My first-ever Yelpies and at one of my favorite local spots! I heard Skate took over last minute and they did such a great job. We got a private patio area to ourselves an and enjoyed a great cocktail as well as welcome glass of champagne, plus some great bites. Loved the Slate sliders, and the tempura veggies and shrimp were so good! II've never had a tree pita shrimp that was such a large shrimp! I was so impressed. Service was great thanks to Joey, and the awards were so fun to hear about from our wonderful CM, Jara. Thanks so much to everyone who put this on and I can't wait for another wonder year of Yelp Wlite!

I'm happy to attend all Yelp events, especially The Yelpies. It is truly an honor to be here with the members and to have the opportunity to celebrate with those who have contributed so much to local businesses this year. And Slate was the perfect venue for this celebration! We were greeted by a large Christmas tree when we opened the door. We took photos with the members in front of it and enjoyed a fun conversation at the outdoor table. A toast of champagne and I tried the pineapple margarita cocktail. I would have preferred something with less alcohol, but it was delicious. All the snacks were delicious, but I especially liked the edamame:) It was great to meet some new members, and I had a great time with everyone. I hope to boost local business as a member again in 2025! Thank you, Slate, Yelp, and Jara for a fantastic event!!

Many thanks to Slate and Jara for organizing a wonderful night to celebrate 2024! This was the perfect location to kick back with fellow yelpers in a relaxing environment on the outside patio with many heaters for a cold night! The event provided the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends, meet new friends and to celebrate accomplishments in 2024. Congrats to fellow Yelpies for their great work in 2024 and to those who received awards. Slate provided us a welcome drink of champagne that graced the tables, as well as a choice of one of two cocktails. With the recommendation of our great waiter, Joey, I picked the pineapple margarita. The other option was bad and boujee, a floral tasting drink. The margarita can be had spicy or regular. The cocktail was a perfect balance- not overly sweet or tart. We were also offered a beautiful charcuterie board, spicy edamame, burger sliders and tempura shrimp with veggies. The shrimp tempura was impressive as the shrimp were really big. The tempura was nicely prepared as it was airy and not overly fried. Lastly, I would like to commend our waiter Joey who did a fabulous job manning the whole patio. He had great energy and kept the mood at a high! Thanks for our experience great!

What a great way to end the year! Yelp has become such a wonderfully large part of mine and my husband's lives since we became Eliters, so we absolutely loved joining this event to round out the year. Slate was absolutely lovely to host us for the event, and the food was absolutely delicious! While all of it hit, their sliders and edamame were just outstanding. Plus they treated us to a welcome glass of champagne as well as a cocktail with the meal. Their Bad & Boujee was such a refreshing treat. We were definitely spoiled for the night! Loved spending the night with the Yelp friends we have made over the year as well as with the new friends we made that night. It's such a lovely community to have become a part of. I was also honored with Reviewer of the Year! What an exciting way to finish my Yelp 2024. As I said, Yelp has brought me so much, so this was just the cherry on top. Thanks for a great last event of 2024. Here's to 2025!

What a festive and exciting time! Slate and Yelp hosted a wonderful event to celebrate the yelpies this year! First of all we were greeted with a glass of champagne which was a perfect way to start. We had a simple but decadent charcuterie board, edamame, burger sliders and tempura shrimp with veggies. For me personally the edamame was delicious as it had a slight sweet and spicy taste. The shrimp was also tasty as it was light and airy but I think it would have stood out even further if it had like a dipping sauce accompanied. For drinks I ordered the bad and boujee and it had a lovely floral taste and not too sweet. Our waiter Joey was incredible and he ensured we all had a great experience. Congratulations to everyone that earned an award for their hard work and dedication to yelp and their communities!! You and all the yelp community are amazing.

The yelps are always so fun, and this event was no different. I have never been to Slate, and had always heard good things about it. Was excited to see they were hosting us for the Yelpies. Such a cute thing to walk in and have welcome champagne. The champagne was really good. Both cocktails that were being offered sounded really good, but I ended up going for their pineapple margarita. Such a good drink. I hadn't tasted their food by the time I received my drink, and I was already in to come back. It was really good and just the good amount of being strong. Liked the balance of food they had. There was charcuterie for us to snack on while they were still prepping the food. Grateful they had items for me since I am a pescatarian. Really enjoyed their edamame. Even over their shrimp tempura they had, which that was really good as well. Overall, really enjoyed this. Really good way to close off 2024. Was really happy to see everyone who won awards. You all deserved it.

