoyed slower than that. If it was going to all go inside at once, then everything on the side was just for an aesthetic then? The tomato broth was savory and light but the original broth was a little too light. I already think I like my soup light so this might be extra light to some. Some of the sides kinda became mystery sides because I forgot what the server put in first and it wasn't too distinctive. I did really like the fired pork ribs- very savory and crispy. Overall, I just think this place isn't my cup of tea but still a fun try.

What I Ordered: * complimentary braised potato and cold wood ear side dishes * BomBom Potato appetizer (every fry was evenly caramelized with seasoning, would recommend!) * Old Fashion Noodle (dry) * Wagyu Beef Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodle (soup) * Yunnan cuisine * crossing-the-bridge noodle is a dish where a large bowl of hearty broth is served with rice noodle and customizable, thinly-sliced raw ingredients on the side. it can be enjoyed right after each item is added into the piping-hot soup! (super fun dining experience and highly recommend) * quick service 8.5/10

First time here and had a great experience. I got the Tomato Soup Base Crossing and it had a strong flavor without the tomato being too overpowering. The toppings come on the side which makes it a fun dining experience as well. The portions were generous as the noodles came in a separate small pot. Servers were also very friendly, explaining how the menu and meals worked as it was my first time here. Very clean restaurant as well!

Overall enjoyed the flavor profile of the crossing the bridge rice noodle. I chose to get the fiery tomato soup, which was not that spicy actually and had a nice rich tomato flavor. I may have butchered the way you are supposed to eat this dish but make sure to follow the instructions if you want an optimal eating experience! The service was just ok. We basically just got seated by the staff and were brought water. Since there is a QR code at the table. You basically order without actually speaking to anyone. My friend had to flag down the staff a few times when she needed something as they didn't check in with us that often. Also at the end of your meal you could pay via the tab you had opened when you ordered your food. The food was brought out very quickly. As part of the experience is that the soup was hot enough to cook the thinly sliced pieces of meat. My friend got dried noodles that took a little longer to prepare but wasn't too bad. The inside of the restaurant was relatively clean. There were decent amount of tables and it wasn't too long of a wait to get a seat on a weekend near lunch time. There is a lot of parking in the plaza so looking for a spot wasn't an issue.

Great taste of beautiful Yunnan Province Chinese cuisine. The Original Roodle noodle soup has real depth and smooth flavor and taste with a lovely aroma to satisfy your taste buds. The pig trotter and pork spare ribs add an additional dimension to the overall experience. Great work guys and good service too. Nice clean modern Chinese design and excellent layout of restaurant for a small family restaurant. Perfect for the family holiday weekend get together. Enjoy your passion today.

I'm all about new experiences and this place was unique and appetizing! Scan the QR code for the menu. All the dishes seem delicious, but I had to choose the popular crossing-the-bridge rice noodle (Roodle) with tomato soup. It was presented very well, and allows people to be interactive by customizing ur bowl to your liking by adding whatever you want to your soup base. It didn't have directions on how to eat it but the waiter explained it as he brought it out. As he suggested, cook the meat first, throw all the ingredients provided and then noodles into the hot ceramic bowl. You may dip the meat in the raw quail egg too, but I just dumped the eggs in. I chose the tomato broth since the original looked too plain. It's rich in flavor and ended up being a huge portion with everything added in. Very good and satisfying! Cool traditional Chinese Yunnan style food, check it out !

Came in Sunday at 12pm and it was completely empty. Surprised! $20 for a large bowl of ok tasting noodles my tofu noodles didn't taste the same. They tasted fine, but they weren't magical like the first time. I also don't recall the noodles being served hot? Don't know if I'd come back since it didn't hit like the first time. AC was on, didn't get checked on from the server, but I got what I requested for (extra napkins). The water they serve is room temp, not that appealing for an 80f day

Interesting, worth the hype? Worth trying, on the fence about repeating. Probably will I guess! I would put it at 4.2 The spicy beef noodle soup was decently mild, maybe a medium. Flavor was good, beef chunks OK, repeat? Hm. It's unique and worth sharing for their version of BNS. The soup is unique and the different garnishes, like the green onion and crunchy pieces are very good. You're not getting much meat and a ton of noodle, so just be aware of that. Order and Pay on the table all using your phone. Don't wait for them to bring the check. Lots of chinese clientele coming in.

The restaurant itself is a bit on the small side so you'll be close to your neighbors not that it was an issue personally. My buddy and I ordered our items and shared with each other for a good full experience. We got the three-in-one noodles medium heat and the Ma Hu Beef noodles with mild heat alongside the cucumbers with medium heat as an appetizer. Cucumbers were very fresh! However, they really were just cucumbers with a little heat on them so they weren't anything too special. Once the main entrees came in, I couldn't stop myself from digging in! I forgot to take a picture until after some damage was done to our meals. Three-in-one was so flavorful and sweet with the noodles becoming incredibly soft after having mixed it all together. The star of the show for me though was the Ma Hu Beef noodles. The beef was remarkably tender and delicious and the noodles had a firmer texture that complimented with the flavors. Oddly enough, the mild heat on the Ma Hu Beef was spicier than the medium heat three-in-one! If you find yourself in the mood for Biangbiang noodles, this is definitely the spot to go to. On a side unrelated note about the parking which did not influence my review; the parking here is rough. It's consistently packed so watch out for that. There is a structure across the street that allows parking for the food court. I parked in the structure but I had a bad experience because since it's also parking for the residents above, the gate was closed on us after 8pm. I had to wait for a vehicle to come out and open the gate for not only just me but for multiple other people that had also parked in the structure!Just something to keep in mind. Hopefully that doesn't continue being an issue for future guests.

