What a fun Tuesday night! It's been a while since we had a yelp elite event and this one did not disappoint. The Kitchen Rumors team did an amazing job. The service was superb and the food kept coming out. I enjoy hearing from their team and can see how passionate they are about their mission for their restaurant. We were served a three course dinner. There were four appetizers to start off with - crispy kale salad, lobster dumplings, blue cheese chicken kebabs, chili cheese kulcha. My favorite appetizer was the blue cheese chicken kebab. The spiced panko was the icing on the cake because it was a nice touch. Chicken was moist and not dry. For the main entree, we had the branzino, goat biryani, and garbanzo beans with garlic naan. By this time, we were already half full from the appetizers. The garbanzo beans and branzino were stand out items for me. I typically wouldn't gravitate towards branzinos but I was impressed on how well the chef executed this dish. Garbanzo beans had a nice spice to it and melted in your mouth. There were plenty of leftovers to take home. It was definitely a Yelp dinner party for one in the books. Thank you to Jando, Jane, the Yelp Houston team, and the Kitchen Rumors team for hosting and organizing!

I absolutely love these Yelp Sit Down dinner events! They're a fantastic way to meet new and interesting Yelpers, and they're also a great opportunity to catch up with my OG Elite yelper-friends. The assigned seating was a particularly nice touch, especially since there were no plus-ones. This encouraged everyone to interact with people they might not have otherwise, and I had some great conversations at my table. The main topic of conversation was, of course, the incredible food, which was absolutely divine! As someone who grew up in a South Asian household, I was familiar with many of the flavors in the dishes, but the unique twists were both surprising and delightful. For example, I've always disliked goat biryani because I'm not a fan of the whole cardamom pods, large peppercorns, or shredded cinnamon sticks, not to mention the gristly goat bones. However, this goat biryani was incredible--my grandmother would've approved! Every item was delectable, from the kulcha to the shahi tukda dessert. It was a real eye-opener and a great learning experience to understand the roots of the dishes and the origin of the name! As a Yelper, I love high-quality food, presentation, service, and this meal was exactly that. I often make chana masala at home, but the twist on the garbanzo dish with the garlic naan was a chef's kiss. I can't wait to return! I also need to try their other two restaurants in Midtown, but I'll happily endorse Amrina in The Woodlands. Thank you, Jando and Jane, for so thoughtfully setting this up!

The team at Kitchen Rumors brought the flavor and served up more than food, they served an abundance of heart and home to fine casual dining. The stars aligned with the weather being bearable to sit outside. Even with my blazer on, I didn't sweat. We sat on the patio and there were fans circulating the air along with some incredible drinks and tasting to keep us cool, particularly the gin based Malgudi Days, 10's across the board, I will be back. Our place settings were very nicely arranged with a specialty menu for the night. Food was family style and the flavors were savory even without the spice I know their other restaurants offer, Amrina. Enjoyed how each course had a special title instead of just appetizer, main course, dessert, Kitchen Rumors got creative with: That's How Rumors Start (appetizer), GIve them Entee to Talk About (main course), I Am Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry, Lets Be Sweet To Each Other - that's a mouth full of dessert. Thankfully we carpooled to the restaurant which helped save on parking availability. It is small parking lot and area with street parking, the joys of Arts District, inner loop parking. Stepped inside for a quick peek and it's just as charming inside with clean minimalist geometric and soft toned aesthetic. Got to speak to Chef Jassi Bindra and praise his Butter Chicken I had at Amrina. The team of Kahani Social Group has great ideas and it shows here at Kitchen Rumors. All the staff and partners of Kitchen Rumors were friendly and attentive, so much so that they came around offering refill on drinks and brought out to go plates for us. Thank you Jando, Yelp Houston Team, Kitchen Rumors team for great way to start Autumn. 3 months planning really showed in how today went. From check in to eating, there was PLENTY and more to enjoy. I've already been broadcasting and planning our return.

