I went with the Gyro Basket and tried the Greek Fries on the recommendation of a co-worker. I loved the unique flavor of the lemon, oregano, and sea salt on the fries. The Tzatziki sauce on the gyro was a little different than I am used to, but it was still really good. The meat was tender and juicy, and the pita was soft and delicious. I had the Gyro salad, extra meat. The service was fast, the meat has a good crisp on the outside but cut thick enough to not be tough. I don't know of any other restaurant where you can get a huge gyro, an order of fries, a large drink, and a piece of baklava for $9. All of the food is great and served quickly. The gyro was good as expected but the gyro meat was cut a little thick. I had the Greek fries along with it and those were kinda dry but had better flavor than normal fries. The guys working were very nice and personable, I would go back just for the atmosphere, and the Gyro is good too. This is my first time living in Springfield so I decided to visit Yanni's Gyros as my first restaurant to go to. I decided to go on September 23, 2014 with my friend. We were both very interested and excited to go to Yanni's because we have never been to a Greek restaurant before. It was difficult choosing what to eat because we have never tasted the food before but we both ordered the same thing. We had a gyro, Greek fries, and sprite sodas. The Gyros ingredients were; diced tomatoes, cilantro, sliced onion, Greek sauce, and pita bread. All them put together was very delicious. The soft bread made the sandwich even better in my opinion. The Greek Fries consisted of; fries, oregano, and salt. I did like the fries but some of them either had a lot of vinegar, just enough, or not enough. The inconsistency of it did bother me but they still tasted great. Overall the food and service was great and friendly. I enjoyed the restaurant, it was a cute little building that was decorated with American and Greek objects that talks for itself. One could tell that the restaurant is very big on culture, not just because of the food but because the colors and objects in the restaurant represented the Greek culture. The atmosphere of the place felt very family/culture oriented. There were painted flags on the walls and homemade olive oil, Greek style, for sale. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

I live in Chicagoland and this restaurant is true to the Chicago Gyros tradition. This place would make it in Chicago! The meat was done right and the sauce is above average. The only minus is that I could not have a beer with the gyros, since the restaurant does not have a beer license. I would gladly return if I am in the area. read more

went there for a quick dinner. the place is okay. it's not bad - but it's not great either. they don't miser on any of their ingredients but i would rather prefer a well portioned entree. (the right amount of / properly cut veggies) their tzatziki - or their variation of it - could use some work, it was okay. also tried their greek fries .. fries with lemon/oregano.. would have loved some well made tzatziki instead of the lemon/oregano mix.. large portion size - for $8 - you get a thick gyro full of meat, a portion of fries, and a medium drink. read more

I love this place! Best gyro around, bar none. I don't know why some of these reviews are knocking the cleanliness of the place. I have never been there and seen it messy like some of these people are saying. I have been in when some of the tables needed wiped down and they got wiped down as soon as the staff was able to get out to the dining room to do it! Great, friendly people, great food and great atmosphere. I saw someone else called it a "dive". I guess because it is a small place in an old building on an older side of town? I don't know. regardless, if you don't go give this place a try you are most definitely missing out! Try a gyro shoe too, yummmm!!!