Leaving this review after an almost bad experience to help the restaurant or anyone else that may…read morehave eaten here today. 5 stars for fixing the problem immediately for us. We've been here several times before and what keeps us coming back is the quality of the food. Today, they had a new chef cook our food and it was terrible. Green beans were extremely sour (way way too much vinegar). Mapo Tofu had a ton of oil but not enough sauce, so it was just flavorless except the oil. The fried pork chop was over fried where some pieces you can't even bite through. The rice had too much water in it and was mushy. I rarely return food but this time it was so bad we had to let them know. We returned all of our dishes back to them. They let us know there was a new chef today, and they would remake all the dishes for us with the original chef. The replacement dishes were just as good as all our previous visits and it was excellent again! So thanks to the staff for fixing the problem. I'm not sure if they are training a new chef to take over, or as a backup, but they need to be careful as serving bad quality food like that would drive most people to never come back. We knew the food was good from prior experience, so we knew we could ask why the food quality changed. For first time customers, or those that may have ordered to go - if you had bad food today, it may have been a fluke due to the new chef. Service however was a amazing as usual. For all our visits including today, the staff has been kind and always looking for ways to help out and make sure we were having a good experience. So besides the food being good, I would say excellent service is also huge plus here. Don't be fooled with the automated ordering and robot delivering the food into thinking there is no service. The people behind the counter are awesome! Hope management takes care of this new chef issue quickly since their food quality is the main reason people come here. There was a night and day difference between the original food we got today, and the replacement!

It had been a couple of months since we were last there and my parents and my daughter had been asking to go back and were really looking forward to eating there. However, we were so disappointed when we went back 2 weeks ago! The menu changed a bit, which was fine, and all our usual dishes were still there. We did notice that the cooks have changed and the original Cantonese chef was not there. I think the kitchen staff really changed how the flavors of the dishes for the worst. My 7yo daughter used to love their shrimp fried rice, but as soon as the fried rice came out, the first thing she said was "how come it looks so different from before." Not only did it look different, it was BURNT. It was like they fried the rice in a burnt wok so every grain of rice was coated in tiny black burnt bits. It was essentially inedible. They also just topped the rice with some tastless blanched shrimp instead of actually stir frying the shrimp into the rice. The green onion pancake used to be flakey with layers and expectedly oily for this dish, but the pancake we got this time was essentially a tasteless tortilla. It literally looked and tasted like a tortilla. No layers, flakes or oil at all and was the worst green onion pancake I've ever had anywhere. The fish with black bean sauce was acceptable, but it was definitely not the same. It tasted more like American Chinese flavors instead of the previous authentic Cantonese flavors. The only dish that I thought was still good was the stir fried eggplants, although my parents said it also tasted more Americanized. We are so sad that the food here has changed so much and it was one of the rare places my Cantonese dad actually said tasted authentically Cantonese in the area. The restaurant was full during our latest vist but we did notice that 90% of the diners and people ordering take-out were non-Asians. When we came previously, there was a good mix of Asian and non-Asian diners, so it seems like the clientele have shifted, which might explain the flavor changes or vice versa. The staff is still very nice and friendly, but it seems like the robot server has been laid off. I don't think we will be coming back again unfortunately as the food is no longer what we loved before. However, they seemed to still be doing well so others must still like it.

We waited one hour on my visit, but that is to be expected as the restaurant is quite small. Beef Rolls (5/5): We got two orders of these, and it was our favorite for a reason. Crispy and flaky wrap on the outside and it was packed with flavor. It was very satisfying to eat! Scallion Pancakes (3.5/5): They were plain but that is to be expected, I didn't taste much scallion. It needed the sauce of course! Spicy Wontons (4/5): These are solid and the chili oil does pack a lot of heat. I would say they are on the spicier side, just wish there was a little more depth to it. Seven Grams XLB (4/5): Juicy and flavorful! Not the absolute best I've had, but still worth ordering. Golden Beef Noodle Soup (5/5): This bowl right here was amazing. Green leafy kale paired with the extra hearty soup was what made this bowl a standout dish for me. 100% would order this alone! Mapo Tofu (5/5): Yummy silky tofu cubes with the minced meat sauce were delicious in every bite! I had no other complaints, but this dish gets very filling easily. Seriously, this place is one of my favorite places in Tustin. The service one inside is efficient, and the ambience is a bit noisy and packed, but this place is popular for a reason. I'll definitely revisit this spot when I get the chance.

