I can understand why quilters get such a stash too... very tempting, although I don't sew much. This shop has a section for yarn, but the quilting and sewing side has more variety in it. I was tempted by a lovely apron, which is funny because I don't ever wear one! Maybe I would though... if it looked like this, and if I made it myself! They offer some upscale yarns in here that were heaven to sink my hands into. I managed to walk away with "only" 2 skeins, which will be for a project for me; I'm thinking mittens, but we shall see. I recently purchased the new knitting book called "Saltwater Mittens", which contains patterns that are supposed to represent Newfoundland, and I'm just itching to get going on a few of these patterns! They have a knit-night on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00. Now that it's on my radar, I will keep this in mind so that I can spend more time looking around. And oh yeah, knitting! LOL I will definitely be back.

I am not a knitter myself, but do come from a family that knits and can appreciate the work that would go into some of these patterns. One thing that I might consider at Wool N' Things is one of their courses! They can teach you how to knit or crochet accessories and clothes in one of their onsite classrooms. You have to buy materials at the store, but they help you select the right wool and teach you how to read the pattern as well. This is the new location of Unraveled, which moved to Perth from Merrickville over the Christmas…read moreholidays. Their first day in Perth was Saturday January 10th 2015. They are again located in an historic old building, on the main street of town. It's a smaller store, focusing on yarn and knitting / crochet / spinning supplies, and no longer have the gift shop. Note the new hours: 10:30 to 5:00pm, Tuesday to Saturday. They sell different kinds of yarns here, like Koigu and Madeline Tosh. And there's the added bonus of a road trip! This was great - it took us very little time to zoom through the shop because we knew what we were looking for, and then we relaxed over coffee in the building next door, planning our projects with our new acquisitions. I will definitely be back.

I was shocked today to see how big the shop is! Gone is the office space, in order to display more yarn! They have a humongous amount of squishy delight! Today I picked up gorgeous sock yarn for me and hubby, and a new colour of Briggs & little to knit something from "Big Splash Knits". I am busy knitting for the rest of this decade!!

They also sell sheepskin rugs and blankets, good quality leather belts, cowboy hats, and so much more! There's a tackle shop in the back that's even bigger, which caters to horse lovers, offering saddles, bells on a leather strap, and other hardware. It's an interesting array. What has changed is the wool shop; the person running it before dwindled it down in preparation for retiring. However, the public's interest in knitting has not dwindled! Thankfully, someone took over the management of the yarn shop within this store and expanded it greatly.! They now offer a good selection of Briggs & Little wool, a LOT of different sock yarns, roving in different colours, and needles. There might have been some acrylic, and there definitely was some cotton. I've been looking for enough denim blue wool to make a sweater for myself, and have not been able to find enough yarn elsewhere to achieve this. I did find it here (barely, to be honest!) I've got no excuse, now! I must knit!! Lucky for me there's bad weather on the way; plenty of time to get to it. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. The yarn was a good price. And I found a belt that fit! It was a good day. It was worth the drive to Carleton Place!!