What a great Tuesday night event. While seated events (especially and assigned ones) are few and far between, this one was a great way to meet fellow Elites I hadn't met before. Before we were cut loose into the event, the friendly staff walked around and greeted all of us, which was a special touch! Once we walked in and found our name tags, we were promptly greeted with a tray full of glasses of their Gavi di Gavi white wine. Perfect way to start an event! As we waited for food to come out, our table ordered cocktails. Unlike the complimentary wine, the cocktails came at an extra charge of $8, which was discounted from regular menu price. I got the Chai & Conversations, which was a very nice twist on an espresso martini! Chai-infused vodka is a new one to me, but I'll definitely be ordering this drink again next time. Food came out in 3 rounds: appetizers, entrees, then desserts. The appetizers were definitely unique and caught my interest! My favorite was the crispy kale & wasabi white peas, which reminded me of Indian pakoras that are usually made with spinach. What an interesting concept; I'm surprised other Indian spots haven't tried this (that I know of). The lobster dumpling was also fantastic - very similar to shu mai but stuffed with lobster instead of pork & shrimp. The chili cheese kulcha was also unique, reminded me of a cross between a pull-apart brioche and Brazilian cheese bread. For the entrees, the goat biryani was very flavorful. The branzino was also tasty and I appreciate the herbs that accompanied it. Dessert came out at last and was a delicious twist on panna cotta. There were flavors of rose and pistachio on there which made it stand apart from your typical panna cotta. Texture was very light and fluffy, which was nice after being so full on all the other food that was served earlier in the night! At the Don Cosme Tequila table, the rep Miguel was super friendly and knowledgeable about the tequilas he brought to sample. Next to him, the bartenders were also very accommodating and offered to make me a custom drink because I'm not one for spicy drinks, which was their feature of the night. At speech time, while our table couldn't hear much of what was said due to the audio not reaching farther back, what did come through was the true passion of the team at Kitchen Rumors. You can tell that they care about the food and experience they give to their guests. Big thanks to Jando and the Kitchen Rumors team for putting on a great Tuesday event for us. I'll definitely be back and wish the Kitchen Rumors team continued success in this endeavor!

Where do I start!!! The seating arrangements were perfect, I love a good seated yelp event!!! In addition, you can't go wrong with it being within walking distance to my home. The family style serving was also great at our table....we felt like we were family. The music was great and the local vodka vendor as well. Collectively, we enjoyed the appetizers more than the main dish. Specifically, the blue cheese kabob, kale salad, and lobster dumplings. The naan was also good as well. They provide so much food that we were able to take a plate home. It's beautifully decorated with fresh colors and the vibe was relaxing. I went back a couple days later. lol!!!!

Wow! All I can say is I'm coming back here! Thank you to Jando and Yelp team for putting on such a great event! And also fighting through the weather and possibly less people coming due to the wetness. Seems like we started a little later than anticipated, but that's OK! I made some new friends and had a great time with some incredible food and a nice cocktail sample from noFOMO. Parking was a little crazy, but given the area, not surprised. I was able to grab one of the last spots in the main parking lot since I got there a few minutes early. When we got there, they were still setting up, but that's understandable because I think it rained quite a bit before we got there. So everything was wet and they were drying things off. I think most of us were curious if it was going to rain again, but it didn't. It held off for us! It's always good to hear the background from the owner and chef and we also heard a little from the vodka guy as well. The servers came around and also instructed us on how to eat things which was a nice touch. They were very nice and helpful and quick to clean our tables and set things up for us. Very pleasant experience. The first course was amazing! My favorite was the chicken with blue cheese, but it really didn't taste like blue cheese. Super smooth and creamy, but not an overwhelming creaminess. Also the kale chips with the potato and the middle was really good too. Kale chips had the perfect crispness and the potato in the middle just really went well with that. I wasn't too fond of the dumpling, but it's more of a seafood issue for me. Not a huge seafood fan. The cheese naan was also delicious with the cheese sauce from the chicken. Next came the main course. The Bronzino was really good and whatever green sauce was on the bottom was also very good. It was a nice crispness to the fish that I wasn't expecting. I was kind of full from the appetizer so I didn't get to enjoy that as much but also there wasn't that much of it to go around because there were five of us at the table with only two fish. That just means I have to come back and order it for myself! Love the biryani rice and the beans, very nice complement to the meal. Goat was also nicely flavored and tender. Finally, there was the panna cotta dessert. It was different - I've never had anything like that before, but I enjoyed it. Light and not too sweet. Thank you Kitchen Rumors and Yelp! I WILL be back!!