Slate is tried and true! I have been to slate for another yelp event as well as been to events they have catered and it has been such a joy every time! I like the food and the service is always otherworldly! This was the perfect venue for the Yelpies. Being someplace that felt like such a staple of our community with yelp friends was perfect! What an amazing event!

This was my first Yelpies & it was so much fun with the drinks, bites, & great company. What a great way to kick off the holiday season! Loved the welcome champagne & the pineapple margarita- Joey recommended making it spicy. Joey was personable & attentive for how many of us there were. Charcuterie was a great starter and then I tried the edamame, slider, and shrimp. I enjoyed the nice spice on the edamame, you could def feel the heat after. I was surprised on the size of the shrimp- they were big. And a slider is always a classic for small bites. Congratulations to all the Yelpies! Thank you Slate, Joey, & Jara for a great end of year event!

Yay for the Yelpies! Thanks for Slate, especially Joey, and Jara for throwing a bash to end the year in style. Loved that everyone dressed so festively. Congrats to the winners of this year's Yelpies! It was an honor to even be invited to the event. Jara was a wonderful MC and all the winners were well deserved. Can't wait to see the competition heat up next year. I am going to have to turn my Yelp badge in because I totally forgot to take pictures of the food tonight. (j/k Jara please don't take my badge away. I love this community) But the light bites were perfect for tonight. Charcuterie, edamame, sliders (burgers) and tempura shrimp and shishito peppers were tasty apps. Joey is the MVP for taking our drink orders all night and being so attentive to everyone. We ended the night with some high winds so hope you all drove home safely! See you Yelpers at the next event.

Another amazing event put together by the amazing Jara! Got to meet new people and try some good food! The charcuterie board was so good! The edamame was so good as well as the shrimp! Super cute outdoor seating area! Everything was great!

The Yelpies are the most anticipated event of the year! I know everyone was eager and waiting for this event. I was thrilled to hear that Slate Bistro would be hosting us as they have done such a wonderful job in the past and they are truly a restaurant I love to support because of their lovely decor, delicious food, stellar service and the way in which they give back to their community. I knew we were in for a treat and felt very blessed to be able to come. I loved that Slate had us outside on the more intimate patio to the right of the venue. The tables were cozy and we were all able to be pretty close to one another because of how the setup was which was really nice. Our Yelpie swag was cute, love the phone light up clip! Perfect for all of my pre-meal selfies! My table was Jolie, Jess, and Eri. Loved being able to sit with friends and celebrate all of those who won awards. Congratulations to all of the award winners and thank each and every one of you for making Yelp so great! Jara and HQ were so lovely to read out such sweet sentiments about the winners, it was nice for yelp to acknowledge some of their elites in which a thoughtful and appreciative way. Really this is the best most amazing community ever. Okay now back to the specifics. Slate really has a great cocktail selection here. I was impressed that pre cocktail we were all started off with champagne. Super smooth and definitely set the mood. For my main cocktail I opted for the Pineapple Margarita which is a fan favorite. It was perfect and smooth. Loved that you could really taste the pineapple and the presentation was cutie. Appreciated the light bites as most of us were pretty hungry lol. Starting off with the cheese and meat plate was a nice touch. Presentation on this was beautiful. For the light bites we had edamame, mini sliders and tempura shrimp/ veggies. My favorite bite of the night was the tempura shrimp! The veggies were gone by the time I got up there but the massive shrimp tempuras were left and OMG they were huge! Tempura done for a large group is tricky in my opinion so I was super impressed that the batter was crispy and maintained its shape. It was delicious and I would definitely come back for their tempura alone. Shoutout to Joey for being our server with the mostest! He is seriously so awesome! His positivity shines through and his can-do attitude makes you feel valued as a customer and he really gave us such a great experience given he was the main guy running around to help get us all of our drinks and just hyping us up. If every business had a Joey, I am sure everyone would report back the service being a 10 out of 10 because he was one of the highlights of the night and so fun. Overall it was a lovely night. This community has been amazing to be apart of all of these years and ending the year with another fabulous yelp event and Yelpies award ceremony made the night magical. The friends that I've made along the way and the businesses that we have been blessed to support make me feel so proud and lucky to be a part of this group. Mega shoutout to Jara for being our CM leader this year and for always putting 100% into these events and building such awesome relationships with these types of businesses in the community that we get a chance to try them. Even being under the weather you clearly put your all into the night to give us all a great experience and your attention to detail is always spot on. So thankful to you Jara, the interns we had this year (temporarily) and to HQ for steering this ship so that we can continue to have fun and create memories that won't soon be forgotten.

