I don't know how this place still hasn't received any reviews, given that it's one of the better…read moreall-purpose spots in Emser Kiez and its surrounds. Plus, can you really resist that name?
If you're looking for a breakfast spot that's off the beaten breakfast path, check this place out. Granted, the waiting times can be long, but be forewarned, either by this review of the note on the first page of the menu. Because many (not all) of the ingredients are fresh and foods made on the spot, the service isn't super quick, but then again, isn't weekend breakfast supposed to be a relaxing experience anyway?
The menu caters quite well to vegetarians, although vegans might be hard pressed to find anything substantial that isn't simply bread. I came here on a Monday morning with a friend and it was delightfully unpacked. He had the vegetarian eggs with an espresso shot and a large glass of warm soy milk with honey. I had a soy hot chocolate, and a bowl of müsli and fresh fruit. Together, our bill came to €17.
If breakfast isn't your thing, come here in the evening for some drinks and casual conversation over candlelight... you may even want to try a piece of homemade cake or pie, or even a cheese plate if that's your thing. There is also art on the walls that changes every so often. Decor-wise, the restaurant is decorated sort of hipster-y shabby chic, and feels somewhat unfinished yet comfortable just the same. It's like the non-smelly living room of a grandma, with mismatched patterns and furniture, yet it all fits together just perfectly.
