Typically I order takeout from here but I've dined in multiple times and had a lovely experience. The food is always delicious and the orders are prepared very quickly. My favorites are the Spicy Shrimp Crunch Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and the Rock Shrimp Tempura. They also have a typical but great Lunch Specials menu that allows you to get an entree with miso soup or salad. I always go for the Bento Box if I'm dining in. A+ meal, service, and ambiance. I haven't had their cocktails before and they have pretty basic wine but should I give their drinks a try, I might have to bump up this rating. read more

I didn't want to do this but the woman at the register with the Bob was so rude and just nasty, I had too. So, I order from this restaurant all the time like seriously. As of last year I started ordering extra ginger and wasabi ( because I absolutely love it) The first two times I asked, I made sure to ask if it was extra and two different employees told me no. When I got home to unwrap my meal I noticed that I wasn't given the extras that I asked for. So I called spoke to the same lady that took my order, asked her if I can come in to get some and she said sure no problem. I head back to the store and the moment she realized it was me her face turned evil but I payed it no mind. She takes another guest money and hands her her food. I go to ask her if she needed my receipt to see my order and she tells me no but then tells me next time I owe them money because she didn't charge me. So I'm confused because the wording was just off. I asked her what she meant and she repeated herself but adding in the chef said he added it already and I'm asking for too much so next time I'll have to pay. My neck damn near fell off my shoulders. I had no idea where this attitude was coming from so I asked her if this was a new policy and started to tell her I order this all the time and you never charged me before, but before I can finish she turns her back on me grabs what I asked for hands it to me and tells me "next time next time you pay you pay." At that very moment I realized I will NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE ELSE LIKE I HAVE DONE FOR YEARS! Not like "why is the sushi so cheap, it can't possibly be real fish" cheap... just reasonable, particularly when it comes to their genrous, sizable sushi and/or sashimi combos. The kid will only do California Rolls, but loves both the teriyaki and the ramen--can verify they are solid too, since I often get the leftovers! I do somewhat prefer ordering from here--dine in is fine--and they do have a few interesting beers and sakes to pair with your sushi--but service runs a bit slow, and it is super dark in the back in a way that reads a bit more "couldn't you splurge for a few more lights?" than "intentionally setting a chill, romantic vibe." read more

IMO this place should not be below 4 stars. I was actually disappointed when I saw their rating so low. I've been in a handful of times for dine in and takeaway, and have always been treated extremely well even when I have my daughter in a stroller with me for a dad/daughter date night. The sushi has always been fresh, they have a wide array of options so even non-sushi lovers will easily find something, and everything I've taken away is presented and packed impeccably. The sushi & sashimi for two is a ton of food and a great value if you are looking for something fresh and don't want to decide. Is it one of the top 5 sushi places in NYC? Ordered delivery from Yamashiro for lunch through Postmates. Unfortunately I got the wrong order! Mistakes happen though, and I'm pretty sure it was Postmates's fault and not the restaurant's. The good news was that everything was still something I would eat, and was really good! The sushi and sashimi lunch combo is a solid amount of food. There were only three kings of fish included, so I wish there had been a little more variety. The star of the show for me was the spicy tuna, which was along the better I've had. The rock shrimp tempura was good, but it doesn't travel especially well. By the time the food arrived, the tempura had lost its crisp. The taste was definitely there though. Overall, I'd order from Yamashiro again. Hopefully I'll get to try the thing I actually ordered next time. read more

