I signed up to the 1 month special for $49 aud just to see what the ruckus was about and to try out a few types of classes and studios I had heard about (the ones that don't always offer free trial or are quite expensive for 1 off goes). The sign up step is easy and the team were helpful introducing the membership at the recent Yelp Rooftop event. So how does it work? You log in online (no app yet) and you can book up to 4 classes in the upcoming week. You can filter classes by type, time, location or intensity. So far I've tried 4 classes in 3 days and the classes are ones that are not offered at my local gym - Barre, Reformer pilates, Core + Hot pilates and I am trying another studio tonight. Sounds great right?! Well yes and no - there are conditions you see... -You can only go to 1 studio 3 x per month (including franchises) -If you don't show or you forget to cancel a class you have booked in you get punished (fair enough, it is taking other people's spots) -Some areas do not have a lot of classes but they seem to be expanding their offering all the time -You can cancel anytime by emailing them a few days before your next billing The website is fairly easy to use, I do wish they had an app to book and also a search function using a map would be handy too. Perhaps each member can also have a few strikes before being charged for a no show or late cancellation as emergencies do happen. The current monthly rate is $99 after your first month which is a bit high for me but I am enjoying the freedom of being able to go try new classes especially as I work in different areas during the week. It will be a tough decision though to jump to a dearer membership for my wallet but my mind and body are pretty happy having a wider selection of classes to fit around work!

Though the website says otherwise, socks were not required (I prefer barre in bare feet when it's done on wood floor as it is here). Barre Body bills this class as "...strong and dynamic." I'd say I found that to be true. If you've done Dailey Method, Pure Barre or Bar Method, you'll feel right at home. And if you've never done barre before but have done yoga and/or pilates, you'll do fine too. This is a small studio with no lobby so you probably don't want to rock up more than 10 minutes prior to class.

It's a serene environment to work out and it's nicely located to public transport for easy access. The classes themselves are varied, with different styles and intensities available depending on your ability and mood. Like my experiences in Melbourne, the teacher at my Surry Hills class was absolutely delightful and had a terrific way of leading the class and encouraging everyone.

I took an 08:00 mixed levels class (drop ins are $19; your first month is $49 unlimited) on Saturday morning lead by Rosh. Including myself, the class had seven students so there was no jostling for space among us. The class was a very nice way to start the day. For the most part vinyasas were optional and Rosh - who trained in Anusara - did a great job of building up to an advanced posture (if you dig that sort of journey you will enjoy her teaching).

I'd always pass by it and seen the upstairs from Oxford Street opposite the road. But it was only a few months ago that I came here thanks to a friend who recommended that I try it out. Luckily, during that time, a promo was running that I took advantage of and afterwards, I renewed because Preshana is truly something special. I can honestly say that it's changed my life for the better through the knowledgeable and extraordinary instructors who will challenge you. Yoga is not just physical, it's a whole package: mind, body, and spirit and that's the very reason why I love it! It's not always easy but if you're open to it, this is a space that cultivates change and evokes you to dig deep within yourself and grow from it. Heart Glow by Kelli and Release & Re-align (and other classes) by Vanessa are the ones I highly frequent and recommend. Their style of teaching is different from one another but I adore their individual styles because it resonates with me. But give the other classes and instructors a go. Preshana Yoga is a down-to-earth studio and definitely something I recommend. LOVE | PEACE | BLISS = that's Preshana Yoga for you. Namaste!

The studio itself is a bit dark and mysterious looking, and it "hums." I took a Mellow Hum class, which was a yin-esque class where the room was heated to 27 degrees. You leave your shoes on that second floor but the studio is on the 3rd. This is a very large studio that can accommodate up to 100 students. There is a large community area with couches and such in the lobby. They sell or rent items such as: towels, mats, water, retail clothing, etc. There are separate changing rooms for men & women however the shower stalls are outside of this area so bring what you need to be able to shower in one location and dress in the other. They provide hair dryers, plastic bags for wet clothing, etc. If you want a lock for you locker, they just need something like an ID to hold as collateral for the usage. They only offer the 90 minute Bikram Yoga unfortunately. The heating system in the room is adequate and the instructors do occasionally open the doors to ventilate. The students here are friendly. You can see that most of them have been practicing for awhile but there are new students too, it's a good mix. The only thing I didn't like about the room is the columns in the middle and the dreary curtains. I think it would be nice to have natural light coming in.
