SCAM ALERT!! Raised rent $150 a year first payment claiming they miscalculated. Refused to honor the contract I signed.

(Now four years after I wrote this review in 2015 the manager recently contacted me to let me know that they have fixed many of the issues that earned it a two star review from me. I have bumped my rating up to 3 stars mostly because they installed an elevator so you won't have to haul boxes up and down stairs like I did). HOURS - Have you looked at their site? Did you notice how they don't post their hours prominently? That's because it closes at 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 5 p.m. (FIVE!) on weekends. (edit: the manager says that after hours access may be possible) GETTING WET - There is a nice little garden in the front of the building. I began to resent that garden after the time that I arrived hauling a heavy suitcase and found that a sprinkler had been setup spraying across the only ramp up to the main entrance, forcing me to get soaked on my way in. (Did I mention that they don't care about their customers, or at least not as much as their sunflowers?) PARTIES - I once had problems accessing my unit because access to the storage units was going to be cut off early that night because there was going to be some kind of political gala held in the garage area of the building. (Why?!) Shamefully, there was no email warning about this. (The manager says that although they continue to host parties here - something you don't have to worry about at most STORAGE FACILITIES - that customers will be warned about early closures). DRIVING - If you are driving there from the north, it is very difficult to turn into their parking lot. Finally, those storage units aren't sealed at the top, so anyone with a ladder could easily access the contents of your unit. read more

Had a really bad experience with "XYZ Storage." Am too angry (about it) at the moment to describe how bad it was; the details of how stupid, I was made to feel-- upshot is, am paying for $100.00 + for a unit that I am not using. Booked for an advanced date accidentally; and when I hadn't moved in, even for a few days, was not contacted to ask: "hey, you haven't moved in? Did you make a mistake booking this on the website, for example? How can we help you ?" No. Instead, am charged (for empty space, in perpetuity, even ? ! ?). What I would have expected is to be followed up. Or at the very least, not what happened next. Which is that: when I spoke to customer service: I was given a laundry list of excuses. There were no elevators to get to my compact locker that I have to get my bins of personal possessions to clean out my locker. I had arrived there 30 minutes before closing that I asked them if they could give me more time to get my possessions through the stairs by myself. Some of the staff mostly custodian staff were rushed me to get all my possessions out before the storage room closing that I almost hurt my back and I was sweating like crazy with no air conditioning provided. Luckily I got all my possessions out into my small car just a few minutes after closing about 10 minutes that I felt injured on my back with no elevator were provided. If anyone want to rent a compact locker at this location, good luck! You will have carrying your possessions up and down on these stairs with NO HELP. No Elevator there are provided with heavy storage rent fees every month. Other locations like in Toronto West were very good and reasonable a couple years ago but I wouldn't recommended this location (Leaside) at all. read more

Sandhu Rajandeep Singh, one of their drivers hit my car in the garage on July 12, 2018. When I asked for his insurance, the driver called his manager, Nicole Flint which assured me that she was going to send me a copy of the insurance. After exchanging emails and text messages with Nicole, the manager she asked me to email them a copy of the estimate for car repairs and assured that cheque will be mailed to me within ten (10) business days. A As of today, Oct. 21st, 2019 the cheque was not received and Nicole didn't return any of my calls. Great experience! The staff here are knowledgeable and happy to help. There is a clean nice washroom and water cooler, a pop machine as well. They are also a U haul location and so can help you with arranging most aspects of a move. They also have the benefit of indoor loading and unloading as long as you don't have a huge truck. Facility is very secure. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the upstairs storages have no elevator or ramp. However they are very affordable units. read more

I went this place to rent a U haul truck. After lining up behind other customers, they noticed me waiting and in 30sec. got to start booking. I left email and cell phone number, after a couple of hours email confirmation. I read reviews of other horror stories, when on your day of moving the truck is not available; so it seems too easy here, so I checked twice if everything is OK with my booked date, the staff confirmed. Still a bit skeptical, on my booked date I showed up (20 min late) and everything went smoothly, I got the U haul truck that I asked for. The charges were less than what they estimated initially, ............so I am really happy with this place, and would use it again. I actually used their U haul trucks for my friends moving several times, but I never booked or payed, just drove their rental U haul trucks. Never a problem with bookings. Best self-storage I've used by far. I've had to use self-storage for various reasons, but usually storing furniture before a move, after a move, in between moves. I've used Yellow and StorageMart, and was always concerned about security, and could visibly see rat droppings and broken glass in the hallways. These people know what they're doing. Employees actually seem to like working there. The facilities are sqeaky clean, you can drive through usually really close to your storage unit. It's is temperature controlled and disinfected. It was also cheaper than the crappier alternatives. And forget about stupid rules regarding pre-payments, if you want to empty your unit today, you only pay until today, not the whole month. read more

Recently had my storage unit broken into and had many items stolen. Found out there have been several breakin and policy have been notified but are not able to assist much. Facilitiy does not monitor cameras 24 / 7 as advertize and survillance is mininal. There are very few staff on site. There is easy access for those that do not long and therefore can enter at any time and have access many units. Warning, if you wish to hire this facility I would not recommend it all. Staff have no idea where management is and they are not helpful at all. Very disappointed and distrubing. Could it have been an inside off. read more

