There are two major supermarket chains in New Zealand: Foodstuffs (New World, Pak'n'Save, FourSquare) and Woolworths (Countdown). This was the second grocery store we visited on our cruise tour through NZ, and this one was significantly bigger. It pretty much had every item a traveler or local would need, and the prices were comparable to US prices (once accounting for the currency exchange). There were also quite a few Asian specific items, ones that I would only find in an Asian grocery store in the states. My brother was searching for very high UMF Honey and he found the place where it would be...but they were sold out. One thing to note was that they clearly kept their eggs in the unrefrigerated section.

Everything was packaged well (no leaks!) and they were able to give us utensils and napkins to take also. The burritos actually held up really well for the hour and a half they stayed in a bag - I feel like burritos have a high potential for getting soggy. Both the regular egg burrito and the tofu burrito were flavorful and super generously sized. the filter coffee and the espresso drinks were high-quality coffee brews consistent with everywhere in New Zealand. I tried the cold flat white, which was really good but not that distinguishable from an Iced latte. Would definitely recommend this to anybody! We didn't, but the service at the counter was friendly and flexible with our Time pressure.

Nestled in Featherston is an amazing cheese shop called C'est with a cabinet filled with every kind…read moreof cheese from the Wairarapa. They are such a lovely couple running it and give you tastings of whatever you want. There's also an extensive range of meats, olive oils, chutneys and breads. It's nice how cheese has been bought back to Featherston where it all began. They sell speciality cheeses made by 20 different producers, including locally made Kingsmeade and Cwmglyn cheeses. I have never spent so much in one go on cheese.....but I wanted them all so settled on 4. I love cheese especially at C'est.