Alright, alright, alright! What a fantastic Yelp Elite dinner experience. This was probably one of my favorite events of the year so far. I really enjoyed the assigned seating, which facilitated natural introductions to new members of our Elite Squad. My table was really fantastic (and shoutout to Ema P. for serving as our lighting superstar!) The family style dining was also a great way to facilitate a shared discovery of the restaurant's cuisine and allowed each person to build their plate to their taste and dietary preferences. The early fall evening temperatures were perfect to gather together on the outdoor patio and finally, the hospitality was attentive, friendly, and efficient. It felt like a super exclusive event for some super awesome Yelpers. Kitchen Rumors is the newest concept, headed by Kahani Social Group, to take over the old Xin Chao space just a block down from Washington Street. The restaurant takes a modern spin on Indian cuisine, building unique flavors around traditional ingredients. Reflected in the name, Rumors, Chef Jassi adds his own twist on the original before engaging guests in a culinary dialogue, starting with cocktails all the way to dessert. The dinner experience included a wide range of appetizers "that's how rumors start" but my favorite was definitely the lobster dumpling. The dumping exterior was thin and soft and the sauce added just the right texture and flavor to the dish. For main courses, I really enjoyed the garbanzo beans which was a more traditional Indian flavor similar to a Chana Masala, and nicely complemented with the garlic naan bread. There was plenty of food to go around and some of my table mates were even able to take some leftovers home for lunch the next day. Overall, a really great event. Thanks to Jando and Jane as our hosts and event coordinators. Everything went really smoothly and made for a fantastic evening. I'm looking forward to coming back to Kitchen Rumors to try more of their menu and to the next YES event!

You already know that the first thing I'm going to talk about is parking. I got there early and got a good spot but it's a tight squeeze in the back lot so back on in next time you go for an easy out otherwise you're going to be doing either a multiple point turn or an awkward reverse. Large cars have no business in this lot. Get to the streets. Check in was smooth if you had your party pass up and I took Jando's advice and screen shot it so I wouldn't slow anybody down. Great introductions from all the personnel including the owner, the chef, and the two beverage marketers. Everyone was super personable including the staff who went out of their way to accommodate us. This was a smooth run operation and event. I was very impressed. Food was filling and the variety was nice. The essence of Indian food was there with all of the usual food items and some with culinary twists. You know what I did appreciate? I loved that they stayed true to their roots with some of the items like the naan and the biryani. It was a beautiful night to be out on the patio and it was good to see old Yelp friends and meet and make some new ones. I did not know there were fans to be given out and I did not get one. Sad face.

Dinner Party at Kitchen Rumors, hell yes. It was a wet dinner party, but who can control Mother Nature? The team did a great job of keeping the tables as dry as possible. Upon our arrival we chatted a bit and waited a short time before we got scanned in and were shown to our seats. We checked-in, grabbed menus then Farrah showed us to our seats. We quickly started looking over the menu at the Indian-inspired cuisine. After speeches from the Kitchen Rumors Team, Jando, and the owner of NOFOMO Vodka it was time to feast! Here's the menu: THAT'S HOW RUMORS START -Crispy Kale & Wasabi White Peas 10/10 -Lobster Dumpling 4/10 -Blue Cheese Chicken Kebab 7/10 -Chili Cheese Kulcha GIVE THEM ENTÉE TO TALK ABOUT -Branzino 8/10 -Goat Biryani 5/10 -Garbanzo Beans/ Garlic Naan 10/10 I AM SORRY FOR WHAT I SAID WHEN I WAS HUNGRY, LETS BE SWEET TO EACH OTHER -Shahi Tukda Panna Cotta 3/10 Overall, this was a great event and an opportunity to learn more about Kitchen Rumors. It was a great time connecting with new Elite Yelpers. I'll definitely return for the crispy kale! Big thanks to the Yelp Houston Team, Kitchen Rumors staff, and Jesica!

