Okay so the food is absolutly great as a picky person who doesn't like sweets in the morning, they have the best strawberry crepes! Plus the customer service is a 10/10 whenever me and my family go the employee's are always the sweetest they can be! The place was great and very clean personally, I can not believe more people do not go there. My dad used to work there and was treated wonderfully and always made my dad laugh. Well, bugger! We have been going here for decades but I feel a disturbance in the force Master Yoda! My usual order has been shrinking in size and quality. This was my breakfast place of choice (even for lunch) almost always the same thing the same way forever! The last visit will probably be our last one for quite a while before we're brave enough to try it again. Tried this place out for a late breakfast. It's a short-order spot that is somewhat of a rarity in that they serve only breakfast and lunch and are open from 6am-2pm. It looks like they serve items from the breakfast and lunch menu throughout their day. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs over easy as well as a short stack of pancakes. The corned beef hash looked like it was canned, but as I've stated in other reviews I'm ok with that as long as it's fried right, with a bit of crisp on the outside. The eggs and pancakes were solid as well. The food wasn't extraordinary but it was done right, and it hit the spot. Coffee was served by the pot. If you order it, you'll get your own to pour from at your convenience. The coffee is fairly weak, but I'm ok with that when eating in, as I can enjoy several cups with my meal as opposed to a get-up-and-go dose that I would otherwise buy for the buzz on the run. Service was adequate and we had everything we needed. Ambiance was very much like any breakfast joint such as Denny's, Black Bear or IHOP but it always feels a bit better to be eating at a place that isn't part of a regional/national chain. The place was comfortable and clean. Solid short-order breakfast joint. I may update if I ever try anything for lunch. read more

This restaurant has to be the best breakfast place in Eugene! Food always fresh and if you are a picky person they will accommodate you! Who does that?! Their wait staff are wonderful. If you are a senior or someone with a small appetite, there is a smaller menu for some of the breakfast items. I generally order breakfast. Coffee is great. Since our old fav went out of business we've been trying to find a diner for breakfast that had a similar vibe. We love being somewhere comfortable, small. Their food is great, we have never had an issue with it. The prices are good, too, we walk out of breakfast having spent like $30 and completely full and satisfied. It's so worth it. The people are very nice so far and they seem very fully staffed (though I've only seen it twice, and both on weekend mornings, so don't take my word for that) - but the staff is great. We're really happy we found a breakfast spot with a similar vibe to good ol' Busy Bee. read more

Regular diner food. Nothing to write home about. I really dont like their lack of fresh ingredients. Canned ingredients and even their hollandaise is made from a mix. I will say their hashbrowns are killer. I got the chile relleno omelette and it was meh. Eggs super fine and not fluffy, canned chile and cheese. Canned ranchero sauce on the top. Was just driving by when I saw the word breakfast and immediately stopped. Boy was it worth it. They have the swedish style pancakes which I haven't had done correctly since I was an exchange student in Norway. I got the blueberries and boy were they good. Came here on a Sunday morning. Waited 15 mins for a table. No problem, the food is generally pretty good and it's a weekend. However, what wasn't cool was the fact that after we were seated, we waited another 10 mins for our server to come to our table. We spoke to the manager about possible solutions to the problem and we were given a list of excuses and no apology for the poor reception. In fact, the manager informed us that perhaps we should've said we were ready to order to avoid a longer wait time. I've worked in the restaurant/customer service industry for years and NEVER is it ok to put the responsibility of the err on the customer! I was appalled at the lack of skills, caring and overall concern for customer satisfaction. Add that to the sink water that tasted of old pipes, the fly that kept circling our table the 30 minute wait time for the food after we placed our order, the not so fresh fruit, the burnt English muffin and the fact that my hard earned dollar doesn't seem to be appreciated here, we won't be returning! read more