Seating consider is around 10 tables plus hjgh top stools, so if you are a large group the wait can be long. We stopped by yesterday to try out some new items, which were a mixed bag. First the Cheese Chicken Roll was surprisingly good. Imagine the Beef Roll and swap things around to get something off of a fancy KFC menu. It features a crispy flaky tortilla outside, wrapped around copious chicken (katsu texture), some lettuce for a crunch, some melted cheese, and then a spicy Thousand-Island type dressing. It all pairs well, has a good chicken portion, and texture variation too. My only desire would be for slightly more lettuce and slightly less cheese, otherwise perfect. Crispy Lotus Root Fries are solid, but not a replacement for typical potato fries. The lotus version was not as crispy or crunchy, but would be an Asian version. It comes with ketchup and the same spicy thousand island dressing as the chicken roll. Lastly we were let down by the Pan Fried Shrimp&Chicken Dumplings (Whole Wheat). The whole wheat wrapping had a very slight texture difference, not as chewy as the typical dumpling wrapping. But the inside was the main focus. It seemed like it was a fishball inside, a homogenous color and texture and more reminiscent of fish than of shrimp. It's possible we got the wrong dumpling. Based on this experience we would not order it again. Wheat wrapping would be fine, but the shrimp/chicken filling would be a no.

This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

Tan Cang Newport Seafood has been around a few decades. We came here a few times many years ago…read morewhen there was a travel agency next-door. Our family joked around and would say let's go to the travel agency restaurant when we had a craving for Chinese/Vietnamese type of food. I recall the food back then was extra tasty and memorable, leaving me wanting to return again and again. However, my recent lunch outing with my girlfriends changed my mind. Our servers were attentive and friendly. I think it helped that my friend was a familiar customer. We came on a Monday afternoon around 11:30 and It was early enough where parking was still available. We ordered the classic dishes, including salt and pepper fried pork chopsand salt and pepper fried shrimp, but the taste this time around left a lot to be desired. These two dishes lacked the crunchiness and flavors that these fried entrees are supposed to showcase. We found the pork chops to be dry and tough, as if it was prepared a while ago and sitting out for some time before it made its way to our table. The shrimp was not impressive either. At least the shaking beef or bo luc lac was good. The beef chunks were tender, and the flavors were on point. Bonus points for the broth that is complimentary during lunch. Also the complimentary orange slices were a nice touch to end our meal. We'd still return for the lobster and noodle when the occasion comes up.

Ordered takeout for lunch over the weekend and was very satisfied!…read more We ordered: -spicy chili oil wontons -scallion pancakes and beef roll -pan fried buns -xiao long bao -green beans -cucumber salad -popcorn chicken Everything was delicious! The beef with the scallion pancakes was sooo tender. The cucumber salad was extra refreshing with the perfect balance of savory and tangy. You also can't ever go wrong with spicy wontons, pan fried buns, popcorn chickens, or braised green beans. Yum! Huge bonus: the restaurant is directly connected to Ben Gong's Tea. Loooove the osmanthus milk tea! I'd recommend subbing out the crystal boba and rice with regular boba and tea cubes.

Mine and my bf's go to are the dry fried green beans, mapo tofu, Chong Qing Spicy Chicken, and Yang Chow fried rice. These are more than enough for two people and we always have leftovers to take home. The mapo tofu pairs soooo well with the fried rice and my bf loves the chicken. Green beans are flavorful and crispy as well! Hot and sour soup is HUGE. They aren't consistent in making this because some days it's the perfect balance of tangy and spicy flavor, but other times its tooooo sour. The restaurant is very spacious. I love that you can just order via QR (on your phone).

We shared my 2 favorite items: Mongolian Trio and Walnut Shrimp. The quality of the food here has been consistent since day 1. This place has great deals and happens to be next to one of my fav Japanese restaurants too! We started with egg drop soup and it was thick and hearty, added a little soy and spice to it and it was great, the schezwan wontons were amazing as well and had an interesting spice chili sauce to them which was great (I used the leftover chili sauce to add to my other food as well). The beef and broccoli had a lot of flavor but was my least fav of everything we ordered. Not bad but typical dish. The fried rice was cooked fine and I liked the veggies they included, it had nice taste and complimented the food as well. The chow mein was delicious and had great flavor and fresh ingredients too. Service was quick and excellent. The restaurant is pretty small so any party over 4 will need to combine tables which is what we did but it worked out. This may just have became one of my new fave Chinese places!

This is a chain and I've been to the ones in LA and always enjoyed the food there. I was happy to see one open up in the OC. The interior is very unassuming and is next to a bulk sized grocery store for Asian food. The signs are almost hidden from the front so you wouldn't know to look for it unless you read these reviews first! We tried a variety of items: Shrimp egg rolls, fish with seaweed, fried pork buns, Shanghai rice cakes, and salt and pepper pork. All the items were really tasty except for the fried pork buns - don't get those. The bun part was very mushy and you didn't get any soup inside. The fish with seaweed and salt and pepper pork chops were excellent. Very flavorful and not too salty. I would definitely get those again. The Shanghai style rice cakes are also very good, nice and chewy, definitely cooked correctly. And you can't go wrong with the shrimp egg rolls - they came with large chunks of shrimp which was nice. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous compared to what you would find in Irvine for similar quality. I would come back!
