Asked Security for a creepy man to leave and nothing happened. I went to Yab to dance with friends but the men there were pushy. I would not recommend women to go here any day of the night. There was a man who was making me and a friend uncomfortable. I notified the security and nothing happened with the first. I let two other security guards know and they got him but let him back in. Literally one of the worst nightclubs I have ever been to! Not only did they not let anyone dance until about 1 AM because of some dancers they hired to break dance to music literally from LA and SF in California, but they were extremely aggressive and homophobic. I am from California, how are you going to play our music, but not accept somone literally from that culture (I am queer). If you can't accept people from where the music comes from, then you don't deserve to play it at all! They allowed me to enter with a regular shirt when I was more "masc" presenting, but the minute I went to the bathroom to change and tie up my shirt... everything changed. The bouncers and security told me I had to leave because my stomach was showing, so I refused and said to fuck off (so many women wearing less than me). They followed my friends and I the entire night trying to intimidate me and make me feel uncomfortable. Eventually I was near the exit and two of them showed up out of nowhere demanding me to leave and go outside because of how I was dressed (just tieing up my black t-shirt to a crop top and had regular black pants on, no makeup or anything). They made me leave, physically grabbed a friend I made at the club who is lesbian and threw her out, along with them sexually assaulting her cousin (hand up skirt... it was her birthday) and threw her out. We were all shouting outside and I was telling them they are homophobic, and one of the bouncers said no... WE ARE NAZIS!!!! I have never heard employees say something like this anywhere I have gone to in the world, I was at a loss for words. Other queer people were also thrown out and then we all had to just get out of proximity because the all male bouncers formed a group like a militia literally looking ready to attack us if we did not leave! Stay away if you are tourists-UNSAFE A special Christmas gift at a night at Jab during family vacation resulted in an assault at this club. The outside posts surveillance cameras but my sons were assaulted by the inside coat check after paying cover charge. Four Italian men were obviously waiting on tourists and attacked two of us for no reason. It resulted in serious injuries and a bad feeling of Florence. Management were (when we arrived to pick up our son's coat from coat check the next day) alerted but showed little concern. I'm not a person who ever goes clubbing, but a friend and I met a couple who ended up offering to get us all a private table at YAB. They paid € 250.00 for it and this included a bottle of Smirnoff, some ice, and different pitchers of mixers. I left my coat at the table and there was a bouncer standing next to it watching the table the whole time. Despite this, my phone was STOLEN out of my coat. The bouncer allowed our table to smoke inside the club which was cool I suppose unless you are allergic to smoke. I went to the washroom together with my friend, and she literally got PULLED out of the stall WHILE I was on the toilet because I guess they thought we were doing cocaine in there together. The floor is extremely sticky, I assume because drinks are spilled on the ground. This would make sense considering the place is filled to the brim with teetering drunk youths. While dancing, your feet will stick to the ground. My boots were very dirty by the end of the night. The dance floor is a good size and the lighting is nice, but that sticky floor puts a damper on things. While we were dancing every guy there was trying to grab at us and I turned around to some dude just dancing and holding a handful of my hair. Talk about creepy. At one point, a girl for some reason pushed my friend into a wall and she hurt her wrist. This is probably ubiquitous behavior at clubs, but I don't really know. It shocked me for sure. The music was a solid 3/10. Again, the worst and most astonishing part of this whole night was my phone. A bouncer was watching my coat, and my phone was still stolen out of it. Hands down my fav club in florence. I have huge credibility in this regard since for 3 summers and a brief October bday vacay I went out every night in Florence (LITERALLY). It's located directly to the left behind the arch at piazza della repubblica (right by the duomo also), so the location can't be beat if you are staying near the center of florence. It's a cool underground club that is pretty large and has a detached VIP area and also a small outside area for smokers. The music is top 40/hip-hop. The bouncers and promoters are fantastic. Go on MONDAYS. read more

