While Yang Yang may not be as impressive as Minh Phat on Victoria Street, it nevertheless has an excellent selection of Asian foods including canned, fresh, dried and frozen products.
I like going here because the experience of shopping at Yang Yang is always exciting and interesting. Although the store is large, there are so many people packed in that you have to do an awkward crab walk around the aisles to get what you need.
Always a burst of energy and noise, Yang Yang has one of the best fresh fruit and vegetable sections of any supermarket I have ever seen. Enormous piles of mint, spring onions, carrots, apples and more are lined up along the outside of the store and all are ridiculously cheap. I'm talking less than $2 per kilo of fresh carrots cheap.
The only issue that may arise is service. There really isn't any apart from the checkouts, so don't expect any help with deciphering packets or pointing you in the right direction.
Its every man for himself in here, so arm yourself with a basket and just take your time. Don't be afraid to push past other customers, and start shoveling the fresh produce into a plastic bag. read more
