    Crispy Apple Ice Tea
    Pearl L.

I stopped by for Nom Nom Sando and while I was waiting for our order, I figured I should stop by and try out this spot too! There were so many different options which was neat and I picked one I never usually see which was their Crispy Apple Iced tea. There wasn't any customization options besides adding in a topping which is unfortunate as I always request light ice and less sweetness just in case. Additionally, I wasn't sure how big the cup was or anything. Other than that, my drink was made relatively quickly and I think I was their first order that say as my order number said 1. The drink was pretty and it was pretty tasty especially with the sandos next to them. Unfortunately, it was filled to the brim with ice and there wasn't much to drink. They share a space with another business so there is plenty of seating but it's more on the Nom Nom Sando side with two tables and a long bench near the entrance of the side of Yan Tea. So not sure if you can sit on the Nom Nom Sando side. Not much to say on the service as they have a kiosk to order on. The employee will just call your number and name to get your drink and not say much else. I do like that as an introvert but it would have been nice to have a nice day or a response to my thank you. Might come back to try in the future but there are also other drink places nearby where I think I would rather try.

This spot is tucked away next to nom nom sando, but it's in the same entrance! They unfortunately don't let you do any customizations to drinks that have default toppings, but I guess that makes some sense. I got the mango jasmine which came with agar boba, and it was delicious :) super refreshing on a hot day and the flavor of the mango and jasmine both shone through. I want to come back to try their other drinks!

We walked past this shop and noticed their new black sesame drink, so we decided to give it a try and ordered the black sesame milk with mochi. The black sesame flavor was rich and nutty, and the sweetness was well balanced without overpowering the drink. The mochi was soft, sticky, and pleasantly chewy, adding a great texture throughout. It honestly felt more like a dessert than a beverage, which made it especially satisfying. Service was quick and friendly, and overall it was a simple but enjoyable treat that we'd definitely order again.

Really enjoyed their apple milk tea with fermented rice! Very refreshing and not too sweet!

Yan tea shares a space with nom nom sando (note the outside signs still say honeybee fried chicken). It's a great spot to have both a quick lunch and a sweet treat. Yan tea has two self order kiosks and there's also an option to order ahead. You'll be able to see the status of your order on a TV. I ordered a cheese green grape and it took about 10 minutes to come out (there were about 3 orders ahead of me with 1-2 drinks per order). Overall the drink was okay... the grapes weren't ripe so the drink was slightly sour. Given the many choices of boba/tea shops in the area, I probably won't be back.

无柿芒 | Mango Persimmons (with Mochi)

I've just discovered this place and super excited to try all their drinks. The reason I was initially drawn to this place was because of their season drinks, featuring persimmon. I'm not sure how long it'll last, but I recommend trying the Mango Persimmons (with Mochi) or the Coco Jasmine Tea Persimmons. The mango is a bit overpowering, so make sure you stir well. You can definitely taste the tea in the jasmine tea one, so recommend that if you like tea flavor. Yan Tea also shares space with Nom Nom Sando, which serves chicken, udon, curry, and more. It's located on The Ave, right off NE 50th St and across from Memo's. You can order in-person or online: https://order.toasttab.com/online/yan-tea-4744-university-way-ne.

I was intrigued by the 7 topping drink - The Ultimate Earl Gray, featuring boba, milk mochi, purple rice, raisin, grass jelly, caramel jelly, and peanut (optional, but I opted to include for the full experience) The drink itself is decent - the earl gray flavor is apparent, but do mix the toppings since otherwise you end up with no liquid and only topping which can be incredibly hard to drink. I enjoyed all the toppings though the milk mochi made things stuck in the straw which made it a bit challenging to finish consuming the drink. The price is decent at $7.50 and I was very full after just the drink!