Wow, I have to say this place makes one of the best Açaí bowls I've ever had!…read more I appreciate that guests for this event were allowed to customize their bowl however they wanted. But since it was my first time visiting Sunlife Organics, I decided to go with the suggested bowl, the Hawaiian. So glad I did because the Hawaiian is the perfect blend of ingredients. It was exactly the ingredients I like in an Açaí bowl, plus shredded coconut. I found the addition of coconut to be a particular delight. It added that extra hint of Tropical to the bowl that it needed to deserve the Hawaiian moniker. Sunlife Organics impressed me with their exemplary customer service too. I was greeted with a smile and all my questions were cheerfully answered. It didn't take long for my order to be completed and I enjoyed checking out the store while i waited. It was a fantastic beautiful Southern California day outside so I chose to enjoy my bowl at one of the tables in front of the store. I appreciate that there were umbrellas at those tables because I forgot to put on sunscreen before I left the house. The store is located in the area of Thousand Oaks called "The Lakes." This was my first time visiting this wonderful little place and I loved it. Really beautiful landscaping, delightful water features, a place where you feel comfortable hanging out for a while. After the event I discovered that there are many Sunlife Organics stores around the area. That's useful information, because you never know when you're going to feel like enjoying a nice Açaí bowl. Now I know a great place to get one. Thank you, Sunlife Organics! Thank you, too, to Yelp! I appreciate the invitation to try this great local business. I have been eyeing this…read morespot for a long time now so I was so happy to finally be able to give this place a go thanks to Yelp. The location is great, especially coming in the morning as it was quiet since a lot of the businesses don't open until closer to 10am/11am. I was able to grab a parking spot in the back and had a quick walk to Sunlife. The signage was easy to spot and the storefront was very cute and welcoming. At 7:30am there were already a couple of yelp elites there (we love an early riser) and everyone seemed excited for their breakfast treat. They have a much bigger menu than I realized. I was definitely impressed. Lots of smoothies, juices, and bowls. Also they have a cold counter with nice little snacks if you are looking for something small. I grabbed a juice to go and am excited to try it later, the juice had blueberries, pineapple, butterfly pea tea, and rose water just to name a few ingredients. The gals that helped me this morning were Delaney and Alyssa. Super sweet girls and totally made me feel welcome! I told them I was a first timer and they were very excited to hear it. I appreciated that they were quick in making our orders but also didn't make us feel rushed. Given that I came before work I appreciated that they were on top of it to get some of us in and out that had to go. However, I was able to sit at their cute little counter for a little bit and enjoy my bowl so that was nice. The Hawaiian bowl was the perfect starter to my day. It's definitely a classic bowl with the basics - açaí base, granola and strawberries and bananas. Normally I would opt for something a little more adventurous but for a freebie bowl it definitely hit the spot. Was very tasty, healthy, and a great way to start the day. Loved seeing all of the frozen fruit out while they prepped and they also were in the process of making a gal some iced coffees. Everything looked good and now I am eager to come back. Thank you Sunlife organics for hosting us! This spot is definitely cute and the decor makes you feel tranquil. The perfect post workout spot or for a light meal. Need to try more of their items, so I'll be back!