*WARNING* The chocolate chip pancakes aren't actually chocolate chip pancakes. They have "melted chocolate chips" in the batter and some on top. Some would argue that's the same thing but they're not. The pancakes by themselves don't taste like chocolate only the top one does since it has chocolate chips on top of it. A chocolate chip pancake has delightful morsels of chocolate distributed within it, it is not a chocolate pancake with some chocolate chips on top that costs $2 extra. I want to talk about Ye Olde Pancake House and their Chile Relleno(sic) Omelet. YOPH is one of those 'old timers' type hangouts. You know, where senior (and near) citizens, and families go for coffee, breakfast, or lunch as well as conversation. The walls are decorated with pictures of local sports heroes, and the waitstaff are friendly and polite. Even though We live in the same neighborhood as YOPH, I have eaten there only a handful of times in the thirty plus years we have been in Eugene. Recently, sort of on a whim, I had breakfast there. I knew they would not have my standard whole sprouted grain (Ezekiel Bread) toast with avocado, but I figured a simple omelet would do. I chose the Chile Relleno with hash browns, no toast. OMGOODNESS! I don't care if their 'spicy' sauce is canned, as some reviewer stated, or house made, it is delicious! I could put that in a soup bowl, heat it up and eat it with a spoon. No Jack cheese, no crackers, no tortillas, or chips necessary. So . . . A week after the 'sort of on a whim' visit I dragged my husband there for a late breakfast and enjoyed the same yummy omelet. Stopped in for breakfast and got the bacon & cheese omelette with pancakes. Very delicious! Omelette was cooked to perfection! Light, fluffy, cheesey, good amount of bacon, and best of all; it was served piping hot! Yes, for once a restaurant that serves its food hot! The pancakes were really good, too! They were sweet and not too thick, so they don't get mushy, just the way I like them. The service was prompt and friendly. The place was clean and had a warm ambience. I don't know where to begin with this place. We stopped because the lot was full and we decided to try it out. We were seated and across from us I was uneasy because of the tweaker looking patrons giving me a stare down. Not the restaurants fault but still made me feel what did we get ourselves into here. I saw the "German pancakes" so I assumed and hoped it was similar to my favorite crepe's so I asked and it was. Of course I asked them to hold all of the weird garb and just had the butter and powder sugar like a normal person. I don't like the extra stuff like berries or jelly it just seems a bit much or weird. I'm a Dutch Indonisian girl who loves crepe's. Now my other half ordered an omelet which he usually does when we go out for breakfast, and he said this was the worst omelet he has had! I'm pretty sure it was a ham and cheese because that's what is his norm and that is hard to make bad!!! I also want to mention that I added a sausage link and an egg with my crepe and the egg tasted like it was over loaded with salt and the link was so gross and looked like it came from the south end of a dog! The bathroom was gross! We had to wait a while for our check we almost just walked up to the counter! The good....I really liked my hot cocoa!!! A classic greasy spoon with an odd Oregon twist. The food here is mostly a starchy, greasy mess, the kind of food you'd feed your family...if you really hated them but were too cowardly to just hack them to death with an ax like Lizzie Borden, that is. To my great surprise, however, I found the spinach and mushroom omelette fantastic, so much so that it left a big old muddy bootprint all over the hiney of the Glenwood and most every other Eugene breakfast nook. However counterintuitive it might seem, Ye Olde Pancake House is capable of a real winner on occasion. Sadly, those winners come far too seldom. Which just leaves all the starchy, greasy stuff you get the rest of the time. Ye Olde Pancake House is so incompetent, they even manage to screw up toast! I'm not picky about toast; the only thing I really ask is that it be somewhere between its cold, never-heated-after-baking state (where I'm from, we call that "bread") and heated so long and/or viciously that it has no moisture whatsoever left, in which case it's just a large flat bread crumb. The oily, cold, freezer-burned hash browns aren't appetizing either. Picture IHOP food at bistro prices and you've got it about right. The coolest thing Ye Olde Pancake House offers is the trivia quiz at each table, which you can use to amuse yourself while waiting for your food since it takes a while on busy days. The wait staff is nice enough, too, but this place is a zoo at the witching hour on Saturday and especially on Sunday when the churchy folks invade. If you need a place to take the kids and the in-laws, this might do in a pinch...but if you're really looking for a good breakfast, you won't find it here. read more

