Loved it here so much. We randomly stumbled upon this place and it was packed which is always a good sign, we got in straight away and the staff were all very attentive and helpful with the Korean bbq. We left absolutely filled to the brim and had plenty of drinks for less than $100 for the two of us. I'd come back here in a heartbeat.

Fast and efficient service. Alfresco setting so the grilled meat smell doesn't get into your clothes as much. Portions were smaller than I expected compared with other BBQ restaurants. Free flow of side dishes and cabbages to balance the grilled meat.

Delicious pork belly and the colorful side dishes!!!

This was my first experience in the Korean BBQ Restaurant and I really loved it. Actually, I just knew this place because of my Korean's friend. There are a lot of tasty and unlimited side dishes (potato, salad, kimchi...) that is set with the BBQ. We ordered the delicious pork belly and had an egg hotpot as well. The staff service is the difference here: they are lovely and kind. Even though it is crowded, they cook for you and always keep an eye on the meat and change the grill when necessary. Here is a tip: for the best experience come with a native Korean, so they can show you how to enjoy better each dish on the menu. Try to grill the kimchi with barbecue, it will be more tasteful. Don't miss that!!!

During my time here at Sydney I came here twice. The hot coal grill in an outdoor setting was perfect for Korean BBQ. It isn't all you can eat like the states but I was satisfied with the amount of meat provided. The servers cook for you throughout the entire meal. The meat was very tender and high quality. The egg soup was amazing and the seafood pancake was also very delicious. I didn't feel like I overate like all the times I eat Korean BBQ. One of the best Korean BBQ I ever had along with it being outdoors your clothes don't smell as much.

Having no real past experience of true Korean BBQ or the format of how it's done, this was quite an adventure. Big menu and it was hard to know exactly how much you got and really what to order. So I had the young kid waiting our table help us who's English was not so great but we managed by doing a lot of pointing. I pretty much said sure to whatever he suggested. Then he comes over and drops a bucket into our table grill loaded with glowing charcoal embers and drops a grate on top of that. Then comes these pieces of sorta fatty looking pork belly that he himself tongs onto the grate with a nice sizzle sound and then takes off. We are not sure if we are supposed to then watch and flip this stuff or not so we are trying to watch other tables to see what they are doing. At some point I flipped them but the kid then comes over and flips them back himself. So OK, you are going to watch our stuff on the grill? Then comes a tons of little plates of God knows what of sauces, cabbage and then a bunch more meats. Also a large bowl of this cold tomato broth soup with a huge pile of micro noodles in it that look like a bird's nest. It's actually very good and not spicy at all. Eventually he comes back and moves the pork around some more and then to the outside indicating that it's ready so we start eating. I see some people are taking large piece of lettuce and loading them up with meat and toppings and eating them like tacos. So we try that and wow, gotta say this is the best pork belly ever with that nice charcoal grill taste. We also get marinated chicken, beef and some large prawns but we let those overcook and they get a little grainy but whatever. During the time we are grilling and eating, different guys come over with tongs to change out the grill for clean ones and they have these holsters with large scissors that they whip out to cut up the grilled meat into smaller pieces. The seats are mostly under a roof but with open areas to allow all the smoke to rise out which is smart. I think they know we are confused but having a great time. At some point we are stuffed after having so much meat but everything was very good. This was a lotta fun overall and we were glad we went.

The charcoal cooking method gives a great taste as opposed to some of the more common electric burners. Don't let the entry fool you, you'll have to take the elevator up to the second floor to access this restaurant. Once you reach the second floor you'll be greeted by the friendly staff who will seat you immediately. While you progress to your table you'll pass by a showcase of varied meats a lot of which is Wagyu! The displays were clean and well organized surely to amp up your appetite. In a glass room you'll notice one of the chefs operating a meat slicer as the meat is cut fresh upon ordering. As I'm sure some of you Korean BBQ fanatics have experienced some restaurants have pre portioned frozen meats. Don't skimp out on this restaurant, the food quality is high so make the most of it! While honeymooning in Sydney my wife and I were on the hunt for "Yangnyeom Gejang". Neither my wife nor I are Korean but "Yangnyeom Gejang" is Spicy Marinated Raw Crab. If you've never tried it and are open minded seriously give it a try as its not readily available. The crab dish was extremely well portioned and makes for a great side dish/appetizer. The banchan was superb and you'll be offered a variety of side dishes to accompany your meal. Aside from the raw crab we ordered Wagyu Beef Tongue, Galbi, and Pork belly! All of which satisfied us and we were well satiated! Whether you're just visiting or a local resident I HIGHLY recommend Jang Ta Bal for your next Korean BBQ venture!

The service was a little off -- one tissue napkin for a table of two (why?), basically tossed all the little banchan plates onto the table, and the bowl of miso soup could not have been more than 1/4 cup ... I mean, what's the point. Everything is all forgiven because the food was delicious. Food came out hot, flavors were balanced, and the carafe of ice, cold water was really nice (hey, I'm ready to please). Prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity. Give them a try.

This place uses charcoal so you do get that flavor. We ordered the baby octopus to start. I thought it was good, just a lot of other stuff mixed in with it. As far as the BBQ we got the bulbogi and the galbi. Both meats are my go to when it comes to Korean BBQ. And this place did not disappoint, tender and flavorful. We got the tofu and seafood soup, it was packed with seafood. The service was prompt and this place stays open late!

It's a name that strikes fear into the heart of the enemy as you imagine Dukbaegi and the 46 other ronin charging furiously into battle screaming a chilling war cry... but... this is neither feudal Japan nor a blockbuster movie starring that bloke from Bill 'n' Ted's. It is, however, a relatively new and very good Korean BBQ restaurant. I had to ask fellow yelpers where I ate because this place needs a branding lesson (as in molten metal on cowhide). The menu doesn't have the name on it, instead you get a double dose of discombobulation as Korean characters co-mingle with the English words "Korean table", which just confuses the bejeezus outta me. In fact you'd be so hard pressed to find this place that I doubt anyone will ever see this review because they won't be looking for Dukbaegi. Hopefully my search engine prowess doesn't fail me now, and by entering the keyword *Makanai* which is the restaurant next door, we should see this result rise like cream to the top. So how was the food? It was delish, fresh and hot (temperature not spicy). The positives were the serving size and the sides - which consisted of little potato fritters, mini-mash, and miso soup. The downside was that it took a long time for food to come out despite the place being relatively empty. I had the BBQ Chilli Pork Hotpot and it was super tasty. It easily filled me up and I enjoyed every mouthful.

With so many seemingly yummy dishes on the menu I had a difficult time deciding what to eat. After narrowing it down to 2 choices I asked the waitress what she thought and she recommended the chilli seafood kalguksu if I liked spicy food. It was a great choice on a cold sydney autumn night. The soup was spicy and very flavoursome. My only complaint would be the chopsticks. Why do Koreans insist on using metal flat chopsticks? It makes it very difficult to use, especially with noodles. Dukbaegi is a welcomed addition to the chatswood food scene and a great replacement for where used to stand a sub par dessert house.