After walking by this place with our dog, we noticed a crowd and a delicious smell wafting. We decided to come back a few days later and were surprised to find the restaurant was bigger than expected! It overflowed into the back, with quaint music and a little waterfall. Ambiance was quickly approved! We ordered the house sake to share (and got another later to go with dessert). We were really hungry and started off with the Tuna Tataki ($11) which we sadly forgot to take a picture of. Again, super hungry, and it looked delish. It was perfectly seasoned, not too salty but ample pepper. There was a lovely vermicelli noodle salad underneath that was actually edible and delicious! So many vermicelli noodle bases at other places are just for show and too hard to eat. You could tell they marinated their noodles and meant them to be eaten. Bravo. After eating our app, we then placed the rest of our order. We wanted to wait since we were so famished and didn't want to over order! My partner ordered the Yaki Soba with Beef, and we ordered two special rolls to share - Mango Dancing Roll and Yamashiro Wasabi Roll. The soba noodles was an ample portion which we considered taking half home to leave room to order some sashimi, but he loved it so much, he devoured it all. The two special rolls were abundant in size and had 8 pieces each. Both were sooo flavorful and full of texture, a necessity to make sure you're not just eating mush. Our favorite was definitely the mango roll, it had so much flavor and the crunchy spicy tuna and yellowtail were just... wow. The other roll was an entirely different flavor palette with whole fish pieces, so they complimented each other really well. We had planned to order more, but the portions were plentiful, so we decided to close with just another sake and some mochi. The freshness was beyond evident. We're normally sashimi people, but with their specialty rolls knocking it out of the park and at a great price, we're excited to come back and try more of their specialty rolls. I ordered through Postmates and got two great lunch specials! I tried the chirashi lunch special and the teriyaki salmon lunch special. Both were SUPER tasty and such a great deal for lunch. They both came with rice and miso soup. The miso soup was great! And the rice was nice too. I can't speak to how the inside of the restaurant was since I ordered takeout but I can say that the takeout was well-packaged. Even with 2 things of hot soup, there were no spills! The restaurant was also kind enough to put a piece of cardboard between my chirashi and hot salmon teriyaki which kept the salmon from warming the raw sashimi too much. Pulled up here for the lunch school Inside , the place is tiny , not many seats . There menu is pretty big . I've ordered here the 3 sushi rolls combination. My plate was very big and lots of sushi. In my order , the pork Culet was good . A but tough . But definitely a BIG PORTION. The service here is ok . I see there do a few Uber eats - door dash service here . So that's. A good thing. Newly refurbished restaurant was warm and inviting. Miso soup had nice amount of seaweed and tofu. Lunch specials are an excellent choice and value. Lunch box with chicken tempura featured two chicken skewers, 3 shumai, California roll, rice and salad--all for $12. Only poor note was over-dressed salad. Sushi/sashimi combo had three generous slice of fresh fish--rice fell apart when dipped in soy sauce in addition, six nice pieces of good quality sushi and miso soup--excellent value at $17.25. The order looked great , but was disappointed in the desert . For $7.00 I ordered the chocolate mousse cake and the green tea ice cream for five dollars and the portions were very minuscule. The chocolate cake wasn't even the size of the palm of my hand, and the ice cream was at a minimal. I kind of figured that when I ordered dessert, you know the serving size would've been a decent serving size the kind that you get if you go to Edina as well as the ice cream but for the kind of money that they're charging for dessert, you would think they would give you a decent portion very disappointed. The extra space they've moved into next door is really nice--tons of booth seating, a huge bar area and spacious bathroom. I've always loved that there are plenty of vegetarian options. The whole restaurant is rather on the small side, and their menu leans on the more expensive side. Menu's are old and falling apart, and the bathroom is really dark, and cramped. The service was fine, the food was good but not great for those prices. Ramen was actually good for the cold day that I went. Overall, there's nothing to write home about, nor bad, just that it was a mediocre experience and I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if you're in the area, there is no inherent harm in checking it out for yourself. I'll start by saying I was very skeptic ordering from here. I don't usually order from sushi restaurants with anything lower than 4 stars at least, so I took it with a grain of salt. This was the cheapest restaurant close to me with the kind of sushi I wanted. So I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Boy, when I tell you.. the look on my face when I opened my bag was like a kid opening up a PlayStation on Christmas. Besides the packaging being well put together (I ordered through Uber Eats) the display was so gorgeous I had to take a photo. The sushi tasted SO fresh (especially for 7 at night haha.) was wonderfully sized, flavorful and delicious, it had me craving more! But I'm satisfied with this and a soup. For $20, I think that's a wonderful price for 9 pieces of nigiri, a tuna roll and miso soup. I had to wait a little while for it (which isn't the restaurant's issue.) but it was definitely worth it.