This place has started to also sell food under the name nom nom sando. Love that there is now the option of bubble tea and noodles and katsu all under one place. We came for the Seattle restaurant week promotions and enjoyed both food and tea here. Although there are a lot of options in the area, this place definitely fits under my general rotation

Personally think it's sooo underrated, their flavors are so unique yet tasty and pleasantly surprising. I also enjoy how fast and efficient their service is, usually order on a screen, order status is shown on a big screen, and they usually aren't busy. Cozy and shares a building with a friend chicken restaurant that I also think is pretty good and cheap.

Black Grape Yogurt Smoothie BOGO deal on Uber Eats! - IG: @datglobetrotterlife

Another boba place in the U District! Located more in the northern part of the U District neighborhood, I was initially brought here by their BOGO offers on Uber Eats because I have a shit ton of Uber cash. But I kept on coming back, and for good reasons too: - Amongst their drinks I've tried, I actually really like the Black Grape Yogurt Smoothie - very tasty! - For their non-yogurt drinks like the Black Sugar Boba Milk Tea and Classic Milk Tea, both are decent. Is the Black Sugar Boba Milk Tea at the level of Xing Fu Tang's? No - Boba texture is fairly consistent each time, and they have other types of toppings too like the cheese foam, crystal boba, and milk mochi just to name a few - The layout of the seating is interesting because it's like this row of seats on the side with a few tables from a chicken/sandwich place that shares the same space - BUT, why I mention this is that they have outlets to charge your devices and while I didn't notice Yan Tea specifically having their own Wifi, you can use the Xfinity Mobile one if you have an account - They have a monitor above the cash register that tells you when your order will be ready so very helpful. Employees here have been helpful as well - Since it's on the Ave, lots of food options nearby! Anyway, another good option for boba if you are ever here in the neighborhood!

Yan Tea has since moved to The Ave (on 47th across from Jack in the Box) from their original location on Roosevelt. They share the venue with Honeybee Chicken. Yan Tea continues to serve fresh, natural, and innovative drinks including tea drinks, taro drinks, passion fruit drinks, mango drinks, and more. Since my last review, I've been back twice and have had much more positive experiences. On my most recent visits, I've gotten the JASMINE MILK TEA and the TARO DESSERT MOCHI AND WATER CHESTNUT BURSTING BOBA. The JASMINE MILK TEA was very strong and caffeinated. It had a great floral taste and was nice and smooth. I got 25% sweetness which was the perfect sweetness for me with light ice. My companion got an oolong milk tea which she enjoyed and gets on the regular. The TARO DESSERT MOCHI AND WATER CHESTNUT BURSTING BOBA was unlike anything I've ever had before (note that this is a dessert and not a drink). It came with fresh sweetened taro, milk mochi, raisins, walnuts, and water chestnut bursting (popping) boba. This dessert had a multitude of different textures and flavors going on with crunch from the walnuts, chewiness from the raisins and mochi, and smoothness from the taro and popping boba. As someone who normally doesn't enjoy popping boba, the water chestnut bursting boba was refreshing and tasted sweet and not artificially flavored. They had a shiny white exterior which made them look like little oyster pearls. The funny thing is that the more I ate the dessert, the more I realized that this dessert was simply just a trifle of all the different drink toppings they offer (minus the tapioca boba). I give them credit for flipping their business model and by reusing their toppings to create something completely new. Their drink prices are kind of steep at $7-$9 per drink, but still competitive to other boba places in the area. The taro desserts are priced slightly less than the drinks. The interior is clean, but 47th isn't the best or safest area and so you definitely want to be attentive when walking around outside. In terms of service, you order on the kiosk and they call your number at the counter when it's ready. They are relatively quick though, but I've mostly been at times near closing. Overall: 5/5 for drink, 3.5/5 for atmosphere, 4/5 for service

I went in on a Saturday night and got two drinks (peach yogurt with purple rice and mango pomelo sago). Both drinks were a bit intense. While I understand all the toppings and flavors differentiate them from other boba spots, it felt like a bit much for me all at once. I was also a bit disappointed in the lack of fruit teas. We ordered through a kiosk which had photos that were really helpful. It took a couple of minutes to get our drinks. It was a clean and modern place. However it has a pretty small seating area. I don't think I would crave this place, but if I'm ever in the mood to have something different I would come back.