After asking the manager why a man wearing a large winter coat was allowed to go in without checking his coat. He gave us no answer, I guess because he didn't want to admit that he was sexist. I have never written a Yelp review before but felt entirely obligated after my experience at Yab. I ordered ONE (very overly priced) drink from the bar, and woke up the next morning without any memory of the night prior, having to visit the hospital because of seizures and fainting spells. Turns out, my very first drink I ordered was spiked and I was having terrible reactions to the drugs I was given that night. To add to the fact that I was DRUGGED within this establishment, I had woken up with a busted lip and had to receive 4 stitches from the matter. Also, my friend who was with me and tried helping me to leave the establishment said that I had physically fainted in front of the doors of Yab as we were leaving and not a single security guard blinked an eye. This club is UNSAFE. Especially for female tourists!!!! This isn't the first drug related incident I have heard of at Yab! When I explained to my doctor what had happened, he stated that he has had multiple females explain to him very similar stories related to this establishment. UNSAFE. OVERPRICED. TERRIBLE SECURITY. Don't come here before midnight, and make sure you bring lots of money since drinks are 10 euro. One drink is included with your 10 euro cover, but after that you'll get a small drink for 10 euro after waiting in a long line. I have had a very shaky couple of experiences at YAB. While inside it provides a very fun and energetic club environment which allows for some great nights. All of its music is top 40 and for the most part the bouncers and promoters are really great people. A couple of the promoters actually offered me tours of the city when I first moved to town, which was incredibly nice on their part. While the drinks are very expensive, you can pretty much expect that from any bigger club in any city. The location is great and the club scene is pretty big here, especially on Monday nights where people stay up to all hours of the night/morning. On to the negatives. YAB is one of the clubs which use the drink/entry card payment method which seems easy at the begininning of the night, but turns to be frightful at the end. They give you an entry/drink card once you arrive and while they do not tell you this, they assume you know that you must hang on to the card, regardless of if you purchase any drinks. If you do, they stamp the card and at the end of the night you pay to leave, along with the drinks you purchased. What is wrong with this approach? By not telling customer's about needing to keep the card, many people leave it inside making getting out of the club a living hell. Don't try to sneak out as I have seen many people who have tried to escape, dragged back in by the bouncers. If you do happen to lose your card, you are expected to pay a hefty sum of around 50-60 Euros just to leave. The bouncers on the way out were incredibly rude, especially to some of the girls we were with which left the rest of us to not appreciate the venue as much as we could have. I have had a few bad experiences covering people who have lost their cards, even myself, which has given me a bit of a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to YAB. If you are just traveling through Firenze and not staying for a long period, and looking for a fun club scene on a Monday, you should check out one of the many bars then move on to YAB if you don't mind the card situation. read more

Despite the majority of bad reviews on this place I gotta say that I had a completely different experience. It was our last night in Firenze and it happened to be a Monday and so we thought me and my best friend should just go out and make the best of it. The line wasn't that long when we got there (around 12:40) but the place was already filling up. There were a LOT of Americans (including us) so if you're looking for a place to meet a lot of locals this is NOT the place. The bouncers were nice and we got a free drink with the 10€ entrance fee (10 for girls 15 for guys). They do not have the keep-the-card-pay-later system and so that was good as some people can easily lose their card. Inside there is a pretty spacious dance floor and and bars located towards the back. The staff were cool, didn't really have any problem with them (they even allowed us in the VIP section, which was a good place to dance if you don't want random guys grabbing you and dance with you against your will) Music was kinda meh at first but got better eventually. All in all, it was an amazing night and would definitely go back next time I'm in Firenze :) read more

Staff is extremely rude. We paid to check our coats and when we went back to get them I gave her my number for the coat and she refused to give me the jacket. Then she started insisting I didn't give her my number. I kept telling her if she just checks I gave her my number and that it was number 12. She then proceeds to act like a child and scream in our face saying we need to pay 10 euros for it. We start pulling up pictures of us In the jacket insisting it was ours but she just kept asking for money. I start to get frustrated and tell her to look for my number I just gave her and she GRABS my purse and starts searching through my personal belongings without my permission. It was embarrassing how rude, childish, and unprofessional she was. Definitely just trying to get more money out of us and thought she could trick us because we had been drinking. Seriously careful if you're American. My friend was put in a headlock for absolutely no reason by the security. After a while I was able to convince them to let him go . We were charged 15 euros for cover charge and then another 8 for coat check, I think we were over charged because we are from the U.S. That be being said it was super crowded for a Monday night. I have never been disrespected more in my entire life than when I was waiting in line at yab. I was waiting in line with friends at general admission when this man in a blue metallic bomber jacket pulled me to the other side of the line, where he stamped me and then literally pushed me and told me to go home when I wasn't even trying to be in his line at all. When I tried to explain my situation a second man (a very tall, man in a black coat) pushed me once again and told me to go home. I started walking home when a third man got involved and told me to get back in line, completely disregarding the fact that they made me wait 30 mins. Florence isn't a huge night club area. I'd say the bar scene is much bigger for going out. However, Yab is an exception. This is by far my favorite club in Florence. The prices are good, the atmosphere is awesome, and it's a very popular place to go. The other big name club Space is very overrated. The music is also unparalleled. I have been YAB several times, I have been solo as I was traveling solo, I have been with friends too, I love it here! It's not that expensive, it's a big club of Florence so you do expect it, iv had lots of fun, I also have left my phone in the office on charge once and they handed it back I didn't even remember I did to be honest, great vibes, the hip hop nights/Monday/Tuesday are awesome! I would recommend coming here, I have also been to space too which is also good but I recommended YAB, I'll be going to YAB a lot more now as I have had a placement in Florence, great place. . read more