After waiting for the manager for an hour so they could confirm the space that they said they had for me the day before, the desk clerk helped 3 other people and had me wait another 10 minutes after the call from the manager only to tell me that there was only a unit available on the second floor, and there is NO elevator. Avoid XYZ at all costs. Storing my stuff here whilst in the middle of a move has been a truly horrible experience and I do not recommend it. It took over a month of having my stuff in storage before I received an (incorrect) lease. Repeatedly I was told someone would call me back when I called in (or emailed) to inquire about any updates to my case and nobody ever did. At the same time, I was also contacted repeatedly by one woman with the same questions (that I answered, three separate times) but then still they were somehow never able to draw up the appropriate lease (ever since their system crashed on my move-in day - a coincidence/ accident - they seemed to struggle for over a month). After finally signing a slightly incorrect but passable lease (they stated an incorrect move-in date for me) with them, they have proceeded to charge my account twice in the span of a week with no explanation. This is after guaranteeing to me that the credit card information I provided to them would be used just the once and then deleted from their files. This experience has been taxing, frustrating, and horrible. I still do not have a reply on why they have charged me twice. I should not have to be in constant contact with my storage facility, having new problems that I must try to fix weekly (even though I haven't tried to access my stuff even once). I strongly recommend never using their storage facilities: XYZ is horrible. All but one of the customer service representatives that I have dealt with haven't followed through with what they have said they would do - often I never heard from them again. The only helpful customer service rep I have encountered is called Sarah. TLDR: they have awful customer service and they sent me an incorrect lease. It took them a month to send me an access code so that I could get to my own stuff. They then charged my credit card twice in the span of a week without my permission, and I cannot currently reach them to receive an answer on WHY or how they plan to reverse the charges. Whenever I try to contact them, I never get the answers that I am looking for/ a finalized solution to a problem. I have spoken with them 15+ times in the past 6 weeks and there are still problems that need to be resolved. All to rent a small storage locker. I understand that working in customer service at a storage facility may not be the best or most rewarding job, but the customer service I have received has been beyond horrible. This is a horrible company and I am ending my contract with them immediately. There must be better storage options available. read more

Easily the absolute worst customer 'service' I've ever seen. It was almost like they were going out of their way to be as least helpful and rude as possible when I tried to rent a cargo van. If you need storage or a rental truck, and you live in the area, you'll need to use these guys but be prepared for SLOW service, from unhelpful people who seem to have no idea what they're doing. This company is terrible. I took my stuff out of storage Oct 30 at which point I was charged the $169 fee to deliver the units to my new address... Then comes Nov 2nd and I'm charged for the units that are not there. To make matters worst I'm charged TWICE!!! Trying to get this issue resolved is proving difficult. They don't seem to realize how a charge $700+ is impacting me. The customer service is horrible; I'm constantly explaining my situation because they don't make notes. After I returned a rental truck and filled the gas to the level at which I received it (standard contract terms) I was charged an extra $35 for gas I had already paid for myself at the gas station. The woman at the desk said the charge would be reversed after I complained, but it was a lie and the charge was not withdrawn. Beware their gas charges! read more

I received a quote from for pickup, moving and storage and the charges were exactly as specified. I was impressed and trusted the team and didn't bother going through a quote process for the drop off. I wish I did since the moving costs were THREE TIMES what I paid for the first time around. When I called to inquire they told me that the program has changed and was on the hook. To add insult to injury my rather expensive leather Natuzzi sofa was damaged while in storage and I was told that I had to go directly to the moving service that they subcontract to to make a claim for the damage. I do trust the team at Self-Storage, just make sure you get quotes for everything or you may be left with unexpected fees charged on your visa like me. read more

Rented a uhaul trailer here one time, a couple of weeks ago. everything went pretty smoothly, a bit of a wait but nothing terrible. my biggest complaint was the booking time. there were only 2 choices, 10am or 11am. I had chosen 10am, and so when I arrived there was a line-up of other 10am-ers. I would recommend the appt. times be spread out, because I guess by 10:30am every one was taken care of, and the next line-up would form about 11am. nobody really likes to wait. also, I really wanted to pick the trailer up earlier, and even though this location opens at 9am, I could not book until 10am. I even called this location, and was told 10 am was the earliest booking they took. so, when I needed a trailer again, last weekend, I ended up using a different location, because they would take a 9am reservation. oh well. read more

This is a great storage facility, and they claim it is heated - but it is not. I was helping a friend re-organize her storage unit and we nearly froze. It was -13 Celcius inside the building, and plastic boxes were brittle as a result. A few days earlier it was -8 Celcius in there. False advertising - people would choose this facility thinking it was heated. My friend says it is extremely hot in there in the summer - to the point you can't work. read more

My experience at All Canadian Self Storage was truly beyond expectation. As someone in need of a storage urgently for the first time, I booked it over the phone without seeing the facility. Friendly staff answered all my questions and put my mind to ease. On the moving day, OpenStreet Toronto closed all the streets around me and had delayed my movers for about 2 hours and when we arrived at the facility, it was past closing time. However one staff Natalie Mesquita stayed behind to assist with such ease and joy coming from a place of service that we don't see or experience in today's world. I want to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude for the excellent customer service which I had received from Nathalie.