Omg, this place is terrible. We end up here occasionally because of a coworker who loves breakfast for lunch. This place really does smack of greasy spoons, alarmingly bad coffee, and grandparents. Some notable menu items include the Reuben club (greasy!), the regular dry club with ridiculously tasty bacon, an egg McMuffin-type dish, and their hashbrowns. Hmm. Plus, it's not exactly the value you've been seeking for all of your lunches. I had the dry club with a "salad" -- a bowl of Romaine with one gigantic, chilled tomato slice on the top -- for $11. I tried this place Sunday after being too impatient to wait at Brail's. When you go inside, it kinda feels like a place your grandparents would take you for the early bird special. It's low key, dated decorum is part of it's charm I guess. No need to pay attention to the surroundings when there are pancakes to be had! They've got a great menu, with pancake options that range from sweidsh pancakes, to potato pancakes to pumpkin! YUM! The interior is funky, but the food was good. Old school. This place has been here for 40+ years, yet this was my first time here. Word has it the Ron Jeremy-like owner/mascot (props to a fellow Yelper for that catch) is still around, but with gray hair now. The place was packed on a Saturday morning with a very short wait. Friendly, efficient service got us seated and with food pretty quickly. We had the German lemon pancakes, crepes with a huge mound of lemon butter. They weren't at all sweet and needed the maple syrup that I stole my husband's pancakes. I really liked how the ends of the crepes were crispy. A chile relleno omelette special was interesting and tasty. Think big ole pasilla pepper splatted out of an omelette with a bunch of cheese and sauce. Not bad. The side of pancakes were light and fluffy. Bacon was okay, nothing special. Coffee is decent and they leave a thermos on the table. All in all, I probably won't be a regular (and Ye Olde has plenty of 'em, I'm sure) but it was a fun jaunt to a little time capsule down West 11th. read more

BEST crepes maybe ever, delicious selection for the crepes as well! The servers and staff are always friendly, this is my favorite early morning spot. It is not obnoxiously crowded like some of the other breakfast establishments or overrun with obnoxious kids, it is a quieter and much more comfortable atmosphere. Ye Olde Pancake House is just that--a pancake house. I wasn't expecting gourmet food, nor is it. But, their food is good quality, the place is clean, and the price is right. I usually get their # 3, which is two eggs, two bacon, two pancakes. Eggs were scrambled, tasted good. Bacon was relatively thick, seemed good quality. Pancakes were large, and tasty...perhaps could be a little more fluffy/tender...but were still good. The best part is their house coffee. I'm not a coffee snob, but I don't drink folgers and the like. Their house coffee is really good. If you're looking for a simple, tasty, filling, no-frills breakfast, I suggest you give them a try. I suppose for what they are, I should give them 5 stars. But Yelp's system for 5 stars is "as good as it gets". read more

This diner never disappoints. We have tried a few places around town and left unimpressed. But this place has the best breakfast so far. The bacon is probably the best I've ever had (I ask them to cook it crispy). My husband loves the biscuits and gravy, as well as their French toast, but my favorite is the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. The waffle is crisp on the outside, but light and fluffy on the inside. They have great service and they leave a coffee carafe on the table so you can refill as needed. Good prices too. Apparently I'm already an old fart, because I love this place. I love the style of the building, the old school feel of it, and it's down home vibe. I love the school spirit shown here too, from servers aprons, to the crazy hats seen on the cooks thru the line opening. The staff is always friendly, and the food filling and good. The omelettes are spectacular here, and there are many new and different options. The green chili is my favorite. My husband loves the pancakes, and waffles. He likes waffles cooked 'light' and the kitchen always does it right. It's a breakfast house. You don't go to a breakfast house to lose weight or diet, so don't try here. Order what you like, deal with the fact you're gonna go over your points for the day, and revel in it. Classic Diner-style food in a family-friendly atmosphere. I've been here several times, and honestly the only time we go is with the grandparents. The food here is typical of breakfast you might have at any diner across the US. Large portions, average food, pretty good service. This time I had eggs and hashbrowns with scrambled eggs. It tasted fine, came out hot, and was more than I could eat myself. The hashbrowns were not as crisp as I usually like. Basically, the food will always be 2 out of these 3 things: fast, hot, cooked right Overall, if you're just looking for a decent breakfast at a reasonable price with your grandfolks, this is the place to go.