Me and my friends went to Yab on a Monday night in February. First, it started with the bouncers being racist to my friend and telling him he had to pay 250 euro for 8 of us to get in. We tried a different line with me in front. We got in, but were surprised with the excessive ten euro cover after we were told Monday was free cover for students. I questioned the lady who was charging us and she got very defensive and called a bouncer over, who upon realizing I'm gay called me a "fucking faggot" then kicked us all out. I am an American student and I go to school in New York City and have been in Florence for some time now and thus have a good handle on the club environment. YAB was, by far, the worst experience I have ever had in all of my club experiences. First, I think the 10 euro cover is extremely excessive but I went with it because all of my friends and I had already made our way there. Upon entering you are FORCED to check your coat for another fee and before I knew this I figured I could keep my jacket on and enter the club. As I was walking to enter I was aggressively pulled by the arm by a bouncer and told "you better check your coat, bitch." After being assaulted I decided to leave and didn't even get my 10 euro back. The entire staff from entrance people to bouncers are money hungry, extremely rude, and unconcerned with respect for others. If you are an American student I would highly suggest spending your money at a club like Space that will show you some decency. read more

They told us to leave the VIP section, which we disagreed with, because we paid so much for it. Then 7 bouncers continued to forcibly grab and DRAG out my friends and I. SEXIST STAFF I paid 10 euro to YAB, a rather sad excuse of a club, and as I tried to get onto the floor I was stopped by a bouncer who told me I had to take my jacket off and check it before I was allowed any further in. I had no intentions to ever take my jacket off and was offended by the fact they said I wasn't allowed in without if off. I asked them why? and they just said that was the rules. I said this is what I'm wearing tonight I don't want to take off my clothing. They didn't care. I told them I was cold and wanted to keep my jacket on and they told me to look around and that the other girls were "warm" and that I should be okay. In what fucking planet do we live in that I NEED to take off my clothing to be allowed into a business. My friend and I were having no part in this and demanded to see the manager. We were shown to some random man who I find very hard to believe was the manager of this establishment, he looked like he had no idea what he was doing and couldn't give us a single intelligible answer to any of our question. We tried to figure out why we needed to take off our layers of our clothing to be let in and he just replied it was the rules. I had been to this club several times before and have NEVER been asked to check any of my belongings. Not to mention my bag was searched when I arrived so there was no reason that wearing my jacket was a "safety" precaution. On top of this, while we were trying to have a conversation with the manager, a man was let into the club while wearing a large winter coat. We immediately. stopped him and tried to ask the manager why this man was allowed to enter the club without checking his winter coat and why we had to? The manager was unable to give us a decent answer. we finally walked away from the conversation, tied our coats around our waists and walked in where the bouncer (looking at our bare arms and chests) let us in, where we INSTANTLY put our coats back on. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! This club has treated me the worst out of any club I've been to on the planet! My buddy and I went and were dressed better then 90% of the people in line (we were wearing collared shirts, nice jeans-majority were wearing t-shirts). We were not allowed in because 'we weren't dressed good enough'. We could of gotten into any club in Canada (where we're from) based on how we were dressed, but they wouldn't let us in here. We were very polite and courteous through the whole process, therefore can only mean one thing, RACISM.