Thank you Yelp and Kitchen Rumors for making this wonderful event possible! I absolutely loved how we were able to enjoy the perfect weather in the patio accompanied by delicious food! Not only was the outdoor seating area such a vibe, the inside of the restaurant was just as beautiful! To start off, I ordered a Chai & Conversations which is a "Vanilla Bean & Chai-infused Ketel One Vodka, Mr. Black, Cacao, Espresso". I loved how you can taste the spices from the chai and the aromatics were beautiful! The only downside is my personal preference of being able to enjoy drinks that are very sweet (the ones where you can't taste the alcohol). That being said, I asked the waitress if she could swap out my cocktail (and of course, I let her know that there was absolutely no pressure if she couldn't because I knew how busy they were) and she was so kind and understanding. I ended up getting the Malguidi Days which was much easier for me to enjoy! Huge shoutout to the waitress (I wasn't able to get her name)- I appreciate and thank you! As for the food, wow, everything was delicious. My favorite was the lobster dumplings! The dish that I was pleasantly surprised by was the Blue Cheese Chicken Kebab- blue cheese is an ingredient notorious for being overpowering but this dish made sure that didn't happen! The chicken was tender and the sauce was perfect with the chili cheese kulcha. As for the entree, I personally am not a fan of goat but the rice was fluffy and rich in flavor. For dessert, this was such a unique dish! By the time the Shahi Tukda Panna Cotta came, I was so full. Not to mention, I'm not the biggest sweet tooth but I ended up devouring this one. Overall, this was such a lovely event. Not only was the food, ambiance, and service fantastic, I made some new Yelp friends! They were an absolute vibe:) Thank you again to everyone who made this event possible!

What a lovely event we had last night :') Kitchen Rumors is where Xin Chao used to be. Parking is limited but relatively easy to find street parking. There was a whole curated menu! So much food came out for the appetizer portion, I had to save some tummy space for the entree and dessert. My favorite was the lobster dumpling followed by the crispy kale. Staff were sooo friendly and accommodating. I was really impressed that they were prepared to feed a large crowd without any hiccups. I enjoyed the assigned seating, as it allowed me to make new friends. Thanks Jando, Yelp, and Kitchen Rumors for a fantastic event!

Missed the rsvp for the first round, but I was able to make it into this second iteration of the Kitchen Rumors Yelp events. This version allowed non Elite yelpers to experience an Elite event, and it seems like that was the biggest difference. This event took awhile to start... it was about forty five minutes past starting time that we finally began. I know traffic and the weather was bad, but everyone at the table was super hungry and ready to start. Let the late ones miss a round or two! I ordered two cocktails. One seemed like it was an under poured amount, and though tasty enough, I would have liked to receive a full cocktail. As for the food, fabulous! I enjoyed every dish that was offered! The crispy kale salad was the most surprising dish of the evening, as I had never had kale so thin and crispy like that. The branzino, goat biryani, and lobster dumpling were stand out delicious as well. The presentation was also very nice on the dishes.

What a cultural and gastronomical experience at the Yelp Dinner Party at Kitchen Rumors! The night truly embodied a dinner party with amazing fellow Yelp Elites, delicious cuisine, drinks and even music to round out the night! Wine from the region of Gavi was served while the chef made a speech and also introduced some amazing vendors for tequila and wine! The menu oozed of Indian cuisine testing the boundaries with fusing other cuisines and ingredients to really bring a modern twist to staple Indian dishes and ingredients! The lobster dumplings were juicy and packed with flavor, the crispy kale with wasabi white peas packed a crunch! Crispy and delicious!! The appetizers stole the show that night!!! Jando and Yelp Houston and the masterminds behind Kitchen Rumors are onto something because they know how to delight a crowd! Everything from start to finish was amazing and the staff were a complete delight - friendly and very helpful in guiding us through the tasting menu and made sure we never went thirsty!