As I had never heard of the place I guessed it was a new business. Well, I guessed wrong. I was surprised to learn the place is celebrating 7 years in business. Before visiting Palm & Boy I checked out the photos on their Yelp page. What a beautiful location! I was like, that doesn't look like Ventura to me, that looks like Santa Barbara, wait, did I sign up for a Santa Barbara event? I checked the address. East Main Street, Ventura. Then I clicked on the map. Ah, the place is in Downtown Ventura. That's why I never heard of Palm & Boy: I really don't spend much time Downtown. For sure, on my own, I would have never have found out about Palm & Boy. So I've gotta say Thank You to Yelp for the invitation to this event! The store is located in a really beautiful courtyard, accessed right off Main Street. It really felt more like Santa Barbara than Ventura to me. Like a Paseo Nuevo vibe. I loved the setting. Attendees were afforded their choice of one drink and one food item off the menu. I decided to try a Chai Latte and an Acai Bowl (the Stoke). I have to say, that was one fantastic Chai Latte. Best chai latte I've had locally. I would definitely hit that again! The Stoke acai bowl was wonderful too. What I liked about it was that it was not overly sweet. In fact, it was rather tart. Like it made you kinda pucker up. That tart! And I really really liked the granola they use in their acai bowls at Palm & Boy. Good stuff! So, yeah, another really great YES event, showcasing a wonderful local business that I had never heard of and most likely never would. Thank You for hosting the event Palm & Boy! Offerings included Fresh fruit, Lemon Blueberry loaf, croissants, juices and other drinks. I was surprised by the amount of paperwork was involved in getting my massage. I didn't mind, of course, but it was kind of weird to have to fill out/answer/check off Four Pages of questions. But I get it. There is a clear purpose behind all of those questions. Not only does your therapist need your health information, they also want to make it clear that you have the option of declaring any part of your body off limits. You don't want anyone touching your butt, for example, just mark it on the intake form. They make it clear you can end your session anytime you want to, for whatever reason. My therapist, Whitney, was outstanding. Wow, she is good! She asked what areas I wanted her to focus on because this was just a 30 minute appointment. She asked how much pressure I preferred and then went right to work. As far as her technique, i was truly impressed! That girl's got skills! I am eager to bring my daughter back since we love exploring boba around Ventura county. Also, did you know you can get boba for your next event or maybe even a family beach day?! That's so awesome! Thank you so much!

It was a nice surprise to receive a free bubble waffle in addition to the Boba drink. I order the Tataro-Land drink with Mango sinkers. I also got the Mochi Bubble Waffle. The drink was delicious and refreshing after a long day at work. I love how the little mango sinkers pop in your mouth. The mochi bubble waffle was a nice treat. It was hot, sweet with a little squishy inside. Yum! The manager was the cashier and she was very friendly and helpful for placing my order. Thank you Pincha Boba!

Review #893 2025-065…read moreYEE #136 Comped Dulce Pan Order: Alemana Dulce Pan Order: Brazo Gitano, Guisano, Oreja, Quesadilla Yelp is celebrating Latinx Heritage Month with La Usuluteca, an authentic Central American deli, & lucky Elites like myself get to enjoy 1 complimentary pan dulce of our choosing. The bakery is located near Arlington Heights, off Washington Blvd. & 10th Ave.; you can't miss the bright red name banner & awning. Upon entering, your senses are hit with baking & cooking scents: pan dulces & pupusas? After selecting my Yelp freebie: Alemana (vanilla muffin pound cake), I asked what's their best seller & got the Quesadilla. It's a sweet, dense cheese bread with a texture that mimics a pound cake. It was really tasty if a tad on the dry side. My son picked the Oreja, literally translates as "ear" because it looks like one. This puff pastry is also called a palmier. It's sweet, light, crisp, & flaky. M says they're way better than Costco's. I also added a Brazo Gitano (strawberry & coconut Swiss/jelly roll), & Guisano (pineapple-filled roll). Although I might have mixed up Alemana & Guisano. I figured this is a mom & pop, so a menu is not probable, & requested the server's help; she was kind enough to take the extra time to provide the names of dulce pans. There's no dulce pan menu, but there is an electronic hot foods menu behind the counter. Not sure of price points, but I got 4 items, excluding my Yelp freebie, for $11.00+. There's a 50¢ surcharge with a cc payment. It would be nice to have placards labeling & pricing the items (sometimes pricing dictates my choices & the quantity). Friendly, knowledgeable, & helpful customer service... my server took extra time to provide the names of the dulce pans & describe what's in them. While I'm not likely in this part of town, I'm definitely a fan of this Central American bakery & will stop by if I'm in this neighborhood. Muchas gracias Yelp, CM Margaret, & La Usuluteca team for my weekend's sweet treats... mi dulce son muy deliciosos!!

This lady grabs that and asked if I want anything else. No thank you. $2.50 I paid and left. So much for the event starting at 6:00AM. Maybe it's too early? I already let the LAE team.