I was starting school when Boba Up…read morewas being built and had an extremely brief chat with the owner in 2018 as I inquired about the shop and concept. Honestly, they have a pretty mediocre reputation among Asians who are familiar with boba, but I'd say Boba Up is good for what it offers (overly sweet dessert). Perhaps a decent entry to assimilate into boba before venturing into the more authentic spots. To quickly get the cons out of the way, quality isn't super high and price started out lower than others but have been steadily increasing to match or surpass other boba spots. Sweetness cannot be lowered and by default, it's pretty high. Toppings can get stale (particularly the boba) as it's left out and not always fresh. They also supposedly offer a free birthday drink but it's almost impossible to redeem (eventually after over 5 minutes, might as well buy a drink - my friend just recently had this dilemma). For a quick list of pros, they are one of the closest options for boba near UW campus, they have the best opening flexibility (open later than every other spot), and obviously variety so there's almost something for everyone. Come here for sugar, desserty drinks, the customization of toppings, or just a refreshment. Don't come here expecting strong authentic tea. Decent amount of seating with board games available, so stay for the vibes. An occasional visit for me when I'm in the mood, but realistically not the best boba experience.

That being said, it's an alright spot for sweet fruit teas or smoothie blends, as a dessert option. I tried to order 30% sweetness and I guess they don't support that. I don't remember other stores but sounds right, as their less sugar is 50%. Store is huge and spacious, but hard to work in because they blast music. There's also no real self service which can be a hindrance. Napkins, straws, other supplemental items are not available upfront. Service here was extremely transactional. I imagine they hire college students so that's nice, but training is lacking. Lack of warmth and comfort. Made me not even want to stay or ask for anything, so also no idea if wifi is available to the public. Password is not written anywhere. Restrooms not available. Underwhelming overall. Wintermelon Milk Tea - they got the wintermelon taste down, it's just excessively sweet. Good in a pinch or for a refresher. I will say their cup sizes are large, which perhaps makes it similar to the super sweet drinks at some coffee chains.

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #107…read more I've visited the BobaLust in Lynnwood before and was not impressed. I decided to give them another try, this time at the U District location. Bobalust opens up pretty late for a boba shop - most places start at noon or earlier, but for some reason BobaLust opens at 1PM. This particular location is depressingly dark inside with black painted walls and dark decor. That's a really interesting aesthetic choice (and not my favorite). OG Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Honey Boba ($6.50) - This tea has a strange harsh artificial taste. It's cloyingly sweet and tastes of a very overwhelming kind of flowery and fruity flavor. It doesn't seem to be from the tea and instead may be from either creamer or sweetener. It's overpowering, making the drink very difficult to sip on for my tastes. On top of this strange flavor is a heavy non dairy creamer aroma. It's added in such high quantities that the drink is thickened to almost a cream-like consistency, and has a slight bit of grittiness on the tongue. Even at 50% ice, there's a ton of ice in this drink. After drinking a bit, I went home and added in around 6 ounces of English Breakfast tea and it tempered things down enough to be pleasant. The boba isn't great either. They claim it's honey boba but while the pearls are very heavily sweetened in marinade, I can't detect any honey aroma whatsoever. The texture of the pearls are firm and almost gummy rather than being soft, chewy, and bouncy. Milk Tea Rating: 2/5 Boba Rating: 2/5 I'm still not impressed with this chain. There are way better options in the area for basic milk tea and boba. BobaLust remains in my bottom five boba shops in the Greater Seattle Area out of approximately 100 shops. Bathrooms - One mixed gender bathroom with two stalls.
