I've done two paintings now and both were fun and turned out quite nice, especially since I can barely draw a stick figure.

Where Clay Meets Comedy!…read more If you think "Free Throw Friday" involves hurling basketballs made of clay, you're not alone. I had visions of clayballs soaring through the air like some avant-garde sports event. Spoiler alert: "throwing" clay means slapping it onto a spinning wheel and hoping it doesn't turn into a wobbly disaster. I signed up for this pottery adventure with my ride-or-die squad--my day one homies, my partners-in-crime, my claymates. This is the group of friends that like to live their lives based on "why not's" - not "why". The class was a whirlwind of laughs, spinning wheels, and clay catastrophes. At one point, I was so focused on shaping my pot, I didn't notice it had turned into a modern art piece. A very abstract modern art piece. Our instructor, bless their patient soul, guided us through the basics with the grace of a potter who's seen it all. They probably have a bingo card for rookie mistakes: "Lopsided vase? Check. Clay hands in hair? Check. Someone actually trying to free throw a pot? Check." In the end, we each had a masterpiece, or at least something that vaguely resembled pottery. But the real art was in the laughter, the camaraderie, and the shared experience of trying something new. If you've got friends who are down for spontaneous clay-flinging fun, hold onto them. They're the kind of people who turn a lump of clay into a golden memory. So, if you're considering a pottery class, grab your besties, your sense of humor, and prepare to get messy and come join my friends at Stone Bear Studios!!
