I then received a bill for $83.75. A roofer had already removed the chimney cap at my request because I was concerned it may have been sealed accidentally. The roofer contacted S&B to discuss his questions with them. I was of the understanding that S&B was being sent due to their concern, and the roofers, of CO build up in the home. The S&B employee was outside my home momentarily, evaluated nothing, and provided me with no new information. When I called the company regarding the bill they confirmed they charge a service fee of $45 and mileage of $38.75 (even though the driver was only 17 minutes away). I was warned of neither charge in advance and was told by Melanie that it was not their responsibility to disclose that information to me. She then became defensive at the idea that I should question whether the billing was legitimate. Since I willingly gave my address and consented to a time, she said I had agreed to the cost of the fees. When she questioned why they sent someone to my home, I agreed that I too was unsure as to why they had agreed to send someone as her conversation of the issues was with the roofer and not me (the company knew the chimney cap was off and that a cap was unnecessary). The roofer later told me he was not made aware of those fees and was shocked that I was billed. I certainly will not use this company in the future and would discourage others from using them. *Multiple well-rated companies from Kearney and the surrounding area will provide free evaluations and estimates so I would choose someone else.

My…read moreelderly mother had Double J install a R/O system, water heater, and water softener in her home. They ordered an R/O system kit with a chrome faucet where there was a brushed nickel faucet already installed, basically the wrong kit to match what she already has on her sink. This faucet was necessary to the R/O system as it has sensors and lights on it that tells you which one of 3 filters needed to be replaced. They left without leaving any owners manual, because this owners manual would have shown there was a specific faucet required for this system. I found the part number, looked it up online, and printed the owners manual, where I discovered the absent faucet. They were going to leave her with an incomplete system. After numerous calls, they finally contacted my mother and had ordered the correct faucet, which was changed when Branigan (?) arrived to pick up the check. He did tell my mother that the faucet cost over $200 and that he was going to have to just "eat the cost". Another issue with Double J was with their employee(s). They had urinated all over the toilet, toilet seat, and surrounding walls/floor. My mother was extremely disappointed when she saw that. She brought up the issue with Branigan(?) and this had been an issue before and had instructed his employees to go to the gas station or ask permission. In all, my mother's experience with Double J has NOT been a good one. Use caution when using Double J Plumbing. Be on site watching the employees and if you are purchasing new items from them to get all of the owners manuals, make sure everything is done correctly, and they leave a clean bathroom if you allow them to use it.

No more, no less. They hand-wrote the contract instead of typing it up, so we missed that they didn't add the gutters we had discussed and thought they added. They were supposed to be all triple-paned, specially-built windows, but they bought the egress window at Menards. They didn't keep us updated as to the schedule. In July, we called and they said it would be a couple of weeks, 3 weeks later I called them again, oh, it'll be a few weeks, wash, rinse, repeat. When they finally did come, they worked for 3 days, disappeared for 2 days, worked a half day, disappeared for a day, worked an hour Saturday morning disappeared and came back, etc... They didn't do any kind of walk-through when they were done. We had them do quite a lot of work, so a show-and-tell would have been nice to know the job was done right. They demanded payment immediately when they were done with the work. Every other contractor I have ever worked with has either handed or mailed me a final bill to be paid in two weeks or 30 days. They called while their crew was still working to ask for payment. This is when we found out the gutters weren't getting done. They stated they 'never do gutters' even though we discussed the gutters with them and the crew that arrived. As far as I can tell, the workers did a good job, the roof seems sound, and the windows are good. The workers were friendly and professional. The NCR team was friendly too until they decided the bill was due. Then they were no better than any other debt collector. We told them we had to contact the bank the afternoon they asked. So before 9 the next morning (before the bank was even open) they were calling again. I would not recommend NCR based on their business practices.