I thought the portraits of Princess Diana and Princess Grace of Monaco breaking through the frames were really cool. I meant to ask Timothy if The Kelly cocktail is named after Grace Kelly, but I didn't get a chance to. The photo ops all around the restaurant were a nice touch. I was in the second group and I ended up towards the back of the line. A few of us had to wait on plates as they kept running out. I didn't get an opportunity to take photos of the food before everyone filled their plates. The biggest thing that I have to mention is the fact that people were taking extra servings of food, despite Timothy asking people to only take one serving. There's always going to be vultures at events, but it's not a good look and frankly it's disrespectful. I did not get to try the Chicken and Hummus and initially the Truffle Flatbread (more on that in a second). I passed on the shrimp since I don't eat shellfish. The food was good, but it wasn't the highlight. I did enjoy the "Deviled Egg" High Tea bite. The Vegan Sandwich was a bit heavy on dill. The slider was good but the ratio of bun to meat was a bit off. At any rate, I'm always grateful for the light bites. Timothy made the rounds to each table and took the time to hear our feedback. When he asked us how we liked the food, we explained that most of us at the table didn't get to try the Truffle Flatbread. Timothy went to the kitchen and asked the chef to make one for our table. We really appreciated that! Timothy also gave us so much background on the restaurant from the pink quartz bar, to the tilted mirrors in the "speakeasy" (private room), the fine china in the bar area, and the champagne booth buttons. He really has gone above and beyond to create a beautiful atmosphere. He has regular customers and said that ladies come for all sorts of occasions like birthdays, bachelorette parties, and even divorce parties! I would love to come back for high tea with my girlfriends. A huge thank you has to go out to GM, Timothy for going above and beyond for us! And of course thank you Jando, Yelp HTX, and the Postscript staff for graciously hosting us!

Tim, the owner was really nice. He gave us all personalized attention and explained his menu. Something not on the menu but you should know is that the place offers exclusive High Tea experience on Thursday and Friday from 11 to 4. Perfect setting. From outside the place looks deceptively small, when u enter, a whole arena opens up. There is a huge bar, with lots of seating all around. Then there is the dining hall, and a little private setting as well. Tim also mentioned that he has hosted a wedding party , I can definitely see it. It can't get more romantic than this..... The bar tenders were the busiest. They needed more of them for a crowd like ours. But a very agile and helpful crew was in and out of kitchens filling, refilling and clearing up as well. Very efficient. I was glad they had atleast 1 vegan dish which I got to binge on. The food was very conveniently placed on plenty different tables so people could move freely around. Menu was hand picked and bite sized so it was easy to eat. It was presented pretty well. Thank you Yelp and Postscript. It was a fun evening.

With it being a seated event, I assumed we would be served, but it was a mix of passed food and buffet. I really appreciate my tablemates making sure everyone got to try all of the offerings. Because of the set up of the long table, it wasn't easy for some folks to get up to get food. We kind of took a divide and conquer approach. Some of us grabbed drinks, some went to the buffet, and others made sure that everyone received passed hor d'oeuvres. Teamwork makes the dreamwork! The dishes that were offered were very creative and unique. I tried quite a few samplings. The Roti was delicious. The Summer Salad (watermelon with the crispy onion) was different, but good. I liked the Brussels Sprouts, soup, and wontons as well. It was nice to hear from owner Lukkaew. I didn't realize she also owns Kin De Thai and Thai Tail. It was so lovely to experience the Thai culture through the traditional dance performances. I believe this was the same group that performed at the Black and Gold event at Kin Dee Thai a few years ago. Thank you for sharing your culture with us through dance (one of my favorite art forms)! Michelin award winning Chef Michael Collantes greeted us personally while we waited downstairs for the main event. So nice to hear about this project as well as his restaurants and other expansions in Orlando and Dubai. Enter HiFi. What an amazing evening! The space is so comfy, cozy. Love the entire concept. Couches, booths and high tops wrapped around an open central bar. Vinyl on the ceiling and a DJ spinning old school vinyl records. Bartenders making the most delicious Paloma-ish mocktails and cocktails with a generous pour according to my fellow Yelp party revelers. So much fun!! Since my hubby and I were one of the first ones up the stairs, we were able to snag a booth with my friend, Mark W., and some of the early samples. The crispy brussels sprouts and the Korean fried chicken skewers from Nyam Nyam were my favorite bites of the night. I missed some of the samples as I shared with my tablemates but still left quite full and satisfied. While I waited for drinks, my husband headed downstairs to check out the food hall. He watched as the chefs prepared trays of food, that were quickly snatched up by hungry Yelpers, while still making food for the customers downstairs. That is a challenge. We actually thanked the chefs on our way out. We will be back with friends to let them share this experience as well. Kudos also to the Yelp Houston team who helped my husband register for the event. We were in Brooklyn over the long holiday weekend when the community event posted and he kept getting a purple dinosaur error, although I was able to RSVP without any issues.
